  • Very shocked to not see The Donkey Kongs here but i guess theyre too much of an obvious choice :P good collection!

  • good selection dude :)

  • track at 4:35 please!!!

  • You have some really great classic tracks here and even more interesting, some rare picks as well. The music on Darius, and the level you chose from EDF have always been some of my favorites too.

  • I have another propusal: DOOM, SUPER TURRICA 2, AND CONTRA 3 STAGE 1. Regards !!

  • What is the song from 4:55 to 5:25 ? SOMEONE HELP ME !

  • @PyroPiwi Track 0D - thanks for watching.

  • @PyroPiwi Super Aleste (Space Megaforce) 08 Asteroid Belt

  • @ArturikGDL Thanks. That was more helpful :] Too bad it was only a cut-out piece of the actual song and that was the only good part of it. Great song though!

  • Yoshis Island, Secret of Mana, F-Zero all 3 FTW

  • Secret of Mana Nuff said!!!!!!!

  • I fucking love 8 bit!!!!

  • No FF - IV :ooo

  • aw i wish it was timestamped so i dont have to click and guess whats next everytime i ehar something i dont like :(

  • Final fantasy 3, Donkey Kong Country 2, and Chrono Trigger tunes blow most of these out of the water. I can't believe you didn't include them. The Castlevania tune is great though.

  • Great music :)

  • Considering the superior SNES sound chip, so many more Genesis/Mega Drive games are, well, more tuneful.

  • For castlevania 4 you should have used simon's theme It is by far the best song on the super castlevania 4 soundtrack

  • music like castlevania 4 gives that epic feel that youre actually in an adventure for your life and you have to survive.

  • The music is awesome.16-bit music was the last great videogame music.Videogame Music nowadays tries too hard to sound like a movie.Im not saying games today are bad,but the music is kinda boring compared to 8-bit and 16-bit music.

  • Super NES was superior to Genesis. Graphics and sound. Not even close.

  • where is cybernator?

  • SNES was the last best console. 3D systems were cool when they first came out but got old. I still play the classics since they concentrate in game play compared to today's movie-esque visuals and boring substance. Just my opinion.

  • lol secret of mana is so out of place with all of the other picks

  • CUALQUIERASA LA SELECCION DE TEMAS.,., COMO NO VAN A ESTAR LOS TEMAS DE DKC 1 2 3 O MORTAL KOMBAT O KILLER INSTINCT.,.,.,.,.,.,. FEO VIDEOOO

  • @DjSnes acuerdate iwal de megaman x,,, o si kieres te recomiendo checar la musica de "monty on the run"

  • Horseradish gives me diarrhea

  • Have you ever think of that SNES sounds false?

  • Is there anywhere I could download that Space Megaforce song at 5:00? Please, I MUST know before I die...

  • For the love of God... what is the song at 6:54 - 7:23?!? I assume is Mother 1, since I downloaded - and deleted practically 98% of Mother 2 (Earthbound in USA) entire soundtrack. I take it is from the first one. If so, what's the name?! This song haunts me in my dreams!!! Please help!

  • @intiyacu It's from the second game, it's the theme when you ride a Bus.

  • @Atma505 Bless you Atma505! I'll keep looking but this will narrow my search. Thank you so much!!!

  • @intiyacu watch?v=rzuynOWWgAM ;)

  • @intiyacu You truly are a treasure. I finally got it!!! Now its on my top favorite songs in my music. Rock on, gamer!

  • Why the Castlevania 4 version Bloody Tears? Why not Dracula X's version?

  • Definately a good selection. I would say 'Out of This World' belongs on the list but the Super NES version had the same soundtrack as the original Amiga version, so it's not really Super NES-specific. Still top-notch, though. Act Raiser belongs on this list, though. I always wished there'd been a Super Faxanadu. It would have rivaled Act Raiser for sure.

  • No super metroid = nope

This is not the best ever SNES music.

  • yeah, thumbs up for Pocky and Rocky!

  • I love Pocky and Rocky.

  • axelay, top gear 2 ( where is topgear 1? ) f-zero,and castlevania ( i heard it in pc engine version) i liked them a lot

  • Super Turrican? 1993? Fuck me. I'm getting old.

    Loved that game to death.

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if Pocky and Rocky was the most amazing game ever.

