  • Two great singers-deep lyrics-amazing Phil Spector production-'nuff said...

  • beautifull love song!

  • justin bieber, lil wayne, rihanna, 50 cents, sucks. righteous brother rocks.

the one who dislike this is blithe

  • 22 youtubers have no taste. Fantastic blue eyed soul!

  • Now this is REAL MUSIC! Got to love it!

  • GREAT SONG......

  • Even though I was not born in 1964 this song is beautiful! One heck of a song to dance to! All the rest of you wanna be singers like GaGa and Beiber need to take note!

  • As great as Lovin' Feelin' and Soul & Inspiration are this song has the edge over them because of the lyrics. The performance is brilliant. It matches the desperation of the character singing to save his live. All of the past defeats and let downs are washed away with his girl's acknowledgement of his love. You need to sit down all the so-called singers and songwriters of today and play them this as what you can achieve by striving for excellence.

  • This is truly a beautiful song!!

  • Amazing discovery. Guess what?? The co-writer of this one, Carole King, demo'd this song and its on YouTube youtube.com/watch?v=jM60WJSQRUs

It is also amazing, as good as this recording in its own way....simply perfection.

  • This is my all time most favorite Righteous Brothers song, beautiful, very powerful, and incredibly moving.

  • I think this is the most poweful song they recorded...love it!

  • to me this is one of the greatest recordings in history - it just breaks my heart!!

  • Every sentence is a perfect definition of my case.

Pray for me people. Pray i get her.

  • One of the best songs The Righteous Brothers ever sang. Thanks for posting such a memorable oldie that sure to bring back memories to me ever since i started to listened to oldies during the late '70's.

  • Ooooooo. One of the most seductive songs ever produced. Bar none. Especially the intro. Such class. Music like this is forever gone, unfortunately.

  • Have any of you had a dream that just one person thought you were crazy? Never let them take your dream away, ever. Dreams do come true, I know believe me. LadyProwler100

  • I remember opening packs of baseball cards, when I first heard this song.

  • i love the riches brothers more then any other singers.

  • I love this song.. over and over...

  • Now that I am old, I understand what they meant.

  • Believe it or not I've never heard this great song before, and I love the Righteous Brothers. Geez...don't know how that happened...I'm like embarrassed... this is gotta be one of the best!

  • love the righteous brothers

  • Anyone recall that they owned the Red Onion restaurants in Lakewood and Huntington Beach, CA back in the mid 80's?

  • @sammy1995

Wow I didnt know that they owned that... spent one memorable night there in 1982 on my birthday (I snuck in) because i wasnt 21 yet :)... It was during Long Beach Grand Prix weekend...

  • @sammy1995

I believe it. I remember when my big sister, Sue, used to wear-out a trail from Azusa, Ca to Buena Park, Ca, before the 605 Freeway was built, and drive with her friends down Route 39, to Beach Blvd., to the Retail Clerks Union Hall, near Knotts Berry Farm and see them. She also saw Dick Dale perform there.

She would always tell my parents, "I'm going to Retail", almost every Saturday night. This was around about the time from 1963-1965. That's where the action was, for sure.

  • I'm 69 years old and they were then and now the best ever

  • Just read in NYPost ,Bill Medley to be at Jones Beach theatre this August. This was the first song I thought of "Once in my life" maybe not as popular as some of their other tunes.........but awesome none the less..... Bobby we miss you...and with Bill the beat goes on....

  • WHAT A SONG,

  • yep. sunni643

  • The Righteous Brothers had so -many favorites for me, But this would be number 2

My all time favorite of their would be Ebb Tide, then Unchained Melody!!

It's hard to pick a favorite, LOVED most of all of their songs!

    Thanks for sharing

  • this is a horrible horrible mix. the highs are literally stunning the mosquitoes in my room, mid-flight

  • @JayMalone Matter of taste. Most of the world worships this mix. Try River Deep Mountain High by Ike and Tina Turner and Da Do Ron Ron by the Crystals, and maybe you will acquire the taste. Wall of Sound.

  • @Robbbespierre no man. i know all about phil spector & the wall of sound and worship it. this video just includes a low-quality digital remaster.

  • @Robbbespierre dont pay no attention to em man,if ya dig it great i know i do bro

  • @JayMalone most likely mixed for mono

  • Great blue-eyed soul...

  • Bobby Hatfield has been dead for many years.

  • I was lucky enough to see them in one of there last concerts in Pontiac MI three years ago. I have fallen in love with and to there music, and am old enough tht they were popular when I was young and they will always be my favorites.

  • Spector sitting up in the control booth, throwing down lightening bolts of music.....

  • "...I can't give you the world--but I'll work hard for you, girl--I'll work hard (every day) and all my life (in every way) please don't leave me...just do this for me..." Has there ever been a more chilling moment in music history than this chorus? The Wall of Sound at its most majestic.

