there was a cheat on the 48k version, as soon as the game loads, keep pressing fire button and you will get music, the problem is when you play the game, lines come out when you fire bubbles in stead of bubbles and other sprites left a trail also.
@rainxxxx its a bit strange that you mentioned that, because when i had this game on my speccy all those years agp side a loaded and played normal but side b of the tape played the way you described:)
wow, i could not think you could think for more than 1 second which version was the best and if you would have chosen the spectrum version it would have been 100% for your nostalgic reasons. the c64 crushes the spectrum in both graphics and music and the playability on the c64 is as good as the arcade. bubble bobble was one of the absolute best games on the c64.
i thought the speccy and c64 were really good, last time i did the 8bit wars video on this game(on my old youtube channel the speccy won) i played this game to death and i found the c64 just edged it to win, it was a close one.
Pretty much, but not 100%. I think there was some rule that no home arcade port could ever be 100% faithful to the arcade version, even if the hardware was capable of it.
@locomaniacs1hmps newzeland sotry is quite close to the arcade on the amiga, but one notable differance is that it has the japanese arcade level design (i think most european levels where taken from the jap arcade) it seams in america they got levels that were differnt. the music on the amiga version is pretty acurate, but the game is not as fast as the arcade.
great bit wars, the c64 intro is really good, just like the arcade really
I deleted it! i was going through some personal/family probs, i was spending a bit to much time making these videos.
so in the heat of the momment i got rid of everything:( but a least ive learned a lesson that this just a i bit of fun, thats why i only do a few videos a month now and the rest of the time spend it with my family:)
on the speccy i opt for the 48k no music version, it takes 4 mins to load rather than 16mins for the 128k version, also its a nice tune but why won't it get out of head for 3 days :(
ive got to for the 128k version on the speccy, as i just love that music so much, it never get to annoying for me, im still humming and whistling the music to this day since ive made the video:) its driving my wife insane though lol
Amstrad version is indeed a bit of a letdown, even tho i recall being quite happy about back then. Its a pretty fun co-up game, but does indeed feel a bit empty, perhaps the lack of music. Had an annoing keyboard layout where the reset key was right next to the continue p1 key. Donno how many times ive accidentally grazed that reset key because you are in a hurry to hit continue. Why exactly does a game even have a reset key?
Well, about a year ago there was a community project going over at Cpczone and several people started working on a BB remake. Alas the zone went down and i havent heard a thing since. But in feb Cng Soft released a awesome nonplayable Amstrad demo (im uploading it right now). That demo really shows how BB could have looked on the cpc and hopefully they will finish the game.
i loved the fire ball on all the versions, it made me feel invincible:)
When i did the last 8bit wars bubble bobble, i choose the spectrum, but this time round i sat down all day and played all versions to death and i found the c64 version was the most accurate conversion of them all.
i have been thinking about doing a Dizzy 8bit wars but since ive already done a few dizzy videos,i want to try a few other games for the next few 8bit wars.. but maniac miner might be a yes on that.
i wont be doing any 8bit wars on the speccy for a while,or the 16bit versions atari Vs the amiga, but for the mean time its gonna be more 8bit wars Paper boy,Rtype double dragon and other random videos then a bit of a break. but check out my podcast on itunes 1HMPS:)
@xJORDAN99x its a great game thats has had amazing conversions on pretty much every computer or consoles, might even be in my top 10 game ever

@locomaniacs1hmps side b was probably the 128k version, as the 128k version has music in it!

I actually preferred the C64 version over the Amiga version. It just seemed more playable to me.

ive never played the amiga version of bubble bubble, but i can imagine its looks just like the arcade

Yeah the dinos look a bit funny on the C-64 but it's got the colour and the glorious SID tune, very similar to the arcade.

bub and bob look kinda goofy in the c64 version but its still a great game:)

hello there cholocpc:)
you are right why would a game have a reset button??? but a least it was just a reset button and not a self destruct button lol

It was a real let down the CPC version :( Really given its a single screen game the CPC version should have powered ahead here.
There was a remake being done (by Executioner) I think that started earlier this year - any word on this anyone? The screen shots looked lush!!

i had no idea about a remake?? if you got a link that i can find it please let me know:)

I agree with you on this one. The cpc version should have been a whole lo better.

Ultra playability. My favourite power-ups were the rapid bubble shot and the fireball.
I agree, the C64 version was the best port.
5/5

@locomaniacs1hmps i'll tell you another accurate version of a c64 game, wonderboy!
rainxxxx 1 year ago
You should do 8bit wars about Dizzy, manic miner,Cj or Tintin on moon. I guess that C64 version is best and amstrad is worst(of all 3)

I didn't know there were other versions of Manic Miner!
Thing is, I think most ports of Dizzy aren't 8bit. At least the Amiga version isn't, and you can't compare Dizzy versions without including those.
