I live in Toronto and I find women to be the rudest. The women in the maritimes, in Montreal, and even the ones in New York City are nicer than the ones in Toronto. Another issue that I have is new arrivals lack of interest in hockey, curling, or basketball. For gooodness sake,...learn the culture.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Canadians are polite, but neither friendly nor particularly helpful. They are FAR more stand-offish than Americans in terms of public social interaction and have a noticeably more British demeanor. Most are pleasant enough but the reservedness here is just unbelievable, especially in the cities (even smaller ones like London, ON).

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Canadians are polite, but neither friendly nor particularly helpful. They are FAR more stand-offish than Americans in terms of public social interaction and have a noticeably more British demeanor. Most are pleasant enough but the reservedness here is just unbelievable, especially in the cities (even smaller ones like London, ON).

You will find stark differences between the level of outgoing, casual friendliness in the US (friendly, casual conversation between strangers; "cliques" faster to accept you; random "acts of kindness" in public, etc.) versus Canada. It's just a cultural difference: Canadians aren't overtly friendly.

Canada, the country where it's legal to pay a prostitute for sex, but illegal to pay a doctor for healthcare, even when you are put on a waiting list to see a specialist in our 'universal' healthcare system. Canada, a country where you can gamble $10,000 in one night at a casino, but can't pay a doctor for healthcare if you are sick and are waiting in the public system. Did I mention you can buy hundreds of dollars of liquor, but you can't pay to see a doctor? I was born in Canada, but it sucks.

@dontlookatmeokay Its clear that you don't understand the legal system of this country (for one thing, prostitution in Canada is still illegal, although not enforced in Ontario as the law was seen as 'unsafe', though the gov't is appealing the decision). Health care in Canada is managed by the provinces, and private health care is illegal in only 6 of the 10 provinces - and thats only for 'essential service'. Nationwide, private insurance companies continue to cover an around 27.5% of services.

@CuffX Actually prostitution itself isn't illegal anywhere in Canada. A great number of activities common to the transaction that must take place in order to engage in prostitution are illegal - so many, in fact, that the law makes it almost impossible to actually engage in the entirely legal act of prostitution without breaking some related law. But, prostitution itself - the exchange of sexual services for valuable consideration - is actually not illegal.
