  • A little bit fast here and there for some games but it's good Emulation.

  • emulators are for tools.

  • @lvlidnight3clipse What in the world does that mean?

  • @Neocasko it means that emulation is illegal technology taking games (often purchasable on the current market) is for douches. If a game is so amazing that even 10 years after it's made it's still worth playing, then it's worth paying for. Sega recently created the "genesis best 40" for all major consoles for $30. it was a huge failure. The original designers hoping for new budgets for new games didn't get jack shit cause emulation of their games is so common there are youtube tutorials. F that.

  • @lvlidnight3clipse I personally emulate AND get games physically. I don't care if I can't find it in the latter. Besides, I feel as though most people who complain about emulators are all those purist pricks that think they are better than everyone else because of that, like with Pat the NES Punk. I make my own personal rules regarding it and I think the whole "must buy real thing to be legit" complaint is full of s#@t. Play how you like and have fun. That's what I say. :)

  • @Neocasko it's not about "being legit" or any kind of purist notion, it's about supporting the people that made the game in the first place. Like Donkey Kong country 1/2/3. The original team didn't get to make the 4th because the attempts to put it on virtual console and GBA failed, but there was a torrent out for the 3 games that was 10,000 seeded and an estimated 5 million downloaded. The original team from rare lost the project and we didn't get a DK4 for another 5 years and it sucked balls.

  • @lvlidnight3clipse Wow, that sucks balls. Even I think that is WAY too far. I like to think there can be balance. Emulation should NEVER disappear. But at the same time, the original creators should be supported as well. That's why I do both as well as spread the word about video game too. I have a clear conciseness in that regard.

  • @Neocasko I can respect that. There are lots of old games that the makers are retired and not trying to resell the games to make more money for new games, and there is the "I already bought the original I don't want to buy it again" excuses, and I'm actually ok with that, what burns me is these arn't tutorials for doing that, there's no explanation even of a "code" or "personal rules," It's all "check it out free games just do this" and it makes buying the game seem dumb 2 any1 who watches.

  • if anything, this vid shows how inadequate this machine is at running snes roms.

  • People are complaining about the GP2X F-100's Analog Stick and Battery Life, For Battery Life better get a rechargable AA Battery a lot is available now these days. now for the Analog Stick, there are lot's of D-Pad Mods and the new F-200 replaced the stick with a D-Pad and it can still be modded.

  • wootttttttttttt lemmingsss!!!!!!!!!!

    was fun lol

  • The games are running way to fast.

  • Full speed? It seems like Lemmings started out extremely slow.

  • I've got Squigesnes on my GP2X but games dont run at full speed,Is there anything I can do bout this?

  • first make sure you've got the latest versions. then, make sure you're overclocked appropriately above 200mhz.

  • hi im compltel new 2 gp2x and would like

snes o pls help me :(

  • 15fps isn't far off full speed for starfox. the framerate is jerky on an actual snes right up until your ship explodes where you get the odd bit of smooth. It got even worse with loads on the screen

  • there are speed changes, that sux... ^^

  • okay?

  • i still recommend homebrewing a DS over buying one of these. the SNES on here is choppy, and games made specifically for this are crappy. The DS can play back SNES, NES, etc. old games, at full speed, with fps limiting and very good sound.

  • The DS is crap for emulation. Lame low resolution screen can't display ROMs in full without cropping down or cuting out pixels. The GP2X has bigger proper game resolution screen.

The GP2X can do full speed NeoGeo, Sega CD/Genesis, SNES (this video is OLD), Turbo Grafx CD (Drac-X!), NES, Amiga, ST, MAME (arcade) and more. The DS can't do all of these at full speed OR full resolution, sorry.

  • I'll have to say that a PSP with CFW is by far the best for emulation.

  • If you don't mind a ghosty screen that smears when it moves and looks fuzzy due to the stretching to fit the odd aspect ratio, the PSP is good.

  • What are you talking about?

Even if PSP had a 4:3 aspect ratio screen instead of a 16:9 (which is standard widescreen for TVs) you'd still get fuzzy graphics from having to upscale.

Ghosting is still a problem though.

