  • I wonder what tammy thinks when she looks down (or up) on this?

  • I look at this video and see the places that I visited back in the 80's that are now rotting to the ground...it's surreal. I remember this place being FULL of people and completely different from this...and it really was quite a sight to see even though I was not religious at all back then (I went to Heritage with my parents! LOL) It's such a shame that something like this was just let go...left to rot. What a waste!

  • Really enjoyed the video, the music was perfect. Thanks for sharing.

  • A HUGE monument to greed and stupidity

  • What you idiots who love Jim Bakker fail to see is that the same bible that he uses to get your money states quite clearly, that the vipers who use God's name for profit are actually working in a "Den of Thieves" . Just goes to show that not much has changed since the days where Jesus overturned the tables in anger over the Bakker's of those days.

  • Jim Bakker seems to be doing well now,I watch the Jim Bakker show on TCT from time to time... I still love him.. I don't agree with everything he's doing, but I think he means well.

  • I am surprise that sobody with lots of bucks just didn't take over this place years ago when PTL imploded onto itself. I mean, Heritage USA was beautiful to start with.

Shame, that it looks like a shit hole.

  • Man... they should've called this place "Whitey World".

  • @ElAlegreHombre We should call you ignorant :)

  • Love this video Miss it so much will have to go and see the place soon

  • Being in a hurricane prone area, The Barn should have had a metal roof on it. Its a prime example of how quick these buildings were erected without much thought. The Bakkers were larger than life and the money poured in and its a shame how everything turned out. I visited this place in the 80s and I seem to recall everything was expensive. It was a fun place though with alot of things to do for a teen. Who didnt wanna stay in that tower? I still wanna sleep in that thing!

  • @chazoh27

Yeah it was expensive wasn't it? But in the 80s a lot of people had money to blow if I remember.

It was a better environment than Disney though to be sure. I went to Disney World and you never saw a bigger bunch of Freaks. There was a woman in line next to me COVERED in Tattoos, cussing to make a Marine blush, wearing flip flops and a VERY skimpy outfit that was all the more horrible to look at seeing she was very obese.

And YES that 500 room tower would have been COOL!

  • @ThoughtTraveler : DisneyWorld? Heritage USA wasn't in competition w/ DisneyWorld, Silly Goose! Heritage just had to succeed against the stuff that lurks in the dark corners of mens hearts; not against what lurks in kissimee/st. cloud.

  • @chazoh27 I was there too...yes, it was expensive!

  • Maybe the Mormons should buy it

  • Wow, I wish some rich person could have stepped in an bought it and had restored it to it's original state.... what a great property it was!!!!

  • Hurricane Hugo did a SIGNIFICANT amount of damage to the buildings right at the end of PTL...that was the last straw before they closed completely. Go to Wikipedia & type Heritage USA in & you can hear how the remaining buildings are still being used 4 God's Glory! :) It will be nice to read after you view these depressing videos. It says in the Bible "judge NOT lest YE be judged"...the media WILL be in for a surprise someday when they stand before the judgement seat of God @ the end!!

  • @seatboi : the MEDIA will be in for a surprise? this video is on YouTube, this is the MEDIA. Don't just sic your God Wrath on people indiscriminately.

  • @zakoz I'm not "sic"-ing "God-wrath" on the media, just merely stating that the way they humiliated the poor Bakker's & The Charlotte Observer's threat to print a story on private matters that the world did NOT need to know (our sin is between US & GOD & the one with which or at which the sin was commited & NO ONE ELS'ES BUSINESS!!!) was the beginning of the end for this wholesome, family-oriented christian theme park & the christian ministry of PTL...Read Jim Bakker's book "I Was Wrong"

  • @zakoz secondly, the Bible says "if anyone (this would include people of the media) who causes a brother to stumble (printed MANY damaging LIES) might as well have a stone tied to thier neck & be cast into a river for causing a brother to fall" The MEDIA threatening to print about a PRIVATE, RESOLVED matter, Jerry False-well & Jimmy swaggart caused Jim Bakker to sign over PTL to Jerry FALSE well & caused the end of PTL,

  • @zakoz SO, to sum it up, THOSE people who threathened to print the "Jessica Haan Story", that were notified & sabotaged by Jimmy Swaggart, Jimmmy Swaggart & the now DEAD Jerry Falwell (the wages of sin is DEATH) need to REPENT for causing the end of this once-wonderful WHOLESOME, Christ-centered TV network, ministry & Theme park. Had the Charlotte Observer (the MEDIA) had NOT threatened to print, Jim Bakker would have NEVER signed off PTL & it would still be alive today!

