  • I really hate how people always compare female singers, especially of the alternative genre music. liz is her own person, and she rocks.

  • @bumfights4evah Liz Phair is like Marmite, but I wonder why you took the time to look up the video of a song you supposedly hate just to whine about how unfair your life is. I have a feeling your idea of good music is something with the lyrical genius of "yesterday was Thursday, today it is Friday... Tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards." You might want to think of more creative insults than "faggot adult" for your teachers in the future.

  • @innocentsparkle Hhaa that sounds like a Ashlee Simpson. but anyway good point.

  • I saw Liz in San Diego a number of years ago at the House of Blues. I don't think I ever once looked at the other members of her band. There are a lot of beauties in music these days but Liz is just ... eloquent. Tom said it so well. Her beauty is eloquent. Much love Liz.

  • the singer is so cute in this video.

  • Liz isnt about having a perfect voice or the most interesting lyrics, shes an attitude that resembles the era. She is a perfect example of the the early to mid 90's. If you wernt there you wouldnt know :)

  • @angelarayrocks Definately not about having a great voice.

  • @angelarayrocks i wasn't alive in the mid 90's, but i still love her voice and songs... and she's much prettier than those half naked singers these days...

  • @angelarayrocks Why can't she just represent great songwriting, period? Why JUST a era. I don't think of her as being stuck in time....just sayin'.

  • She can do all of those things. She's Liz Phair! Im "just saying", in my opinion, that the music really captures the "era" of that time perfectly. Just because you wernt there or your very young doesnt mean you cant simply enjoy the music. No need to take my comment so literally. Thats the beauty of art & music, it cant represent anything to anyone at anytime. She is sort of stuck in time, in my opinion. Her revisiting the now would not interest me. Thats strictly MY opinion though.

  • Love it, love it, love it!

  • good song

  • This is one of my favorites by Phair, I'm glad theres a video post for it

  • On his wedding day, they call the guy the groom. That's one of few days the guy will actually groom himself.

  • Avril Lavigne has more interesting lyrics, but this song is okay.

  • @MGM12 die, u stupid fuck

  • @MGM12 avril lavigne's songs are more love-struck songs or i-hate-guys songs.. she's great, but liz phair actually sings about life (which is far more interesting :D)

  • @ElectricZoeEel plus liz is more alt rock and indie rock.

  • Great song. Shame how hard she sold out.

  • Reminds me of Jericho.

  • Anybody have the video for "Jealousy" or the one she made about her divorce (not "The Divorce Song", I think it might have been titled "Down")?

  • Sounds a lot like "Friday," Rebecca Black's song that got flamed a couple of weeks ago.

  • @tjhombs SHE IS NOT THAT RETARDED PIECE OF SHIT U CALL REBECCA BLACK!!!

  • @cleoeve182 That is true - at least RB showed that she could sing in other videos. Her parody of Justin Bieber was crap - but then so is JB, so it followed that the parody would be too.

Unfortunately, LP has no upside. This just stinks.

  • @cleoeve182

    lolumad?

  • @3rkid2 yes indeed im mad

  • Henry was a bartender/owner in Chicago back in the day of good music. He was one of the owners of a bar called Augenblick.

  • # massive

  • Too bad she went mainstream! I love the bit with the madsive WHITECHOCOLATESPACEEGG lol

  • I listened to so much Liz Phair growing up, brings back memories of me and my mom sitting in our car singing and just having fun.

  • Henry knows what he's talking about :)

  • Such a wonderful song, I absolutely love the lyrics! I find it tragic that most people don't know her music other than "Why Can't I" ~ such a great talent!

  • @SheilaE1963 i know right

  • I have watched this video many, many times. And I finally realized the eggs Liz is carting around are white chocolate space eggs.

  • Ohhhhh, the things naughty I would do with Liz if she just asked me to...

  • No wonder critics hated this album. It's nothing like Exile. She learned how to sing, she has self confidence, she grew up, she made money so she didn't want to sound poor anymore. Apparently sounding poor is what makes you cool in the hipster indie/lofi community. How dare she make a record that sounds like it's produced in the 90s!!!!!!!!! She needs to sound exactly like she did in Guyville or else she's a sellout.

  • Ahh, the burden of a woman's biological clock and the finite number of eggs she will produce.

  • this is my favourite song right now omggggg <3

  • It sounds like the songs about finding the right person....

  • wtf

  • The lyrics are so great but some of the images like the big white chocolate space egg? break me out of the rhythm

  • I dunno, i dont really like it.

  • Must have been a gaybartending friend.

  • she looks like a seductive psychopath - i like!

  • i cant even describe how this song makes me feel

  • awsome song

  • This really takes me back. I was crazy about this album for a time.

  • @dystopika I still am- one of the best pop albums in a very, very long time.

  • Who knew the anti-marriage theme of this song would be prophetic--Liz was pregnant and happily married at the time, but eventually got divorced. How old would her daughter be now?

