I don't remember hearing this song years ago...but I like it. I wonder if someone could post more of her oldies from LP's on here. I would love to see someone make a video of Talk Around Town.
Saw the Hometown Band play this live in concert at the Royal Theatre in Victoria in 1977. I was in high school. I remember Shari's smile, and the band really cutting loose. Thanks for posting this!
I do not recognize the name Sherry Kean at all, but I looked her up on youtube and THERE IT WAS! Thanks! I have some really obscure Canadian songs from that era thru various means. I hope I can find I Wnat You Back for a mix CD somewhere.
Blushing Brides sent me What You Talking About, and I was able to purchase CDs of Klaatu (Knee Deep in Love, Calling Occupants) and Aerial (Moments Like This, The Tears That You Cry). I found Randy Bachman's Main Street USA on youtube. There's others!
Cjames, if you can do lost Canadian gems, put up Marylu Zahalen's song I Want You Back. It was mid-80s and I had it on a K-Tel type record that disappeared decades ago but have never gotten that song out of my mind and would love to hear it again.
Unfortunately, many Canadian radio stations do not play their Canadian artists as much as their international artists. Many stations also tend to drop songs from their playlist long before they catch on. Therefore, many Canadian songs never achieve their full potential....or hit status.
It's a shame, really. Many great Canadian songs never get heard., And If they do, sometimes they only have a limited run at radio.
Did you know that if you type into google The Hometown Band i'm ready, that this page comes up #4? And you just put the page up, right? Damn, google is fast!
LOL...you are too funny! When I read your first post, I was thinkin,' how can it be, these are the exact lyrics you posted when you were looking for the song. LOL.. You got me though!
It took something like 4 hours for this amateur to put this thing together? It's ok though....anything to help preserve this long lost gem.
Feel free to share with your Cancon enthusiast friends
Psych! Just pulling your leg! Of course this is the one! What fun! Happy Days! And I had completely forgotten about the awesome extended instrumental of the song. TENKYOUVEDDYMUCH!!!!

The beginning sounds like Klattu.

Hello GumbytheUnstoppable!
I could be wrong, but I don't think Mary-Lu Zahalan recorded a track called, "I Want You Back." However, Sherry Kean recorded a song with that title.
Mary-Lu's most successful song in the early 80s was "Turn Of The Wheel."
She later had hit radio success with "I Can't Forget About You" and "Fallen Angel" In 90.
I just posted Mary-Lu Zahalan's "Letting Go" here on youtube if you want to check it out.
Beautiful ballad too. David Foster produced.