  • Out of all the great tracks from EarthBound, that's the one you pick?!

  • megaman x

  • where is super metroid ?

  • XD did anyone else find it weird that pocky and rocky was on their? Needs more Double Dragon, Earthbound, and Zombies ate my Neighbors

  • I was expeing Pokey means business on there

  • if there's no mystical ninja you're an ass....(waits for it)

(no mystical ninja) ..you're an ass.

[but you have Axelay so I take it back :D]

  • You forgot some good games like super metroid or Doom (the music in the Snes version was badass), Axelay for me is the best one because of the quality, no other Snes Ost have that amazing tunes for a 16 bits console...

  • no metroid =(

  • f zero yeah baby yeah!

  • YEA!!! CASTELVENIA!!!!!!

  • Where is Megaman X ?!?!

  • "best" is a strong word. Criticism is to be expected.

  • this shit is for nerds, and i hate nerds

  • @sticklerwoods So why watch it and post a retarded comment?

  • @sticklerwoods i like to listen to axelay music or.... donkeykong, and im not a nerd.. well i cant prove to u until u meet me....... but if that day comes..... ill take the chance and KICK UR ASS for calling me a nerd

  • @komigennufan shut up nerd

  • @sticklerwoods fuck ur self

  • the best in my opinion is:castle vania 5

  • Seriously you guys, you hear the big name classics EVERYWHERE. Isn't it nice to hear quality songs from games you may never have played? God, you guys are walking cliches.

  • I'm glad you didn't just put the big names like Zelda, Mario and Metroid in there~ you put a lot of obscure classics in there. Don't listen to the haters. :)

  • the strange thing is some of these tracks are actually very genesis alike.very upbeat very techno alike, that was genesis it's department.man both systems are so great at what they did can do.snes is cleaner better quality, genesis is thrashier and more upbeat.genesis is the wild one while snes is the calmer one.wich one is better? you need both right?.there are thing's heard from a genesis undoable one snes, like the bass and other way around.

  • WHERE THE HELL IS DOOM?!?!?!?!

  • @guitarboy2015 Yout kidding me? Doom on the Snes blew ass, stick with the dos version.

  • damn even now when we got Xbox ppl like me rather pop in a snes game and play it all night

  • a list that lacks some of the best music on the system, which was from the many great RPG, Final Fantasy 4 and 6, Soulblazer, Lufia, Zelda, Secret of Mana and many many more

  • @SpiritMoonrise

I Know, my mistake, ment Secret of Mana 2 (not released outside Japan)

  • I love both the SNES and the genesis. I have to say that the SNES game music sounded better. but the genesis does have some really good tunes. It was limited on sound effects too.

    snes > better sound

  • good choice on castlevania 4,that game is amongst my top castlevania songs because it just has some of the best songs in any castlevania i've played.

Most of these are ok at beat in composition music, some of them sound like basic techno music.

  • I would change this name to "Some of the Best SNES Music".

That being said, all are great songs. So well done. :)

  • @jarannalli It's been my intention to make another tribute, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Thanks.

  • @6581r2 Okay then, that makes sense. :)

  • Super Metroid is not on the list!!!??

  • who needs a wii when you got a super nintendo.

  • I could see Thunger Spirits making it, but Kendo Rage? Funny name too...I picture some pissed off Asians in Kendo suits wacking each other

  • Of the ones you chose, I am very impressed. Sure you could have chosen more games, but what ever man. The ones you chose were very cool, and some of them i've never heard before. right on man

  • WHERE IS CHRONO TRIGGER?

  • My love music from Super Nintendo (On SNES there is less than music with innovative motives, than on SMD2. Probably because on SNES almost did not go arcade games) :

WeaponLord - Music at game inclusion (when on the screen show all fighters), is very talented, deep music about it should know many people.

Clock Tower - There only one constant music throughout all game.

Time Cop - Unusual music. It are pleasant to me a little tracks from game, especially at game inclusion, music of stage 1

  • CASTLEVANIA >:D !

  • Good choices :-)

  • It's hard to believe that Jaki Crush is a PINBALL GAME with music that epic.

  • good taste

  • never played Axelay but wow, badass intro

  • Although I love the Sega Genesis and it's Yamaha FM sound, the Super Nintendo's SPC700 also has a classic sound to it. :D

I love both the Genesis and SNES, both great consoles!

