I use a 4 foot Wilson Silver Load top loaded antenna. I have used a lot of antennas in my 51 years on this Earth and it beats the shit outa most antennas for my application. Awesome antenna.
a 102" whip is useless it has no gain . so for every 1 watt you put in you only get 1 watt out . say you have a antenna with 10db gain ,for every 1 watt you put in you get 10 out soooo. if you have a 5 watt radio you will transmit at 50watts . i like the wilson 1000 best on the market
On this antenna I bought for my cobra HH38WXST cb radio it says if you dont have a long enough antenna you'll hurt your radio some way is that true if its shorter than 108"?
108 inches is approximately 1/4 wave 11 meters. So you usually should have a spring and a quick disconnect to add some length. pretty standard setup like that will give you good swr provided you have good coax and grounds
you just put them up and hope for the best but you could cut it or i take a peace of guy wire and wrap it around the top then i eather bend it up , straight or down to drop the s.w.r.

it just depends on your SWR levels ur getting with your radio but other than that no it can be any height of your choice