  • @lurch321 LIz Phair has a son who is now 13 years old.

  • @BavisTrickle That's a mind-blower.

  • Because of this song, all bartenders henceforth must be named Henry.

  • does she crave man seed or something?

  • and i asked Henry my bartending friend .....

  • Liz has such a unique voice and i Just love all her music..

  • @pcaz84 same here

  • What is a polyester bride?

  • A great song? Other than that, think plastic, fake, synthetic. Basically an unhappy plastic wife. My take at least.

  • @matthewdcross- a cynical woman.

  • a girl who gets married just to get married

  • Dayum! I LOVE this woman!

  • @roosterIX me too!

  • I love this song, but I question the plot.

  • I'm really glad for her that she's so happy now. It doomed her songwriting, though. This was her last good album. Wish I had a chance to knock those boots, though. As she said, "Sex is supposed to be a gorgefest".

  • I love this song, but it's still great to be a parent living in a nondescript suburb.

  • best argument against marriage ever. my favorite liz phair song.

  • id ride her

  • Great tune.I'll have to pull out the disc for

    a spin.

  • I always like this song, very creatative and not generic songs like so many. I feel she is a bit nasal for some of the notes she holds but here song wrtiing more than makes up for it.

  • 2:13 - 2:47 is my favorite part of the song.

I love how she uses the line "youve got time" in 2 cases. Very unique twist you dont see very often done in song writing.

  • liz's bartending friend is very wise.

    liz is an eloquent beauty.

  • I personally think the video's pretty awesome and fits the song pretty well. ;0

I think it'd be so much more awesome if she cracked the egg and a baby fell out, though.

    Seriously, that'd be fucking cool.

  • i love her music; but her videos are another story! :) thanks 4 posting this!

  • I'm not sure why this one's being knocked as a "horrible video." It makes a lot of sense with the song. As a woman of child-bearing age, she can pull around her remaining eggs in a wagon like a burden until they run out, or she can fly away from the nest. Like Henry says, she still has time. She could always come back and hatch one later, and it doesn't have to be via a generic wedding/fantasy domestic life.

  • yes! of course it's brilliant, nice interpretation.

    it's a whitechocolatespace egg...

great video, love the refer madness scene, and all the rest. liz looks amazing too.

  • The sexiest chick in Rock!

  • Liz is super sexy!!! Amen

  • Why is a part of the song cut out?

  • I love this song,

i wanna be a polyester bride!

  • No way it's about saying you don't want to marry someone for money or their fame and be just a plastic bride, idenikit, forgotten (I think)

  • thats kind of disrespectful to the song going completely against the song

  • Her lipstick isn't doing her justice.

    love the song thoughh. :D

I love all her songs lmao.

  • Liz Phair writes amazing songs. And makes horrible videos.

  • why would you rather have jumping cars and people throwing their hands up in the air while grabing their crotch?

  • Because the internet is MAGIC!!!

  • i myself dont want to die if i get married but i think that its a bit dramatic to say getting married means hanging your heads and dying

  • i think the lyrics go "or do you want to hang your head and die"

  • Because the internet is MAGIC!

  • hey does any body know is there anymore videos from the cd i love this cd!!!!!

  • i really like this cd there was alot good songs

  • i love liz phair. i love listening to this song when im feeling like i need to be domesticated...and after listening to this i say FUCK THAT and feel better :D

i dont ever want to be a polyester bride

  • Her newest CD is going back to her old Indie style.

  • She's one of only 4 big name girl singers who farms the low groove vocally.

    The rest are shriekers.

  • Who are the others?

  • Calling something "gay" because you don't like it makes you sound like a 12 year old.

  • ...or chris moyles.

  • a million thumbs up, hillbillyprofane.

  • @hillbillyprofane I wasn't that immature when I was 12. I apologize for the behavior of my idiotic peers. BTW, I'm 14, and I love Liz.

  • @TearInTheirHands I shouldn't have included age in my comment, ageism isn't cool, I was just irked by that person's comment. It's good to know someone at 14 is keeping the Liz fandom alive! Thanks for the reply. BTW, is your screenname a reference to the Tori Amos song "Tear in My Hand?"

  • @hillbillyprofane It is! : D I love Tori Amos so much.

  • @hillbillyprofane I say that, And I am. xD

  • @hillbillyprofane wat if im 12 year old. jk I LOVE LIZ PHAIR she used to be my fav singer

  • @hillbillyprofane is there anything wrong about sounding like a 12 year old? Enjoying your maturity?

  • @GreeenApe Being 12 is gay.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

  • yeah taylor you fail epicly.

  • Oh, I've missed the old Liz Phair.

  • Amazing song. Horrible video. The only good part of this video is Liz and her beauty.

  • Yep, she's pretty! Talented songwriter, too!

  • Amen!

