lol, the new Avengers Illuminati was a oneshot leading into the Marvel Civil War, that basically declared there was an underground group consisting of the top members of all the major Hero teams (Mr fantastic, Prof X, Ironman, Blck Panther, Thunderbolt, and Namor) which made all the big decisions, unbeknown to the rest of the teams.

This show is great for all the little references and jokes that only make sense to the hardcore fan, but they all go by without notice unless get both meanings.
