Your process is amazing. I hope it was therapeutic for you. I found it inspiring. I love art journalling as well and will definitely try laying out some gesso on my pages and experimenting with pastels after watching this. Thank you!
@shuttergirlUK It's a stiff grid base used for rug hooking. You can find it by the yard at any fabric store in the specialty fabrics area - or just ask someone who works there.
I enjoyed watching you create your page, but found the fade ins and the kaleidoscope effect somewhat bothersome, but really enjoyed how the page came together. I sure can understand the feeling of being overwhelmed!
are you seriously kidding with the transitions and effects?! A simple blur in/out would have sufficed, especially as many as there were. Jeez. I can't even tell what's going on because it keeps fracturing and rainbowing and fracturing again.
@That70sHeidi Look how old this vid is you idiot, it's before it became google-tube and they screwed up the quality of all the old vid but you were probably still in diapers when that happened. Go watch Bambi and learn the lesson about if you can't say anything nice stfu!
this is an amazing piece. I like this kind of art, itz super expressive. But could you tell me what kind of paper you used? and how do you get those faces? Do you buy them? make them???? and where can i buy gresso? thanks so much! and the textures you used, how can i get a hold of them XD???
This has been here a year, and I've missed it! After viewing so many BAD journaling videos, I enjoyed yours!
Love your manicure; you were prepared . You focused the camera on the work surface. You selected good music, instead of mispronouncing "gesso" like so many others.:-)
Your artwork was an actual journal page, expressing your thoughts- Not just a pretty pic glued down on top of a background.
Please give lessons to others on how to prepare for a video?
Man, what a great video and I can totally relate to being overwhelmed...Great job and thanks for sharing. I love how you blew the ink all over your page.
It's a very interesting page when finished, but personally I would have stopped at 1:50. It's so pretty! I know "pretty" was not what you were going for, but I love the colors at that stage.
Thats almost scary looking! I guess thats the idea, to evoke emotion, and that's how it made me feel! BUT, I must say, I like it and I would love to try something like it! Louella
all of your videos are so inspiring , im 14 and i just love watching you build up these pages. Where do you get your inspiration for these or are they just spur of the moment type things? This one has to be one of my favourites :D x
This is an amazing page. Thank you for sharing it with us. I remember doing the ink technique back in school. I've just been inspired to do it again! I hope you will post many more videos like this 1!
I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to reply to this, between being sick and youtube *glare* not always tellling me there's a comment I'm just getting to this. Thank you so much for the compliments and hopefully now that I am on the mend I can get more vids up and do more art in general! I miss it! I hope you will share your work one day and have a wonderful and creative day!
That was a great video. I learned so much just watching you. It gave me a lot of ideas. Hope you are not feeling as overwhelmed now. Thanks for posting this it makes me want to create something. thank you thank you
Oh thank you so much! I'm so happy to hear it sparked inspiration for you!!! Nope, not so overwhelmed now, well not for the same reasons lol! I hope you have a beautifully inspired day!
okay, What Did you First lay down on the paper? was it GessO?? Then What type of Pastels did yu Use? and Was that Water based Ink? Or In the bottle I did not see it Clearly. Very Nice, It makes me want to do that Too. ARtistichicana
Yay! So glad to hear it inspires you to want to do it! *happy dance* Ok, yes the first layer was gesso and I used my brush to create texture in it while still wet (it will show up through the other layers as you go). I used Portfolio water soluable oil pastels. It was a bottle of Dr. Martins Bombay india ink that lucky for messy me has a dropper in the lid! lol. Thank you so much for watching, I can't wait to see what you create! Feel free to give a shout anytime you have questions. =D
Very moving to watch the emotions come forth on your pages. Heart stopping, hold your breath video when you realize the situation you went through dear sis.
Thank you! It's just torn pieces of tissue paper, like you use for wrapping gifts. =) I thought your english was fine, I understood completely! ;) thanks for watching and commenting.
OOOH! I LOVE the squiggly lines, those are cool! What are you doing when you brush something on the oil pastel and put papertowel on it? er...1:18? Really cool page. I know how you feel.
As always, lovin the vids! Thanks for a glimpse into your head :-)
Thanks! geez! What did youtube do to my vid to make it all pixelly?! -.- Oh I was just brushing on water (let is sit on there a sec) then patting it off and lifting some of the pastel off to let the texture in the gesso and the base show through a bit. lol you're welcome. =D Thank you for watching!
Well done. Very emotional piece. Hope you are feeling better soon!