  • @gremashlo u r on target

  • Just Magic!

I was lucky enough to be in Jr High when this song came out!

    How lucky was that!

I LOVED MY LIFE THEN & THE MUSIC!!

  • @cynthia6637 You n me both

  • I love the Righteous Brothers, I wish that they were alive during my time or that I lived to see them perform. They are such amazing singers! So much talent, soul, and passion. Their voices together was just magical! My favorite male vocal group emerging from the 60s.

  • I lived this era, and am a big fan of soul, British Invasion, psychedelic, pop, really every 60s genre since I started listening in 1962 at age 9 when my teenage cousins from Brooklyn stayed with us for a summer and I watched Lloyd Thaxton TV show every afternoon with them (The Bros were frequent guests later on) If this is not the most perfect pop single ever, what is? In production, writing, feeling, delivery, everything. Totally flawless and exceptional in every way. Pure heaven.

  • I prefer the Beach Boys' cover of this song to the original... all the instruments seem to mesh into one indistinguishable sound here

  • @DoGeeseSeeGod24 DUH, ITS THE WALL OF SOUND CREATED BY PHIL SPECTOR!!! ORCHESTRAL

  • @grayngreen8 I know what it is... I just don't like it that much here.

  • Carole king wrote this and for that i love her, because this is my favorite righteous brothers song, Bill Medley is definitely one of my very favorite singers of all time.

  • ***

  • Picture yourself in the 60s listening to this song. It fits right in. Pure God's gift at work.

  • Dark i am in lets go back and find her, just got finished listening the the Walker Brothers but damn if you cant get her on the dance floor or in the back seat with these songs you were dead Love this!

  • Will never, ever get tired of listening to this song.

  • i think it is great as is all of there songs.

  • Hey footballer55,I'm there, I'll go with you! I want to look up my first love....

  • Comment removed

  • Incomparable.

  • This is my favorite Righteous Brothers song; and baby, baby...

  • This is amazing even decades later. RIP Bobby Hatfield ♥

  • saw them at there restaurant in costa mesa ca amazing

  • @JimmyCase1000

    youre joking

  • I can not even tell you all how many times i listen to this song.... I'm 59 years old and listen at least once a week... Hmmm maybe it will be the first dance at my next wedding :-)

  • @GUSANO122, there goes the age thing again. So what if you are 59? Good music transcends race, age, and gender. I hate stating my age but I am 20 and have liked the Righteous Brothers since I was in middle school. And no one introduced me to them. Like I said age is irrelevant because good music transcends age.

  • Just loved the way that Bobby & Bill derived their name whilst playing to some GI`s a guy at the front shouted out thats Righteous Man. That gave them their name but songs like this would have made them stand out anyway. Absolutely top drawer and makes you so emotional on every listen.

  • definitely my favorite of theirs most people would say unchained melody or lost that loving feelin but this song does it for me just amazing...goosebumps amazing.

  • love the song, love the sound, love bill and loved bobby. mid 60s to mid 70s best music ever except disco,

  • CLASSIC!

  • POWERFULL

  • You couldn't ask for a better duet and can make you wish they were still singing together. God Bless Bobby. LadyProwler

  • MY # 1 FAVORITE SONG EVER. IM SOO SERIOUS. HAS BEEN FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PHIL SPECTOR IS THE GREATEST SOUND GENIOUS EVER.

  • 1st class song....thanks for posting !!!!!

  • Was it spring of '65 working at the Houston Zoo,putting clothes in lay-away, and buying

colonges like Woodhue,Aphrodisia,Lanel. The high collered shirts, anticipating new music

comming out on a.m. radio. Being 15 going on 16 with acouple bucks in your pocket take your girlfriend by cab to a local event.

  • Close your eyes and imagine what that recording session must have been like! I get chills just thinking about it!

  • 1 of the songs Beach Boys got weaned on for "Pet Sounds"

  • i love this song so much.... thank u dude for upload!

  • Can't find the words to describe this song to do it justice....another absolute masterpice from the amazing Righteous Brothers and the wall of sound...I agree, I believe the greatest music originated in the sixties....brings back a flood of memories of that era

  • I may just be old and sentimental but I think that the greatest music came from the sixties. This song is a testament to my beliefs.

  • @46razzledazzle me too AMEN!!!

  • Great song and singing by the terrific Righteous Brothers!!! 5*****

  • BearWalken - Thank you so much for putting this up. The Righteous Brothers had so many great hits and everyone has a favorite, this is mine. I once read somewhere that "Just Once In My Life" was Bill and Bobby's favorite song and their favorite song to perform. Wish I could find that quote.

  • One of the greatest songs of all time, a masterpiece, thanks so much for posting...

