  • Great as the words of this speech are and good as Branagh is in delivering them, I still enjoy the reactions of his men even more, especially Brian Blessed's wolfish grin. The French herald makes good mileage of his few lines and manages to suggest he admires the King Henry's courage and regrets his certain defeat and possible death...his farewell is almost wistful. Good acting all round, in my opinion.

  • Was that a young Christian Bale there?

  • I thought the same!

  • It's him.

  • @Jabo007Celt Yep :)

  • I love this clip because it includes the exchange with the Herald.

This movie is utterly brilliant-- it engages the audience completely.

  • I know I'm American and many generations removed from my English heritage, but I am proud of it, and my Norman blood and my last name Trowbridge. God I love this movie.

  • And Shakespear and Henry V

  • WOOHOO! I feel like rushing the hills to my neighbors. Lets just hope he hasn't seen the same clip. This shall be an epic battle indeed.

  • Wouldn't that be funny if people still talked in old English today.

  • Wow. What man wouldn't follow his king to hell after a speech like that?

  • @mikedubya I'd follow my king to the death after that speech!

  • England will be a nation again!

  • I hope so!!!!!

  • I figured out this St Crispins Speech. It is the speech financial advisors around the world will give tomorrow to disgruntal share holders.

  • shut up. that wasn't even clever or relevant. dont type dumb shit.

  • Larry's is miles better. any fool knows.

  • "...from this day to the ending of the world..." sends a chill down the spine. God - that Mr Shakespeare knew how to write. Makes you proud to be English! Thanks for posting.

  • "Makes you proud to be English!"

    Bloody right it does...

  • After listening to that I wold take a tan on with a fork.

  • 1:57 We few..We happy few..puts a lump in my throat..

  • it puts lumps in my throat also. Infact when the speech hits about 1:00 mark from that point til about 2:10 it sends chill's down my body.

  • i have to do this speech for drama class but i cant find it in written form can some one tell me what Act and scene it is?

  • Of the top of my haed, act 4, III, 64 onwards

  • Branagh did a brilliant job with this immortal speech: he managed to be both heroically eloquent and touchingly naturalistic, a formidable feat to pull off successfully. This speech (and the entire picture, for that matter) was dazzling on the big screen.

  • hozah!

segsy and brilliant-- Will would be damn proud.

  • @SirCyrano Naturalistic? As in believing that all phenoma is sufficiently explained through science?

  • I'm not used to hear English from England. I want to ask British viewers if it isn't overacted.

  • No.

  • That's what I call a clear answer.

It's a great speech. Really great.

  • No, these are truly great actors doing henry V.

  • this is a classic

    kb is a great actor

and this is a great speach

  • Nuh Huh

  • reminds me of eddie izzard

  • you Nutter

  • you arse hole. Now thats plain English

  • May never a Crispin's day pass without a toast to those brave "Band of Brothers"!

  • cripins day lol

  • 2:09 - Prodigious bit of flob comes out of his mouth; tut tut Harry ;) !

Hardly congruous with the Shakespearean decorum and probity that should be exuded in such a scene!

    ---

That aside, laudible performance though from Branagh.

I just can't countenance the notion that Laurence Olivier delivered this speech better than he did.

  • Brilliant directing, but a poor delivery by Brannagh!

  • excellent!

  • Consider me very very vicious then brian0635. I assume you live in a bubble thinking we are all the same...Yawn Yawn !!!

  • 100% agree with you Infofan.

    English and proud.

  • 100% agree with you Infofan.

    English and proud.

  • Henry V- the most honorable and just monarch that ever lived.

    England- best country ever.

    British (ENGLISH) empire- biggest ever.

England gives the world the biggest and best legacy ever. No one will ever replace her.

  • "patriotism is a virtue of the vicious,"oscar wild

this part of henry v is more about rallying the men together before the go into battle than it is about being english.and what is being english ?.is there such a thing as being english now? the english as a race seem to have been over-run by ethic minoritys and economic migrants that the labour goverment seem to give priorty over of its own people "the english people" i mean they seem to give passports to any one that applies.

  • If he did say that, Oscar Wilde was wrong.

He should have said, "True patriotism is not viciousness, any more than true love is lust."

  • That speech was very much about the English, especially since Englishness was really taking off in Shakespears time. Henry would have said something akin to it, to build up a sense of massive national pride. He would have to of said something pretty encouraging because the French Army was obliterated by only a handful of Englishmen.

  • this movie was bad compared to the bbc version

  • There was a time when if you had asked me who I'd most like to be in the world I would've said Kenneth Branagh: handsome, talented, the greatest Shakespearean of his generation, married to Emma Thompson. Then he overthrew Emma for Helena Bonham Carter. What a douchebag.

  • please upload the battle scenes!

  • England Forever. This coming June i shall again walk the fields of Agincourt. Only the English could have won that day in 1415.

  • Indeed.

  • Ah wonderfull...

  • Branagh is a genius. As simple as that :)

  • Really good movie soundtrack

  • Please please please upload the battle scene!

  • English and Proud.

  • LOL, that french constable has british accent, when it should be french

  • the speech at the seige of Harfleur is another fantastic moment in this film.
