I wish there were more clips like this of Murphy, I saw one after the 27-0 at Wembley. I was surprised at how calm he was - the players were demoralised and he didn't jump on their heads he picked them back up. There must have been two sides of the great man, he wasn't always a bawler and shouter, great man-manager, like Brian Clough he wasn't everyones cup of tea but he had players who would follow him from club to club to the ends of the earth as they knew he would win you trophies !!!
take a look at jack gibson, he was with parra for 3 years and won all those years. his nickname was the supercoach. bennett is goood, but there have been better coaches. feel free to argue
@no1wiganrlfan It was around 1983/84 and the game was against Hull KR who turned up that day with a make shift team and still beat Wigan. Classic clip.
Noticed Gary Stephens, Brian Juliff & Mick Scott (with hair) in that Wigan team. They all signed for Halifax and had their day in 1987 at Wembley against Murphy when he was Saints coach...
I'd have loved to heard Auntie Maurice at the end when he popped his head round the door "C'mon you're nice big boys and Alex doesn't mean to shout !!!"
Be a waste of time throwing a phone at him today!(For those of you who remember!) Nothing like a good Deal or No Deal Handset launched by Maurice! Only Stevie Wonder could miss with one of those!
murphy signed tommy martyn snr three times, thats respect for tommy from a legend

I would rate even Warren Ryan ahead of Wayne Bennett.
