yates didnt make the row popular, it is a very basic back exercise, and he doesn't stand on a step because his range of motion is very limited. The reason hes version is named after him is because he used the underhand grip where you usually use the overhand for rows and he also had a 45 degree bend at the waist to maximize power, he also tore hes bicep doing that but it was like 5 plates. Arnold is the one who use to do hes rows on a step and go all the way down past hes toes.
can you 4 muppets tell me why this isnt a yates row? is exactly a yates row perfect bent over row mate dont listen to these faggots they probably never been to a gym before! just cos its not 4 plates aside, god retads.
@mm1k3y true there is a lot of bs on youtube, but its also true that this is a normal row. A yates row isn't done with a deep bend at the waist and a rounded back. The whole point of the yates row is to keep a solid straight back, the chest out and the shoulders nice and tight back with around a 40 degree bend at the waist and loose knees, then bring the weight up into the waist. There are different grips and footing depending on preference but the basics don't change.
@Pule3 no its called a yates row because he made it popular... the only thing dorian yates does different is stand on a step, the technique is right tho.
@mm1k3y Nah man. A Yates row is an underhand row, with your back at a little straighter than a 45 degree angle, so you can keep a strong natural arch.
This guy bends over like he's trying to touch his toes, and rounds his back to an extent which could cause pretty severe back injuries if he were using real weight. If someone watches this video, and attempts to do heavy rows in this manner, they will hurt themselves.
That's terrible. This is literally how NOT to row.
