Build it across the bering strait!!! if you put an et3 train then you may have to commute for 2 hours to London, instead of 1, boo fucking hoo. Actually: build a DAM across the bering strait, gut lots of power out of it as well.
awesome, but what if a ship above sinks, and hits the tube...
a multi-trillion dollar project probably ruined. The velocity of the air and water introduced into the tube (and the accompanying debris) would probably destroy everything in the tube, not to mention probably contort and destroy the structure... then there's always the reality of raising this giant sunken tube that is thousands of miles long on either side, without snapping it in more pieces.
That scenario will be extremely unlikely, this tunnel will at most be about a hundred feet in width, minuscule among the thousands of miles of water. Chances are, if such a ship sinks (which is also rare and unlikely), it won't hit it. And ships would probably be forbidden to travel anywhere near it anyway.
Agreed, on the tremendous unlikelihood. However, (and I apologize for not re-watching to find out) I think the tube crosses either the trans-atlantic jet gulf stream or another shipping lane in the north sea. I'm not very knowledgeable about ocean traffic, but if the tunnel has a stop in Iceland, then its definitely more northern and out of the shipping jet gulf stream.
Am no scientist but installing wind propelled generators way out in the ocean where wind is constant, well,ok enough to power everthing elctrical for the tunnel,...wow i wish, huh?
@euno14 The main problems with this project would the amount of steel, the amount of dollars and security, as this would be an ideal terrorist target.
@CinnabonChan snookie is not my type and you have a type zero civilization mentality!

@BatusaiJack Then you and Snookie could spread genital warts on both sides of the Atlantic.
It truly would be a Brave New World.