  • with the new snes emulator on the psp i can run the original starfox at full speed with just the sound turned off, any nes and sega game full speed, playstation 1 console quality, and the old atari vectrex and commodore 64 emulators.

I personally own a ds and the only thing that i want from it to my psp is the ti-83 calc emu

  • Which emulator and of what version are you using to get full speed Starfox? I get like 15 frames with the one I'm using on my 1.5 PSP. I'd really appreciate a reply, thanks.

  • i think its called snes9xtyl or something. you have to remove sound, and 333mhz overclock.

also, try to upgrade to 3.90m33, it offers 1.5 kernel support and you can have access to the 3.xx kernel homebrew.

  • How about you get ZSNES for your PC, and connect your PC to your TV and get a SmartJoy Snes Adapter? (Allows you to plug your snes controller into the pc via usb adaption)?

That's much better (And it's what I'm doing)

Or you can just buy the console and the games.

  • I love the SmartJoy. I bought two of them so that I can play the head to head games. I'm using ZSNES as well, and you can't tell that you're not playing on a genuine SNES. The games play perfectly on my rig.

They even play perfectly on my laptop, so it's like having a portable game system with all the emulators I have. I would have LOVED to have had this kind of setup when I was a kid. Super Punch Out on a 92" 1080p projection screen!??! I'd have lost my mind!

  • what the hell is the point of yoshi's house

  • when you have a yoshi go to its house eat all the apples the you will poop something like SHROOMS LOL :O

  • GP2X? WTF is this? Gizmondo?

  • It's not the Gizmondo, no. It's what it is.

  • anyone know if this thing would run a Starfox 2 rom? it looks awesome!

  • i would suggest getting a gp2x now.

the new f-200 is dual core and im running this emu at 260 mhz and i never have slowdowns or speed ups

    its amazing

  • Whatever happened to Google?

  • google for "wiki gp2x" and you'll be able to get a quick 1 page summary that will get you started. it's a linux based handheld made for emulation.

  • Wild Guns = GOLD GOLD GOLD

When The Wild West Meets Sci Fi and is full of Giant Robots = PURE ENTERTAINMENT

  • I noticed some slowdown on Super Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong Country?), is that likely to be fixed in new versions of the emulator, or is it a limitation of the handheld's processing power?

  • By now I'm sure improvements have been made.

  • the GP2X is atleast 100 Mhz faster...

  • just like a psp music games explorer video and photo

  • how you get the sound working?

  • Does Super Mario RPG and earthbound run?

  • I hope so, I love EarthBound. But yeah, I don't see why not.

  • how u download

  • oooga booga!!!

  • they're up t the f-200 now, which is probably much better at emulation than this was.

  • Just a d-pad and a touchscreen.

  • Loads of intelligent comments 'nice'.

GP2X is a great console for fullspeed NES, SNES, Mega Drive (Genesis), Neo Geo, Master System, Atari ST, Lynx, GBC, GB, C64, Spectrum, Game Gear etc etc ...

However, it does not do good Playstation emulation, and Amiga is only decent if your system can overclock to high values. Amiga emulation will probably improve further soon, but it is unlikely a fully playable 3D PS emulator will ever exist.

  • how long ago did you own one, since emulators are getting better with time.

I hear the genesis/MD, NES, Neogeo, Necpc/TurbografX, and pre '90 arcade games are all almost perfect

the SNES and GBA are not quite there yet (from what I've seen/read)

  • brings back so many good memories

  • Wow... Same problem I had.. some SNES and SEGA games run way too fast. Until that gets fixed buying the GP2X is not worth it IMO.

  • um, I think the "too fast" problem would have to be an issue of the software, not the gpx2 itself!

  • Show me it playing Seiken Densetsu 3, show me it playing Tales of Phantasia or Terranigma...

  • Hey, can you make a vid of PocketSNES 6?

  • At some point these videos all need to be updated. the new snes emulators for the gp2x are much faster

  • I know!XD

  • The only reason I'd want one of these is to be able to play my fan-translated japanese RPG's on the go... but from the looks of this vid, it would seem I'm better off sticking with ZSNES. What is with that constant speed up and slow-down in the framerate?

