i totally agree with you in the fact that coltrane´s music has somethin of "healing" factor, in fact, sometimes it even seems sacred to me, in the sense that it´s like "god" is talking to you through his sax, and when you hear the music it changes instantally your mood (i Can´t listen "Alabama" and stay angry for example) ), i love a lot of differents musicians, but this only happens to me with coltrane´s music
I thought I was alone in feeling the healing qualities, glad I was wrong :-) Keep up the good work. With my son (18 years old) and you doing the work, all I have to do is enjoy.
i absolutely love this song. i agree with the healing qualities of 'trane's music, which are highly metaphysical, yet euphoric. another song of his that comes to my mind, when i hear 'naima', is 'after the rain', which is similarly laid back, but intense at the same time. thanks for reminding us of the video. :)
Brett,Thank you so much for posting this.Boring to watch jazzers??? Not me man.No way.Thank you Brett, you really make it worthwhile for me here..."the healing qualities"...yes Sir. I like that.
I completely agree. I play John Coltrane to heal me as well. Just like you said, If I'm down, his music brings me up. If I'm happy, Trane's music uplifts me even further
Giant Steps is one of my top jazz records. The vid you're talking about is amazing, I once couldn't find it anymore and then I remember it's the one with smoke coming out of Elvin Jones !
I've seen this video a lot of times too. Specially when I'm feeling down, but it's also good to show me that even If I don't understand all the jazz language, I can feel it.
And Coltrane is really a master, because he transmits those feelings really well. All the quartet is perfect for that.. McCoy Tyner solo is just.. mind blowing.
Thank You very much, as an inspiring jazz musician this type of content is essential to my journey with the genre. Once again thank your very much!

It's boring to see jazz video's? Only if one hates jazz, and that person probably hates sunshine too.
