@tdsmeg4 But they are also moving A LOT more than she is. She moves to one spot and stays for a little, and moves a little more. The rest are constantly moving. You try wearing practically nothing in freezing weather.
It's not that stupid. A Broadway singer uses his or her voice differently then any ordinairy popstar. Their voices are trained for indoor singing in a way, theaters make sure that the air conditions and temperature inside the theatre are not too high or too low because that might damage or strain a singers voice.
Poor Sierra! All she has are that scarf and those mittens. Me and my family spent a few minutes while watching this trying to determine who's wearing a bodysuit and who isn't, and I think we figured out that they're all wearing one except Sierra.
they gave the whole cast a whole thing of hot chocolate and blankets hopefully!! The two warmest costumes were probably Sebastian and Flounder!! I was there, it was colldddddd.
It's nearly impossible to sing in the cold, trust me. I've had to perform in a -13 windchill (though I didn't dance. I love sebastian's voice, but I thought for sure it'd be shrek that would perform this year.
Me too! They did Young Frankenstien last year after it came to Seattle first. Shrek came to Seattle this year and most of my friends went but my parents didn't include it in our season tickets. Everyone said the set was the most amazing one they've ever seen. I feel really bad about missing out on it.
Why would she get bronchitis from performing in the cold? It'd be one thing if she was belting out Part Of Your World. But she's singing accompaniment for Under The Sea. Not about to leave her throat red and sore. And the dancing isn't as taxing for her in this song as it is in other songs, like Positoovity.
Are they lipsyncing? I suppose I don't care but it makes me a little more embarased to admit I teared up when he hit that high note on the key change.
They have to. It's the only way for everyone to hear the song clearly. And it's really cold out. If they sang, they'd be stuck at home with sore throats for a month!
Actually, a vast majority of the Broadway shows lip sync at the Thanksgiving Parade. It WOULD be too intense to perform in the cold, and THEN they'd have to worry about getting sick. It's about showcasing the show rather than the actors' performances. So I have to agree with you ztslovebird, I doubt they'll get ill. :)
Yeah. It's easier for the people on the floats, because they can wear whatever they want (depending on the float) without all the dancing. But the Broadway performers have to dance and appear to sing while in costume, which ranges from the warmish looking clothes for the Christmas show to skintight, short stuff like in Little Mermaid.
OMG, I can't believe I MISSED this part! Thanks for posting it! lol, Sierra looks SO hilarious with the scarf and mittens! But it's a nice addition to the costume for the weather!
Well, at least she was dressed better than the girls who did the Polar Express song a few years back. All they had were tights and short, skintight leotards! Oh, and their dance shoes.
Yeah, and it's a nice reminder that Christmas is coming up, and what better way to celebrate than to take your little girl to see one of Disney's most beloved princesses on Broadway? I wish I could see her perform live, but my mom wouldn't let me because we own all the movies.
Oh my I was there in the audience but my family was walking in circles!

I think you're right about the bodysuit/nonbodysuit thing. I had to laugh when Sierra came out in the scarf/mittens. So cute.

I think this was the best performance by the Broadway folk at the parade. They all did a great job!

I hope Disney is proud when Sierra is out for the next week with bronchitis. And young Brian--amazing singer...not much with the dancing though.