  • Bring back last year high school . My favorite 1965

  • My favorite Righteous Brothers song. This song just gets to your heart.

  • Fantastic music with so much heart felt soul!

  • iam crying my eyes out ! thanks for this post !

  • This is so soulful and beautiful. Really a guy and gals song when couples were really so much more from the heart.

  • love it

  • one of my favorites by them

  • This was their best

  • Wonderful, but check out the Beach Boys' version on 15 Big Ones, also superb!

  • Awesome song, The Righteous Bros were great together...

  • One of the most "under-rated" Righteous Brothers songs. Awesome!

  • wt g bros

loved it then and still do!

  • powerfull

  • At 2:10...God takes over. Absolutely chilling. Probably the single greatest "moment" for the Wall of Sound.

  • Why does people associate this song with the military? It has nothing to do with that! It's just a good song written by a few great sixties singers.

  • @robbiesyohn ....I absolutely love this song.It is my favorite song by them. The reason this song is associated with the Vietnam War is because ..that was all of our lives in the 60's and early70's..I think the words of the song followed many soldiers to Nam..and it was one of those songs that was played frequently...and damn the "Dear John" letters that found their way to Vietnam............"Honor the Veteran not the War"...Peace...Marcia

  • @Pookie4435 Amazing little world you create for yourself, good for you !

  • @Pookie4435 Your correct about the song . . . . the time . . . and the letter. Glad we took the hit . . . . so future Vets would be respected - - - - -

  • what wonderful voices.... what wonderful memories. thank you for sharing their songs.

  • The best duo of their era. And maybe any..what white dudes sang r@b so un-self-consciously?

  • @peterzang None!!!! That's why they had the respect of their African-American audiences, who dubbed them "righteous"......amazing!

  • Man these guys are truely RIGHTEOUS ----- There tunes carries me through NAM---------Simple and pURE MUSIC THAT MOVED YOUR SOUL--------------TOM TUCKER

  • I forget-did the blonde od on heroine or coke? Sad way to go but what a musical legacy lost too.

  • @petclark1 I heard it was first thought it was his heart, but tests confirmed cocaine.

  • This song is what it must sound like on the way to heaven.

  • i want this played at my funeral !

  • @kevooom i'll make a note of it

  • Absolutely one of the best of the decade. A legendary duo. A legendary song!

  • "Just once in my life let me get what I want, and never let me down.Just once in my life let me hold onto the good thing I found, don't let me down..baby ,say that you'll be staying..............."......What an incredible lyric...There is no way todays music can touch our generations musical talents....my favorite Righteous Brothers song...thanks for the posting......Peace..Marcia

  • Like it? LOVE IT!!! sAW THEM TWICE IN CONCERT in the 70's..Way too bad one of them died of a drug overdose. Hey that was our generation, didnt matter how old you were when you passed. If you did drugs ur whole life, especially when you are famous fans give them to you like candy!! Anyone agree?

  • @TheMustangsally75 Ride Sally, Ride!

  • Reminds me of Kathy K back in 1965.

  • A too-often overlooked masterpiece of composition, production, performance. I love the persistent throb of the drums that intensifies the pleading neediness in the incredibly emotional lyric. This recording is so clean yet so fat, so perfect for AM radio. One of the best examples of Spector's Wall of Sound, Carole King's and Gerry Goffin's collaborative skills, and of course, Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield's magical voices.

  • @louis81848 Hal Blaine on drums --- the best!

  • Wonderful! The Righteous Brothers will NEVER be forgotten! They put such feeling into their singing, therefore alot of us have so many good memories from their music.

  • A masterpiece, a time capsule.

  • VERY emotional song. love it.

  • Comment removed

  • who wrote this?

  • @jkoncz Gerry Goffin, Carole King and Phil Spector (according to a BMI search)

  • This song is very sweet and touching at the same time.

  • always loved them. any chance you might also have summertime and old man river? I've never heard the stereo version of summertime that Bill made in 1974. Is it the smae and they just remastered it? Thanks

  • pure brilliance

  • from the 2:00 minute mark to the 3:00 minute mark is as good as it gets--that old pot of gold isn't easy to find but this song is pure....

  • @footballer55 Dude not manny can see what you see ,you are all right, Walt

  • @footballer55 Yes with soul,.....all about that lost treasure,...'your soul mate'. They were great and will miss them...

  • @footballer55 Hey this is just some powerful singing. Oh if we can only go back to 1964 and that era.

  • rip bobby and thanx for the memories of a better time when you and bill were the best

  • For a old girl...it still gives me the goose bumps..wonderful music...

  • I salute you, great classic blue eyed soul forever.

  • james federo rest in peace!!!!!

  • 2:00 ~2:30 voices of angels.

