  • Thank You very much, as an inspiring jazz musician this type of content is essential to my journey with the genre. Once again thank your very much!

  • i totally agree with you in the fact that coltrane´s music has somethin of "healing" factor, in fact, sometimes it even seems sacred to me, in the sense that it´s like "god" is talking to you through his sax, and when you hear the music it changes instantally your mood (i Can´t listen "Alabama" and stay angry for example) ), i love a lot of differents musicians, but this only happens to me with coltrane´s music

  • @guitapie1 Totally agree.

  • So where do we get the video?

  • @LALJazz You can view on YouTube, or purchase from Amazon. It's part of the Jazz Icons series,

Jazz Icons: John Coltrane Live in '60, '61 & '65

  • I agree. Listening to Coltrane can be a transformative experience. My favorite pieces are Giant Steps and Mr. PC.

  • @gsco82 He left us so much.

  • I thought I was alone in feeling the healing qualities, glad I was wrong :-) Keep up the good work. With my son (18 years old) and you doing the work, all I have to do is enjoy.

  • i absolutely love this song. i agree with the healing qualities of 'trane's music, which are highly metaphysical, yet euphoric. another song of his that comes to my mind, when i hear 'naima', is 'after the rain', which is similarly laid back, but intense at the same time. thanks for reminding us of the video. :)

  • Its' healing qualities...you got that right!! Love these videos and your recommendations.

    Keep them coming!

  • It's boring to see jazz video's? Only if one hates jazz, and that person probably hates sunshine too.

  • @speakeasynyc Yikes!

  • Brett,Thank you so much for posting this.Boring to watch jazzers??? Not me man.No way.Thank you Brett, you really make it worthwhile for me here..."the healing qualities"...yes Sir. I like that.

  • @Guitfiddlejase Thanks so much!

  • This is a classic.Got to be one of the best ballads of all time.I agree it does not matter how you're feeling this tune just lifts you.

  • Beautiful

  • I'm glad you're here doing this. Look forward to the new arrivals in my IN box. Keep fighting the good fight.

  • @jrsjrs9 Can't stop now!

  • Excellent Choice and explanation!!1 Keep Up the Good JazzWork!!!

  • @TheDrRogers OK Doc, I'll keep fighting the good fight, thanks to your support.

  • Keep up the good work. You teach the masses.

  • I completely agree. I play John Coltrane to heal me as well. Just like you said, If I'm down, his music brings me up. If I'm happy, Trane's music uplifts me even further

  • I wish there was less talk and more music as of late.

  • @2005rosebud For these video blogs, there is a lot of talk. If you want more music, check my other 750 videos. What do you like, musically?

  • JazzVideoGuy Wow!! Bret I hadn't seen this video before, music does not get more powerful than this. Thanks for the insight.

  • @Slamule The power of Trane's music will never diminish.

  • Giant Steps is one of my top jazz records. The vid you're talking about is amazing, I once couldn't find it anymore and then I remember it's the one with smoke coming out of Elvin Jones !

  • @TimyCovert Is that wild, with the music and the smoke!

  • One of my favourites here on YT. Nice to know, that other people share the exaltation that i have while watching this video.

The energy of this recording is just incredible.

  • @FlyingJazzPig I could watch this every day.

  • I've seen this video a lot of times too. Specially when I'm feeling down, but it's also good to show me that even If I don't understand all the jazz language, I can feel it.

And Coltrane is really a master, because he transmits those feelings really well. All the quartet is perfect for that.. McCoy Tyner solo is just.. mind blowing.

  • @StromboliKicks That expression really applies here, MIND BLOWING