  • That "Pocky and Rocky" Theme sounds almost IDENTICAL to many of the songs in The Legend of The Mystical Ninja.

  • @AKMETAL666 Both games take place in a very similar setting (lighthearted feudal Japan), so their soundtracks will naturally have similar motifs.

  • ohhhh yeaaaaahhh...

  • What, no Dancing Mad?

  • No Donkey Kong Country, no Chrono Trigger.. wtf

  • secret of mana music = suck kills kids

  • Those of us who played a lot of super nintendo and sega have probably listened to way more MIDI music than is good for us.

  • Couldn't agree more with slaymaster999, you missed so many gems

  • @BukkakeSniper I knew I couldn't fit all of them in one video - maybe it's time for another one...

  • I doubt most people really remember Space Megaforce now, but it definitely has one of the best soundtracks on SNES imo.

  • Gradius III contains some of the absolute best music ever made for the SNES. The melodies are great, and it sounds clearer and more "electronic" than most SNES soundtracks (the samples used are very high quality).

To this day, it is my favorite soundtrack on the SNES.

  • if you only knew the calming effect these old soundtracks have on me now that im grown up, i miss these fuckin days, not a care in the world, just getting the next game being released! I remember playing Final Fantasy 3 waiting for the next one to be released only to have to wait till FF7 on the PSX. ahh yes the video game evolution, i saw it all happen, and saw it DIE. its dead now by the way.

  • Nuff said man, games may have way better graphics nowdays but fun factor is shit compared to old school games on Nes + Snes.

  • Super Turrican wins for me

  • I've never met anyone else who has played it; but Inindo had some bitching music.

  • Actually I played it shortly when I rented it for a day. Great game with awesome tunes.

  • R.C. Pro Am is better than anything

    :) that should be #1

  • Best video game console ever.

  • @ZidaneTribal93

I like the Genesis better :D

  • @ZidaneTribal93 HELL YEAH!

  • Cosmo Plant in Gradius 3 was good, but Fire Scramble was better, and you're dead on about Star Fox,although I did dig Fortuna...and WRONG! on Earthbound!!

  • why the fuck did you cut of axalay that soon :(

  • where the fuck is super metroid! O.o super mario world!? zelda a link to the past! come on! DONKEY KONG COUNTRY! jesus how could u forget those! D=

  • @slaymaster999 Don't Forget MegaMan X ! :o

  • @slaymaster999 Im glad he posted some under rated music like this, of course we all know about those amazing songs,of those amazing games, but, there are a lot of other really nice themes, wish are under rated..., and this is an example

  • @slaymaster999 At least he got Star Fox, I was starting to worry that he forgot that.

Star Fox on the Super Nintendo hands down has my absolute favorite song on that system.

  • Not really: it's from the clock tower, level 10.

  • Space Megaforce had to be one of the most horrible games EVER!! decent music though.

  • Super Aleste was a great shooter! 10 levels, full of action and almost NO slowdown, which is very rare on SNES shooters

  • The best snes music was in the japanese version of BIOMETAL. A mix of heavy techno. But it was taken out and replaced with shit in the EUR and US releases.

  • Actraiser, Valis, Terranigma, Demon's Crest, Front Mission, Ninja Gaiden, Seiken Densetsu 3, Kunio-kun's games etc.

You missed out some great ones.

  • OMG!!! 7:53 why after all the years your opening up closed wounds, I mean I loved the music and the game, but that was like one of those last stages where they just send every half boss you played in the entire game at you (at the same time)... good times...

  • @BrainStorm88 what part of music is that like on castlevania

  • @feelmature

    Wrong dude

Donkey kong country is the best video game music not only for Super Nes but for any other console

And it's not in this list...

  • @TheMrUsagi I totally agree.. Donkey Kong has the best music and its not in here..

  • Listening to the orchestra hits on the Corneria music while bursting out of the airbase with your wingmen on a quest to give Andross the beans is my favourite memory of the SNES, closely followed by the intro and first level music of Axelay.

They don't put enough thought into the music of games these days, kids now don't know what they're missing.

Also while I was typing this, Super EDF came on. FTW!

  • What the heck are these games? Imperium? Arc Souls? Or whatever?

