  • but 何 also means nani right?

  • Nan sai nan sai nan sai desu ka? (what age what age how old r u)

  • So ... for 'twenty,' you'd write 二十歳, but pronounce it 'hatachi?'

  • Jyuu san desu

  • jyuu go :)

  • does "desuka" turn everything into a question?

Also whats the difference between desu and desuka?

Whats the point of the ka?

    Thanks in advance =)!

  • @RyanHolden91 from what i know ,when you add 'ka' at the end of the sentance it becomes a question, and the 'desu' shows that your being polite but im not entierly sure.

  • @RyanHolden91 the desu is a form of their punctuation in many cases, while desu ka is the same thing, only the ka acts as a question mark. In some cases where it's an assumed question, you don't need it, such as 'o namae wa?' needs a normal question mark, but it's kind of like in English with how we're all like 'Your name......?'

  • Jyuu san desu :3

  • I've had this song in my head for 3 days.

  • I even sing this while taking a shower.... all these songs are soooo catchy!

    I love it <3

  • It's not my fault that it's stuck in my head! Sensei played this song for the class! At least I like it. It helps to study for tests.

  • it stopped right before my age. So i guess 33 is san jyuu san sai?

  • im jyuu ichi!

  • Unfortunately, I ignored the Description. Now i dream of this song every night.

  • @SunshineTheHedgehog I ignored it to lol do you see the sheep in your dreams?

  • ooh!!! so you basicly add 'Sai' to the end of most of the numbers?

  • if you can use nan sai desu ka then what about oikustsu desu ka?

  • @TheZono001 You can use both, "nan sai" you seem to hear more often, plus it's easier to say!

  • @TheZono001 I thought "oikutsu desuka" is more formal than "nansai desuka", you can use both of them I guess :)

  • errrrr so this makes it that a number ending with "chi" needs to be "s" instead of "chi" if its with ''sai'' ? right ? ex. ichi = issai/ hachi = hassai. if its correct then shouldnt jyuu ichi be jyuu issai if its with the ''sai'' too? same with ni jyuu hachi (ni jyuu hassai) san jyuu ichi (san jyuu issai). i got confused cause they didnt include the ''sai'' in those XDD

  • @XXsoltyXX If it was there you'd be right! I don't want to make it too easy for you!

  • @GenkiJapanNet ah i see xD

  • would you say "hatachi sai" or just "hatachi"??

p.s. your videos have helped me so much! thank you so much ^_^

p.p.s. I don't know if I have seen it (but i've basically watched all your videos) and if I don't remember you having it sowwieeee but if you don't have it I was wondering could you some day make a time telling song?

  • @helloprincessx3 Just "hatachi" I don't have a time song yet, but there's a time game on the genkijapan[dot] net site!

  • Thank you, I always remember it then. It's helpful :)

  • Thumbs up.

  • watashi wa jyuu kyuu sai desu!!!! ;D

  • 私は十七歳です!^。^

    ありがとうございます元気じゃぱん!! ^^

  • iv been trying to learn japanese for a long time and then i bought my japanese coach. its been good so far, but does anyone recomend anything else? to go along?

  • i love these little educational songs lol they r so fun and help alot

  • 十四

    JYUU YON!!

  • so basically its just the number plus sai? the exception of numbers ending in an 8 or 20, of course.

  • i am jyuu :P

  • jyuu go sai :D

  • You lost me a 20 XD

  • very helpful

  • **Sings "jyuu nana sai"** AHHH I can't get it out of my head! xD Thanks for the video, really helped ^_^

  • everything was good until the 20 u.u

watashi wa ni juu nana sai desu. =)

  • Thank you so much for making these songs! They've helped me alot since they're so easy yet effective. Thumbs up for you guys!

    十五です。 ^_^

  • So since Im 14 it would be jyuu yon sai ?

  • I just found this. Is it new? It's awesome.

  • LOVED this one, even my four year old was singing with me...So cute, catchy, and easy! Thank you.

  • I note that the song does not go up to my age :) I feel really old.

  • jyuu nana sai! :)

  • jyuu hassai! but jyuu kyuu sai in 1 month! WOOP

  • xD AWESOME

    gonna learn this x3

  • I LOVE this!! It will be stuck in my head aaalllll day now haha, and I've already learnt it that quickly! thanks alot! :3

  • Another good song. Thanks for posting, they're so easy to remember. And catchy as well.

  • jyuu hassai :]

  • @DrasulDarkela watashi mo!!!!!!!

  • They didn't get to 46. I feel old and irrelevant now. And yet now in the west apparently 80% of the population is still older than me, or something.

  • @usenetposts

hi, i think it´s yon jyuu roku (sai).

so no feel young and important and be genki!! ^_____^

  • Jyuu Roku ^_^

  • This is awesome!

  • Huh, in my Japanese class at school, 'eleven' (i am that age) is "juissai". Is it that or "juichissai"?

  • @lollydove With "sai" on the end it becomes "issai"

  • Quick question, why is it that when you say 21, you use "いっさい" for the 1, but for 31 you use "いち" instead?

二十一 (ni jyuu ichi) was what I had learned.

  • @thuggnangel421 If 31 had the "sai" at the end it would be "issai" as well.

  • Haha, this was great. I actually started the Michel Thomas Japanese program just like you recommended and I'm about to finish the foundation course :D. It's been great and I feel like I've been learning so much. Should I go to the advanced michel thomas course after I finish the foundation?

  • @uriarte411 That's what I usually do, they usually flow together quite well!

  • jyu go :3 thats how old i am :D

  • Thank you for posting. I always enjoy watching your videos.

  • Thanks for the videos they help alot because its a change from just writing down notes from websites. I hope to become fluent in japanese in a year or so. After I graduate highschool I want to get a visa that will allow me to live in japan until I can apply for citizenship the only problem is I don't know what visa I'll be able to apply for at that time and also I want to move there almost immediately after highschool.

  • These songs give the genki feeling of eureka.

  • Jyuu hassai!!! :D

  • nan sai de su ka.. i think i only got that lol

  • 何歳,何歳,何歳..ですか? 一歳,二歳,三歳,四歳,五歳,六歳,七歳,...

  • thank you for posting this, can you make more videos?

  • @erikmendoza03 They do take a long time to make, but yeah the more support I can get (especially links to the website, hint, hint!!) the easier it is for me to make new ones!

  • You can say the "-sai" suffix after 九, 十, etc. right? Or was the -sai just dropped to make it fit the music?

And yea that hatachi was completely wild and different. What is the history behind how they chose that word? Usually you would hear a "ni," or "fu." That's just one minor inconvenience I have with Japanese is they make it so simple, but they occasionally throw a wild curve-ball as if to mock foreigners attempting to learn their language :).

  • @RelVleDy Yeah, the "sai" was missing just to make it fit the music (and not sound quite so repetitive!)

Not sure about the hatachi... anyone else know?

The irregulars always happen to the most often used words. This week we had Japanese students doing the English going 10th, 9th, 8th, 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th .... dead easy, but then it goes off to 3rd, then 2nd, then 1st!! They thought it was weird too!

  • @GenkiJapanNet I had never considered 1st, 2nd, and 3rd being hard, but yea that does make sense. I guess English has its share of curve-balls too :).

  • So cute! ^-^

  • ABOUT TIME!!!

  • I love it lol arggghhh I can't get it out my head!!!!!!!

  • @TheDudeFrmOverThere I did warn you! : )

  • so catchy :)
