Assieme a Benedetti Michelangeli e Rubinstein è sicuramente la più "illuminata" incisione del Concerto op. 54 di Schumann. Poesia, lirismo e tecnica in funzione dell'anima di questo capolavoro. Un senso del "rubato" rifinito fino all'inverosimile, come l'allestimento dei crescendi e dei legati amalgamati e lucidati col laser !!! Quasi miracoloso !!! Con queste interpretazioni, purtroppo, tantissime altre "affondano" senza pietà (Anda, Eschenbach, Bishop-Kovachevitch.......)

Devo ammettere di non essere, di solito, un grande amante di Schumann per pianoforte...

Ma questo concerto è stupendo. Paragonabile a quello per violoncello e orchestra, in quanto a romanticismo ed eleganza.

Schumann è troppo al di fuori dai canoni tradizionali, e sicuramente dal suo periodo, e in ogni caso troppo difficile a comprendersi perché noi possiamo coglierne la più profonda bellezza.

Hahaha, se andassimo con questo ragionamento dovremmo rinunciare a comprendere più o meno il 70% dei grandi compositori. Sicuramente inizia a distaccarsi, ma non riesco ad amarlo, mi sembra che a volte le sue melodie siano sconclusionate, tante idee stupende, da far venire i brividi ma non sviluppate a dovere. Infatti ran parte della sua produzione è composta da brani brevi, Papillons, Carnaval, Phantasiestuecke, eccetera.

Non penso, perché Mozart e Beethoven sono molto più schietti lui. I "grandi", come dici tu, sono grandi proprio per la loro immediatezza - alle volte - nel comunicare qualcosa di bello ecc; Schumann sicuramente non è considerato di pari livello, e sentire una Sinfonia di Schumann piuttosto che una Sinfonia di Beethoven non è decisamente la stessa cosa; figuriamoci poi alcuni pezzi per pianoforte...

Beh, ma era tipica del tempo quella schiettezza musicale, anche se non sono sicuro che sia questo che colpisce in Beethoven, quanto la solennità e l'imponenza. Pensavo che Schumann si fosse ormai confermato del panorama dei grandissimi. Soprattutto in quel periodo, che ha visto la nascita di Chopin, Schumann e Liszt tutti insieme, Schumann è senza dubbio al pari di questi, come grandezza!

Questo è vero. Infatti pur essendo questo sia l'anno di Chopin e di Schumann è stata data molta più importanza al polacco. Che diamine, mi posso anche trovare d'accordo, perchè adoro Chopin più di Schumann, ma non lo trovo comunque giusto. Sono ambedue importanti e Schumann forse addirittura di più...

@shinyflygon35 Non credo che Schumann è più importante di ciò che è Chopin, il lavoro di Chopin è molto più grande in ogni modo che di Schumann ... Non per niente è considerato uno dei cinque piú grandi musicisti di tutti la storia della musica, insieme a Bach, Mozart, Beethoven e Liszt.

@thetripofiso L'unico concerto per pianoforte ed orchestra di Robert Schumann, Op. 54, in a bimolle (? - non sono certo della terminologia italiana, "A minor" in inglese). Uno dei più grandi concerti dell'epoca del romanticismo, e quì suonato d'un grande interprete. Arrau fu uno dei migliori esponenti di Schumann del novecento - mi perdoni per non poter esprimermi meglio nella Vostra lingua. Cordiali saluti dalla Svezia!

He is a tremendous pianist,I have a recording of him playing Lizst's ''12 transcendental etudes'' and after listening I couldn't touch the piano for a whole week.A true master.

This is a rather lovely, understated performance by Arrau and his colleagues; I personally prefer more fiery and contrasting approach in this piece. Who is the conductor? What orchestra is playing? A concerto is a collaboration between piano and orchestra, with the orchestra often taking the lead. It amazes me how the majority of people sharing these videos never identify all of the performers!

The conductor is George Hurst; taking a wild guess I would say the Bournemouth Symphony, but it could also be BBC Northern as was or the LSO

What beautiful phrasing and lovely tone!! A wonderfu performance.

I like the way he shapes the beginning--interesting use of rallentandi (if a bit contrived). He molds the solo part to the orchestral part very well. My standard for this concerto (the most beautiful ever written) will always be the Lipatti recording, even with its antiquated sound.