  • The only reason I would want this is so I could play fan-translated snes RPG's like Seiken Densetsu 3 and Tales of Phantasia portably... but can the GP2x run such games as good as ZSNES on an average home PC? It looks like its having wierd frameskip speed fluctuations...

  • This video is old. Things... have changed...

  • How good are they now?

  • Well, if your '2x can over-clock to 250-280mhz, then you can get 30-60 fps on most games depending on your emulator. PocketSNES tends to have higher low-points, but lower high-points in speed, but the compatibily in PocketSNES is much greater than SquidgeSNES. The speed issues are also gone. Everything is at it's correct speed.

  • So is it worth getting the GP2X?

  • yes

  • Agreed. That was DEFIENTLY more than full speed more or less all the time. And sometimes there were other slowdowns. To me, this looks about as good as I can emulate SNES on my PSP on the latest SNES9X TYL 4.2 (the PSP Slim compatible version). Really, it does.

  • "The last is in, the galaxy at peace."

    LOL

  • For gamecube roms, visit my emulation website. freewebs(.)com/rombomb

  • the games look like there running TOO fast, is there an fps limiter for this

  • yeah, there's vsync and there's underclocking

  • gabby ja....yay........fight

  • what is the clock speed?

is there a way to make kirby's superstar work?

  • I have the sam e problem, the games are too fast on Gp2x.

  • it's not a ripoff of the psp. it was designed for homebrew. psp is commercial. gp2x is open, anyone can design anything they want for it. psp is closed and you cant make anything for it

  • Why is it running so inconsistantly?

  • I am planning to buy a GP2X this summer, perhaps. Why hasnt the emulator any sync? It always runs at full speed. To be honest, even my DS can run Donkey Kong Country full speed.

  • how do i do that on my GP2X

  • total rip off of the psp..

  • Rofl... l2thinkbeforeyouspeak

  • WTF Lemmings ran slow on me.

  • It's really just a game speed concern with the emulation on this handheld, it seems to look ok. I gotta wonder if that would be able to handle super FX games like Star Fox or Stunt Race though.

  • Dude, the only game that ran slow like a bitch was Donkey Kong. The ones that run to fast can be fixed by turning on the frame limiter.

  • Ugh this handheld stinks, it sure sucks for emulation, half those games either ran 2x as fast or 2x as slow as the original...the donkey kong one was exceptionally horrid. I was thinking of getting this but not anymore if it can't even emulate snes perfectly.

  • The gp2x isn't perfect but it definitely doesn't suck at emulation. I was actually considering getting a PSP for emulation but didn't want to deal with all the BS of making sure you have a low enough firmware version, paying for overpriced memory sticks & batteries, and possibly having to go through a photo buffer overrun hack or running GTA just to play homebrew. I'd rather stick with the DS for original titles and emulate on a gp2x anyday.

  • U might want do some real research be4e U make another comment like this putting Ur foot in Ur mouth..this h&held had a dual core processor, legally overclockable, playes many 4m@s of movies out of the box, has a scaling chip so U don't have 2 recode 4 it..& much much more besides th@ its open source & consistanly improved upon by the community, I am sorrry but I would have 2 call U a daft twit if U really after doing research hold true 2 Ur ignorant statement.

  • GP2X is a linux computer in essance, were the PSP is mearly a corporate hinderance @ a multimedia device. please educate Ur self... or do us all a favor & admit Ur a spode lol anyways about being perfect is anything purfect? geez w/ a BoB U can hook up a keyboard external hdd & mouse.. but I suppose th@ sux 2o lol have a great day ....

  • Perhaps you should do some research and educate yourself on the English language, as to not sound like such a dumb shit.

  • lol just because you don't know how to read 1337 I had to much to say about your ignorant comment and 500 characters was too little anyway why don't you know make it a personal attack .. and just deal with the facts..

  • What you put in the message is not even leet talk, also learn grammar or stop posting. Even if English isn't the first language for you its still not an excuse.

"why don't you know make it a personal attack" THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE.

  • tired of your bs your not eventalking about the video or gp2x anymore this conversation is done sorry that the rest of you had to witniss this type of crap ciao....

  • Well if I could understand what the FUCK you are trying to say then I would, you fucking RETARD.
