Here in Australia, the hot-rodders have "discovered" the old British Fords, such as the PILOT which were much more common than the "American" (Canadian) Fords.
A Pilot has enough mechanical similarity to the US Fords to be easily "hot-rodded" too.
I originally bought the car with the intention of scrapping for the parts to build my hotrod but on getting it home imediately realised that although the body and interior were way past restoring, the running gear and chassis were in near perfect condition, far too good to scrap so with the flatty borrowed from the rod and a set of tyres I moted it. Ive run it like that now for 4 years and have no intention of ever restoring it as I love it as it is, just jump in and go.
Believe me, this car is fantastic! It was my wedding that I was taken to in this with that lovely exhaust sound (shame the church was only a few miles from the house)! Don't ever restore this matey.. leave it as it is!
Dude They Aren't Called "Loud Pipes" Smart One...They Are Called "Straight Pipes" Because It Does Not Have A Muffler And It Comes Straight Out Of The Headers
Hey! the steering wheel is on the wrong side. That would cause trouble going thru the drive up window at the Taco-Bell. But, She sure does sound sweet, Flatheads forever!
Its all as it left the factory in Dagenham in 1951 except for the lack of wings, which Ive still got and will probably put back on one day, and Ive swapped the original 21 stud V8flatty for a French 24 stud.
@tpvalley Actually apparently it's perfectly legal to have nothing over the wheels at all, you can have all 4 wheels with nothing on them, not even small mud guards, but that's only if you drive it in the dry and never in the rain, then the wheels would spray up water a lot, which is why they become illegal
That's awesome.

My brother had one of these in 1962. It was a 1948 and painted jet black.

I agree... just fine as it is.. There's too much polish in this world already. Restored cars are so soulless!!

Normally it is yes, but for some reason this one doesn't suffer from it at all, I guess Ive just been lucky with it.

Right hand drive!
Was this made with a v8?
U could fit electric water pump and bigger rad if it did get hot, not yours, but if it did.
Sounds cool.