  • Written By King and Geffen, Carol King , That is, On The Righteous Bros,Best album of The sixties, King And Geffen wrote half of their hits, Then she wrote and sang "Tapestry"...She also wrote many hits for the Drifters and Chiffons, to many to Mention, Thank You Carol King, for enriching The Sixties. " what a Decade for all Genres of Music.....

  • Always loved this one...one of their very best IMO

  • damn there voices are amazing...

  • phil spector, the righteous brothers and the wall of sound...

has there ever been anything else like it since?

  • the walker bros was similar

  • Hey Judge,

the ' Wall of Sound had not been developed yet,

    tim//L.A., CA

  • see, i said i was a dork!

  • listen closely, maybe with your eyes closed and a nice buzz-on. the bass, the drums which sound so far away, but so close; the background vocals, like from on-high; the soprano fills beteween bill and bobby's duet; and bill's huge, huge lead vocal, with the other pieces all sounding so very much larger than your own small, dim consciousness...and that trademark Righteous tambourine. If that all doesn't add up to a WALL OF SOUND,

then it's all lost on you!

  • Damn this song can still bring a tear to this ole girls eye.

  • good time in life, the spitting shit was one of the reassons we landed in Oakland rather than SF,and yes many of the ass holes did get punched in the face, returned twice

  • my brother in law is Roger Falardeau from St. Paul, Minnesota........are you related to him??????

  • not sure, most of my family are in New England and Canada

  • thanks for your reply........yes, Roger grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota........anyway, take care and keep on listening to the RB!!!!

  • always will,they are great

  • to pkappel006....amen brother!

  • My Fav By The Righteous Brothers =)cool

  • Sublime.

  • Bill has/had one of the best voices in music, just awsome

  • This tune is strongly magical as well as mystical.

    A true work of art.

  • Considering the way things are shaping-up in this nation, it was a blessing to read the reviews of all the patriots...I too am a patriot...I love this country I served 17 years in the USMC and it really bothers me to see it fold to the left wingers. On 911 I was job hunting and it tore my heart out to watch the events unfold on the tv. I have nothing but praise for the firefighters, police and all who were there who sacrificed their lives to make things right. God save America!

  • boj1115.........I would like to add another comment to yours.

MAY GOD BLESS ALL THOSE MEN/WOMEN WHO HAVE DIED FIGHTING IN ALL WARS THAT AMERICA WENT INTO

  • Top Shelf!

  • WOW!!

how could I have ever forget this song.

  • Sonny & Cher also did alot of backup vocals for Phil.

  • missaprilm, wasn't aware of that. were they good friends or so???

  • I believe Sonny got his introduction to the music business starting out Backup for Phil as early as 1962. he met Cher in a coffee shop in Hollywood around 1963 and she and Sonny did backup on the Phil Spector" Wall of sound " , recorded at the Gold Star studios in Hollywood. and the rest as they say, is rock n roll history : )

  • God bless all of the men and women fighting for our respect and integrity.

God Bless all of the Firefighetrs, Police Officers, and EMT's / Paramedics.

Never waiver in your committment and dedication to you r Country at any cost.

For those who think these are baseless words: Google : Joe Torrillo FDNY YOUTUBE

  • ooarmed00

    I am with you 100%.

On 9/11/ me and the brothers in the FDNY gave it all.

In NY we took the hit , but the armed forces of the USA took up the fight.

If you never served your Country, and don't like it, there are thousands of airports in The USA that will tale you to any country you desire. I f you are stupid enough to book the flight, I know you'll be smart enough to book a " round trip " ticket

  • My personal thanks go out to you and the 343 who didn't come back. I was a volunteer firefighter for 32 years, and my former boss is an EMT in Rockland County.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mufaso1000 what does this have to do with the righteous brothers and this song? please take your prejudice against americans elsewhere. some of us want to enjoy some good quality music!! (:

  • @dolphinjjam I removed my comment as you requested and ask that every comment that does not have anything to do with this video be removed as well. I'm tired of these damn 60s freaks who can't get over Vietnam and the Kennedy assassination making their nonsensical comments.

  • I Thank every soldier who served, every man and woman who put on a uniform and did it for God, Country, their families, most of all for the ungreatful deadbeats that are still trying to figure out what life is all about. Wake Up Americia. You live in the greatest country in the World.

  • baby ,baby ,oh yea!! good to be alive enjoy every moment, n always thank God nam vets welcome home 1965 usn

  • Gee...what a song!

Anyone know who their backing vocals are (sounds like a large choir.)

  • Darlene Love and probably the other 2 Blossoms were in the background and others unknown.

  • I can't be a loser with you, oh its still hurts

  • I love this song; it's my favorite Righteous Brothers tune, too.

  • your awesome

  • Yeah it's great--genuinely desperate sounding. Ever heard the version by the British mod group called The Action? It has a different feel but is also great.