  • This is video is weird....but I luvv the song! I've been listening to it since I was like 8 and I never stopped! I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best song EVAA!

  • I wonder where does she get her video ideas from because sometimes...they are just weird lol

  • I love you Liz Phair..mwah

  • Hate the video. Love the song. Somehow Liz Phair never made it into the mainstream, considering this was Lilith-Fair-era I wonder why, i mean this song should have been a hit. But anyways, she was never meant for commercial successi guess, not even trying (late records). I heard she's comming with more early-style sound. Can't wait.

  • Are you kidding? She is totally mainstream and popular now! Where have you been? In 2003 she released a self-titled pop album and it was all over the radio. "Why Can't I?" and "Extraordinary" were huge hits and they were featured in movies. I missed her old indie days, and I fell like she sold out, but her new songs are undeniably catchy.

  • Well, she had SOME success, but the album sold just about as much as her first two. She did get a lot of radio and soundtrack stuff, though. So I wouldn't say HUGE hits, but I would say she made some commercial success. Plus, most people don't know who Liz Phair is. "Did she sing that one song that has the why in it?" Oi. She's a genius, though!

  • She was all over the radio where I live. You couldn't turn on the radio without hearing "Why Can't I?" I guess you're right though. Although you might could argue that a lot more people know her newer hits than "Polyester Bride" which is my favorite.

  • I have a eyeshadow named after this song

  • Why did they chop the song up in the middle? It's not like its that long.

  • I've been hearing this song for at least 6-8 years, this is the first time I've seen her. Liz is hot!

  • ...Alligator Cowboy Boots. xDD

  • realy good song i was born in in i was like 2 when this album came out and i have grown up listening to her

  • good song i saw her at the filmore last night she tried playing this as one of her encore songs she kept messing around to find the key. it was so cool!

  • this song is why i learned how to play a guitar

  • she recorded this song in my dads studio. and gave him the guitar she played the first three cords on!!!!!!! he is friends with her tho

  • Good song.

I really everything aboot love Liz. Love her music. But what's up with the egg references? Is she saying she wants a baby?

  • I think this album was recorded after the birth of her son, hence the fertility references.

  • I really like this song. I dunno, I like her older stuff compared to her newer stuff (strangely enough, I'm not normally like that).

  • Her first album was a classic, but she sprinkled in a few good songs after that, even about 5 songs from "whip smart" top 40 type album she penned a few masterpieces. This song is pretty cool, did not know the name of the album until now---looks like scrambled egss in a big way though.

  • i really love the title track to this record

i quote it often and then just smile a

    risus sardonicus at them

i once recited the chorus at a job interview

i got the job, of course

  • What kind of job were you applying for?

  • I never sit down and think about writing a song with a key change like that.

  • I love this song. The lyrics are awesome <3

  • Her CD Whitechocolatespaceegg is in my top five of all time. It is so rare to find a CD where every track has merit and no filler just to finish it out. You rock Liz.

  • This is my theme song.

  • Me too. I'm with you on that!

  • i like this song

  • I have all of her albums, and I must say this is one of my favorite songs of all that they entail.

  • Inappropriate, yes. But with "tumescent", this has excellent diction!

  • god dood, how fcking gross can you get! this is public you know!?

  • She got a smile that just grabs me and doesn't let go... and she F*#kin' rocks!!!!

  • ..."do you wanna find Alligator cowboy boots they just put 'on sale?' or do you wanna flap YoUr WiNgS and FLy aWaY from HeRe?"

    f**in Brill.

  • shiit when was the last time i heard this song. was about 10 years ago? damn

  • Her looks really changed after she had her son youtube her video rocket boy done about a year before and you'll see she is still VERY gorgeous

  • Is liz just the best looking girl ever? This coming from an aussie that had Jennifer Hawkins as Miss Universe! Id hate to choose!

  • Cool video, but it's annoying that they cut out the second "you're lucky to even know me" speech by Henry the Bartender. It's an important part of the song. To take it out waters down the theme.

  • I know!! WTF!?

  • Love my Liz, love the video! The images are amazing! Who else wants to fly away from here?

  • 'Who else wants to fly away from here?'

*raises hand slowly and meekly yet firmly, like some of the loonies during 'group' in 'Cuckoo's Nest'*

  • LoL! :)

  • I love it!!

  • one of her better songs

  • I love this song so much, then the video's images just make it ten thousand times better.

  • lol my aunt sent me a cd and this was on it thought it was cool when my kids ask how kids are made im a say on youtube and look up polyester bride by liz phair

  • This is not the full version. It's a shame artists have to dumb things down for MTV.

    Thanks for uploading anyway.

  • thnx for posting this vid. i luv this song.

  • Cool video for a great song from one of the best albums of the 1990's.

  • Are some of those scenes from "Reefer Madness"?

  • one of my favorite songs-very underrated Liz Phair song

  • I love the cd this song is from

  • Liz rules. Thanks for sharing!
