I'm trying to learn the guitar part but I'm having a bit of difficulty after the initial progression (G - D/F# - Em - C). After that, you seem to be going up to the 5th fret and I can't for the life of me duplicate that chord cluster. Is it off-tuned by chance?
Thanks so much for posting this video. I first heard this song in the when my kids were toddlers. My daughter loved listening to it before going to sleep. Now a mere 22 years later, she is a mom, and I am looking forward to playing this song for my grandson. Thanks again and happy holidays!
I remember this as a kiddo, I'm 21 now, not exactly an olden, but I love it more now that I'm "grown" than when I was a kiddo, the words are that much more beautiful, just a well done song
@jblatman I'm with you on that! I think I heard them at CUTS in KofP around 1995 and have loved them since then. I now have 3 young children with whom I share their music. I'd love to find the tab for Ezra's guitar part and try it myself. By the way, I named my son Ezra - not exactly AFTER this Ezra but in part because I liked the name and he gave it positive associations.
Classic TFIA and maybe my favorite. I havent seen these guys lately because they dont come here much. They used to live here and 20 years ago they did more local stuff in small venues. My husband at that time actually got a mention on thier first CD cover. Im glad to see they have done so well. They are the kind of people who deserve it. However, selfishly I wish I could see them as easily as back in the day. Thanks for posting the video.
I work at a summer camp each summer. I have this song on CD and it is awesome. It can put a whole room full of kids to sleep in a very short period of time. These guys are amazing!!
I am a 20 yr old male who cries when I hear this song, such a powerful song composed of calming lyrics and soothing tunes, well done trout fishing well done.
i've seen these guys perform in a CHURCH of all places.. years ago in Dallas... as i type this, i'm currently learning this on guitar to play for my daughter. great band, great song! also view #10000, w00t!
My son calls this song the "Leave the light on in the Hall" song. The melody is hypnotic and enchanting, and the words are so soothing. For many nights after his sister was killed in an accident suddenly, I sang this song over and over to him - you could see his little face relax as the sweet words lulled him to sleep. It's magical. And a note to new parents - sing to your kids, even if you don't think you can sing. They don't care - they love mommy's voice!
My 5 year old daughetr and 2 year old son just fell alseep a moment ago in my home office while listening to this. What a wonderful song. What a wonderful gift. I could stare at them sleeping for hours.
Such an amazing song! I knew these guys when you could see them at U of H Clear Lake for free. I love that they sing some of the same songs still! I am a huge fan!!!
A friend of mine from Chicago introduced me to these guys.. I have the Big Trouble CD now.. This is my favorite song..I have two daughters both of who I like singing this to..it's possibly the most beautiful lulaby I have ever listen to. There's alot of heart and emotion in it
I loves me some Trout Music! I've enever seen these two guys backed by other musicians. They are a real treat as a dynamic duo. I loved the added ambience of the extra instruments. This band is a class act. I love the humorous tunes as well. - Fantastic tune.
every time I hear anything by Trout Fishing it takes me back to High School...one of my best memories of school was going to see them with a huge group of my friends my senior year. This is one of my favorites of theirs.
I played this to a class of hip hop fans & most of them thought that it was cool. They gave their hick teacher's music tastes a little more respect for a day or two. I plan to play it to my own children once we have some of our own.
It's great. I love that song and it is nice to see it done with a flute. I love how you got close up of the actual instrument playing- that was cool. BTW, one teeny thing, the song is called "Lullaby". Very nice video.

I randomly wanted to listen to some music and this came up when I searched for something by TFIA.
I still listen to some of their music - just not their "kiddie" music.
It's been close to 20 years since I first saw Keith and Ezra. Anyone remember Ezra when he had long hair - before it went gray?
And the yearly "Troutstock" at King of Prussia "Concerts under the Stars"?