  • @zakoz SERIOUSLY...READ "I WAS WRONG" BY JIM BAKKER FOR THE **TRUTH** ON WHAT HAPPENED! You-tube is a bunch of vids uploaded by regular people, NOT the Media...I'm talking about Newspapers, Globe, Tabloids, TV, etc who LIE & EXAGGERATE on a daily basis & spread LIES about PTL & The Bakkers & Jerry Falwell & Jimmy Swaggart who set Jim Bakker up w/Jessica Haan to sabotage PTL cause they were jealous.THEY need to seek God's FORGIVENESS for causing the end of PTL OR WILL pay 4 it on judgement day!

  • @seatboi : thank you; I'll look into the book.

  • I thank you for this. It was a tragic ending. You have been so kind to allow these videos.

  • @LASZLOBOY1

It was tragic. Have you checked out cincinnatigifts 1987-88 H USA videos? They bring back memories. The links are above.

  • I remember performing a drama act on that stage in the late 90's

  • @speedfreak2442

    What was the Drama Act?

  • Thanks for sharing, I noticed that in your video at 39 seconds you show a portion of the barn in a dark brown brick and without the stone. This is a new image of the building since it has been restored. The barn which is shown with holes in the roof is now a production facility and is once again being used to the Glory of God. The pictures while sad, and represent the failures of the modern day church, the pic at the beginning is the restoration of this property.

  • @brijoli

I could never have imagined that the Barn could have been restored as the damage was so extensive. What is it being used for now?

    .

Even the inside conference rooms were trashed. I hope they got to restore everything.

  • Can some one tell me the composer of the back ground music

  • @guynraleigh

    Steve Roach

  • Can somr one tell my what the name back gound music was.

  • It's amazing that the stage shown at 4:03 was the same one on which Jim & Tammy appeared for the Dec 31, 1986 New Year Eve show (see my vids). Upon this stage would be some of the last times Jim & Tammy would appear in front of a live congregation as well as a live PTL TV audience while reigning over PTL. Jim & Tammy did not appear much on TV while on the grounds of Heritage USA after Jan 2, 1987.

Sadly, uncontrollable events would soon follow which would hasten the destruction of Heritage USA.

  • That stage now compared to what Jim and Tammy had....horrible. What wonderful music and fun people had in that building.

Heritage Church was a WONDERFUL facility. Why it was not saved from such decay and neglect is criminal. Some religious organization could have stepped in and saved it. It would have made a great Christian conference center or a ministry headquarters.

    Tragic!

  • Of course Fraudwell saw to it that it all went down the tubes. He never agreed with the concept of a Christian Theme Park. After reading Jim's book a few times I thought Fraudwell was just a bumbling administrator. I have since changed my position on that.

  • The same pool shown at 5:31 is also seen at 5:40, completely abandoned and completely lifeless, except for the masses of algae growing in the stagnant water. At 5:55 appears to be one of the shuffleboards. I think I can just barely make out one of the large triangles in the foreground, close to the cameraman.

The before-and-after images are startling and saddening :(

I believe the statue shown at 7:35 has already or will soon be removed. As of June '09, it was still next to the Upper Room.

  • The pool shown at 5:31 was the first pool at Heritage USA. I remember swimming here in July 1982 when I first visited HUSA. This is an image of early Recreation Village, and also visible are the tennis courts, miniature golf and the shuffleboards. I believe the building in the lower left corner was a small restaurant. The building at the far end of the pool was the showers/ pool locker rooms. The camping area would have been to the left of the pool in this image

  • That answers my question....I asked myself why would Jim build such a small pool? It was done in 1982 before H USA became such a success and Heritage Island was constructed. It was for the campers and people who stayed at the Recreation Village.
