the best way to learn is to get hands on experence. College? what is that. lol There is some places that have apprenticeship programs that might be something that would work.
hi there. we feel the same way youdo, that animal power may be the way to go with the world the wayit is. anyhow, you can direct mules by 2 ways.1) you can tug the reins on the side you want them to turn to. 2)you say "Gee" for right turns and "Haw " for left turns. If you live near VT you should come to the Animal Powered Field Days there Sept. 25th to the 27th. I will be there with the mules and there are mules and working horses everywhere. A very good time.
My grandpa used to try to teach me how to plow with two mules when I was 7 years old. He's lone gone now. But boy I wish I could learn . The way things are going here in America this knowledge could come in handy. My cousin has two mules. Is it true that you make mules turn left and right now by the reins but my hollering different command? Gin! Gin!
@mousepd My Great Grandfather was the same way, he owned a farm in vermont and worked with draft horses and had a dairy farm, i really wish i could learn these skills without going to an expensive college.
