My wife and 3 kids were there when John crashed. It was surreal to say the least. It was my very first drag boat race ever. I've never heard or seen anything more awesome in my life, but yet the very thing that was so awesome was just as equally horrific! Mr. Haas smiled at my daughter 2 hours before the crash while we were touring the pits. She picked that boat as the one she wanted to win because of the genuine smile that he gave her.

God bless John's family and God speed John Haas. :(

I will say one thing...these guys are nuts! You have no real control over the boat. I mean on land you at least have SOME sort of control....
