we have smaller wolf spiders here in the sierras. i find them in the house and use a greeting card to guide them into a styrofoam cup and put them outside. works every time. last night rescued one carrying her eggs. also use the card and cup for other small animals found in the house: tree frogs, little lizards, crickets, manti, beetles, moths, wasps, other types of spiders, scorpions, centipedes, etc. they're all precious and an important part of the system.

@CyberRabid No, that's not a Brown Recluse. If you take a hard look, you'll notice at least one identifying mark missing on that spider: the dark brown, violin-shped marking on its back.

@XVXBEAVERXVX yes they do not work together at all. but at the time i made this video i was an EXTREMELY huge jonas brothers fan. and i had made it for my friend who loves JB and wolf spiders. since then i'm not friends with her and i CAN'T STAND the jonas brothers!!!!

All spiders are venomous just not all are dangerous to humans as they either can't pierce skin with their fangs or the toxin doesn't affect us. And there is a difference between poisonous and venomous. Poison has to be ingested or absorbed through skin, eyes etc and venom is injected through fangs.

Wolf Spiders ain't venomous infact they are the shy type and avoid humans as they can. They will only bite when threatened and although the bite is painful (quite large fangs) but not deadly (non venomous). I have them on my home and they are nice cockroach terminators lol

Denver is full of these 3" critters. They are smart and fast. They are the most common cause of spider bites to humans. I had one living in my couch for months but he only bit visitors. He was smart! My cat won't go near these things. Fly swatters bounce off of them! Their bite is like a bad mosquitoe bite. Just hold it under hot water to kill the poison. It'll reduce swelling too. Hot water works great on mosquitoe bites to! Make it as hot as you can stand it. No more itch!

Actually, wolf spiders are very vicious and are one of few species which actually chase their prey. That's why (when I had arachnophobia) they were high on my list of species to violently avoid.

I only hate brown recluse's and black widow cause they are dangerous. Wolf spiders on the other had is our defense against common household pest like cockroaches

creepy! i live just south of chicago and about 10 years ago i was hiking in the woods and came across a really big spider. it was appx 5 inches long and dark brown almost black. kinda furry but no visible markings. it was very quick, not sluggish like a tarantula. people in this geographical region doubt what i saw. but i know what i saw, and it was that big. didnt look like a wolf spider though, it was way darker than in this vid. what do u think it could have been??? i've been wondering!

thats a wolf spider they do get quite big but are harmless and eat alot of pests like roaches. they are closely relate dto the tarantula family. most wolf spiders are difffrent colors some are black, dark, brown. tan, white, gray. hope it helps

Where I grew-up in Yooperland we had lots of wolf spiders. As a kid I was afraid of them at first but after reading about them I realized they were my friends. When we vacationed in Yooperland with our children we'd find a mother with her brood so we could watch their progress thru the summer. Lots of real good biology went on.

Hate to tell you but there were a couple of Grass Spiders, not Wolf Spiders in your video. The bold striped pattern is the identifying feature. For those asking why we should like them, the big Wolf Spiders and Grass Spiders will kill and eat Brown Recluse AKA Fiddleback Spiders, among other pests, so DON'T KILL THEM!! They are very beneficial to humans!!

actually it is a wolf. the recluse doesn't have the patterns down it's back(called a union jack). other than that they are pretty similar.