  • No matter what, The Genesis has the best music to me :) SO UPBEAT!!!

  • No Offense, but no Link to the Past? No Final Fantasy III? No Chrono Trigger? It's a good list, but you missed out on alot

  • Man, you really like spaceships games

    HAUhuahuAhua

You need to play some more snes games, i mean, the very best classics aren't there.

But it is a very good music playlist.

  • The big blue highway from f-zero... Now, that was a game.

  • Yeah, Top Gear!

Man, do I love to race!

  • no chrono trigger???

  • Where's Giygas's battle theme ?

  • It was absorbed by the darkness unfortunately. :(

  • Wow, you've really chosen a lot of great SNES music! I espeacially love the music in Star Fox and the music in Axelay.

  • Where the hell is DK country, Super mario world, UN squadron, Killer instinct, Mega man X, strike gunner, and many others? You need to redo this list, playa.

  • great games from my childhood....snif.

    good video dude.

  • Shoot'em up Fucking great game,yeah!

  • Magic sword also had great music on the SNES

  • hey visit my youtube profile i have guitar pro music i made it.

    :P !!

  • topgear 2 fuck yeah :3

  • No Donkey Kong eh?

  • i always liked earth defense force music, you should look up firepower 2000 that game was ahead of its time in audio.

  • Overall I found the SNES to be the better system because of the developers - but only after a few years. Genesis was the best for a while because they didn't hold anything back (if anyone remembers the whole Mortal Kombat deal way back when) but once Nintendo bit their tongue and loosened their rules a bit it was clear. Sonic is still my favorite platformer, but as for an overall system SNES wins. (Though I still have much more fun writing music on the Genesis, FM synths rock)

  • to be honest this is not a best of snes music at all, its still good but none of the classics are here.

  • at least there's secret of mana

  • Nice, love how you had the bus music from earthbound. My brother and I used to blast the music on the TV when we fought Gygas at the end, which obviously led to us rocking out :P

    Those were the days

  • F-Zero FOREVERRR xD

  • WHAT WAS THE GAME @ 5:35

  • Jaki Crush? A Pinball Game

  • Growing up I had a SuperNES and a fanboy of it, and a friend of mine at the time had a Genesis, him and I would always argue which was better. It wasn't until I was in my early 20's that I got a Genesis, and I have to say, in all honesty, *I* prefer the FM synth of the Genesis over the "dull/muffled" sounds that the SNES samples put off, however to be fair, some SuperNES titles however did indeed simply have amazing tunes. Either way, both systems had some great games in their own right. :D

  • Hyper Greatthing - Darius Twin Dark World - Legend of zelda megaman x - frost penguin forest of illusion(?) - super mario world Super ghouls n' ghost - Ice zone theme donkey kong country - aerofunknamics donkey kong country - mine cart theme aero the acrobat - opening theme pirates of the dark water - prolouge alien vs preditor - prolouge best I can think of right now
  • Axelay...pig latin? Laxe? Nope.

  • AXELAY ROCKS!!

  • The SNES had an amazing sound card... often the sound was insanely good on games. Instruments sounded more natural and less tinny and canned than the Genesis. I remember hooking my SNES up to a boombox just to tape the music from Chrono Trigger when it came out. Doom also had the best soundtrack out of any version on any platform, for some reason.

  • totally dude. I recorded secret of mana on tape and brought it to school in 6th grade lol. friend of mine was like where the hell can I buy that tape!?

  • believe it or not the sound card was developed and made by sony. Nintendo and them also planed for a cd expansion to compete agains Sega but sony was betrayed i guess due to who would own what part of what ultimately resulting to the birth of the Playtation.

  • in the beggining of the super turrican theme sounds like "smooth criminal"

  • you play too much shooters

  • donkey Kong Country,Super Mario World Super Metroid,And Links Awakening Not On The List?

  • They really should on the list. Like C'mon!

  • Axelay OST is the best I think !

Is Thunder Spirit like Thunder Froce ? :o

And Space Megaforce is also known as Super Aleste

  • I loved fzero, but best music Metal Warriors.

  • super castlevania 4 the best

  • unusual selection, good to hear.

  • Best era of games ever

  • yoshi <3

  • BIOMETAL (japanese version)

  • You forgot about Super R-type

  • Secret of Mana owned

  • pocky & rocky!
