I've taught martial arts for a few years and i'll say this, if you have multiple opponents, Run! if running isn't posible then keep moving, a moving target is much harder to hit, stay on the defensive and go for the knees or nose if you can, run at the first oppertunity. If your attackers are armed, either you run, or use a weapon of your own if you're so inclined, (i'm not saying carry a knife or anything, but these are dangerous times) but it's always best to run, no sense dying for pride.
he thinks we are all chinease. fucking sakes we are from usa or uk or ca so we are used to man fights (fists) not pussy out and use chinease holy crap attacks( holy crap for the moment you do it... ur enemy is going to say fuck or shittt)
@MechPhantom Now I wouldn't say that. A tornado kick builds up strength but it is easy to telegraph as well so that it may be blocked or avoided. This is why you don't just throw them, you have to conceal them in a combo. If anything it is just not a high percentage move but definitely effective when applied properly.
Personally, I've successfully used it quite a few times but I won't throw it more than once in a single match if at all.
@MechPhantom I am training in a few different styles including Taekwondo, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Submission Grappling, and T'ai Chi Chuan for about 8 years now. I have used the tornado kick in mixed martial arts matches but only when necessary and hardly more than once if at all. Low percentage moves like that are only available if you just happen to set it up and your opponent is reacting that way you want them to.
@DamienZshadow thats cool man haha very informative, but sorry for me its still not very useful in a fight,i makes u gas out more easily, higher chance of missing the target, and if the oppenent is smart he will see it coming and will punch or KO u when u hv just landed, thats why u dont see ppl doing in even in TKD or sanshou.Btw just asking agian, which of the 3 martial arts u took in ur opinion is the best martail arts for u or most suits u? thx man
@MechPhantom No problem. I totally understand that someone would not find a certain skill particularly applicable in their fighting style just like I wouldn't necessarily find it natural for me to perform a Kung Fu snake style finger strike because it isn't part of my strategy. The tornado kick does not often appear because it is, as I said, a low percentage move that you will likely never see but it is personally still a useful tool in certain situations and combos, never to be used on the fly.
@MechPhantom As for which martial art is the best, there is none. No student is an exact copy of what a martial art is, every fighter has a particular style. I find some of Taekwondos kicks and reaction drills very useful for my tall flexible body. I implement muay thai kickboxing stances to stay conservative and well defended while I break down my opponent. Grappling is obviously mostly effective when I'm on the ground. Tai Chi allows me to be more calm&in tune with my body's spacial awareness.
@DamienZshadow cool man haha ok thx for the tip man, i really learnt a valuable lesson, coz its just that many ppl keep saying that tai chi is the best martial art or muay thai is the best, its kinda confusing who to believe that is the correct 1 lol.Btw can u do backflips and stuff or so? and for the tornado kick can u land on the kicking leg or only on the non-kickking leg,thx man ur a good help.
@MechPhantom Yea, there is no best. Every martial art has a basic principle that can be applied correctly and used successfully in different situations in life, it's up to the student.
Also, yes I can do backflips and 540s. Aside from a martial artist, I am a tricker for fun as my channel indicates.
@DamienZshadow haha wow i wish i was like u lol, can do sooo many things lol. I stop tricking since 2006 as i was unable to do a backflip which took form 2001 till 2006. I used to LOVE tricking coz its kinda cool and ppl will look at u in amazement and stuff haha, but all of that were lost as i find it useless/not beneficial in a fight. And aside from that ,tricking takes a long time to master, and injuries are common tooo. So , how long did u take to master a backflip and 540 kcik?
@MechPhantom About a year. I've been tricking from 2005 and all my videos are on my channel if you want to see what I can do. Yes, it most certainly isn't practical, I'd never do a flash kick to protect myself but learning how to do these martial arts tricks does help my practical strikes. In order to do a tornado kick, you need to have a strong, good round kick. So in a way, it does help.
dont know too much about the different kicks in tkd.. but i do know that this guy trains wushu.. i can tell from the clothes, the wushu-mat and his style on the other kicks.. and this is definatly a wushu tornado-kick (xuan feng jiao)

tornado kick is actually super not effective in a fight good for show but never in a real situation.
