As obvious as it is, I've never noticed "die" in "diet," or more it just never seemed significant. "Die" seems to portend the results of a diet, that's a little discouraging.

When I was in 9th grade, someone went around the school writing DIE on walls all over the place with sharpie, and the next day, someone else had added T's on the end of all of them.

I don't know that I would have noticed the DIE in DIET if that event hadn't occured.

Relative to what the big boys in Hollywood use, our stuff was pretty cheap. The whole film cost us about $10,000. Movies that are made with budgets of millions are still considered to be low-budget, so we're not even on the map, really.
