  • such an under rated, partially forgotten song...

  • This song reminds me of my mum driving me to national school

  • STOP GOING ON ABOUT THAT POLISH SONG,ITS FUCKING SHIT..THIS IS A CLASSICZL..FAGGOTS..

  • A truly gentle and wonderful song with timeless lyrics about the innocent joy of youthful love that unfortunately loses its savor over time. "I was yours and you were mine. But that was once upon a time. Now we never seem to rock and roll... No, we never seem to rock and roll anymore."

  • sorry but Poland was so much better....

  • @udenss sorry but poland wasn't so much better if it was it would have won :D

  • @JordoF6 A large proportion of people write in comments that Edyta should win because she was the best. And they are right! :P

  • Song of my childhood

  • the BEST song of Eurovision EVER

  • And we never FUCKIN rock and roll anymore!

  • The best eurovision song ever !!!! (i'm from serbia) perfect performance, beautiful song.... congratulations to Paul and Charlie

  • 3:32 whoops wrong note

    Haha, love his expression there.

  • Love it!! Would have been even funnier to send Dustin back in the days when it wasn't crazy!! Ahhh me childhood!! :)

  • R.I.P Jerry looked like a pillock but did a great job. sadly missed

  • such a wonderfull song

    i love it

  • the best year in ireland ever!!!!!!! 3 in a row eurovision, beating italy in the world cup, riverdance the start of the celtic tiger magic!!!!

  • Jedward better!

  • In my opinion our best winning song.

  • sorry but Gorniak was better ...

  • i wasnt even born when this was sung. yet i still consider it one if my favourite esc entries ever :)

  • I find this song incredibly touching. I was only 10yrs old when it was on the Eurovision and I don't think it's aged at all. It's extremely nostalgic and most certainly gave me my first emotional connection to music. I thank Paul Harrington and Charlie McGhettigan.

  • will ye fuck off with yer edyta shit ! rock n roll kids is a classic cmon Ireland !

  • god this brings back good memorys..

  • @huds1223 Great times being a 9 year old looking forward to watch Ireland play in World Cup 1994.

  • Wow. Some Polish people don't let a grudge go. It's only the Eurovision song contest. I checked out the Polish entry expecting it to be great. It was fine and definitely worthy of second place. So, with that said, congratulations on getting second place. You guys were best of all the losers.

  • and this song had won?? UK is much better indeed.

  • HeH the year i was born i m proud i was born on this year.I love this song :,)

  • Edyta Górniak was few times better in my opinion.

  • Fuck this now we have jedward woo! I joke.. pity we can't produce songs like this anymore and auld gerry up there in his tin of fruit wha.

  • @etniesdub I'm sure we could write songs like this, but RTE ignore good songs for fear of having to pay for Eurovision in Dublin. Furthermore, if we were to write song like this again, we wouldn't stand a chance against the reunited Soviet blocks if Lithuania/Ukrania/Polandaiski/bulgariumski.... "aynd thayooor nighboooorrs"

  • We were never going to lose this one, not while we had Chuck Norris on guitar and backing vocals.

  • I was yours and you were mine but that was once upon a time. :')

  • I went to listen this Edyta whatever, cause I've seen somebody writing it's supposed to be better then this song.... Well, your pusher must be doin very good job though.

  • there are loads of people saying poland should have won this year but of all the songs that have been on eurovision over the years rock and roll kids is actually the only one that has ever stayed with me. i still think its a great song and one of the best the eurovision has ever produced.

  • I was born this year :3 Wonderful song indeed <3

  • better than jedwards. definitely

  • Never knew Tim Roth could sing.

  • such an arsehole berlincelt,

  • Years in the wilderness, then all of a sudden. 'A Bani bi a bani be'. Genius...

  • You can see Coke dripping from Gerrys nose

  • @berlincelt Mature comment. Well done.

  • @berlincelt cunt

  • best eurovision song ever

  • @Skenny14 definitely :)

  • a very young looking gerry ryan

  • excellent! give them lads their rock n roll days back!!! also silver fox is rockin the grey beard

  • SO GREAT. Fabelous. One of the very best songs that has ever won the eurovision

  • Poland should have won

  • @eesceet Yeah, well, Ireland beat them by around 70 points even though they came second, so they never had a chance.

  • What language is that???

  • @joydivided23 English!

  • @joydivided23 gaeilge :)

  • Must be the best song about gay love in the eurovision history.

  • @HugoLindmark Wat a sad immature little comment to make!No other country has music like Ireland we were in a laegue of our own and we deserved to win so get a life and stop leaving stupid comments on great videos like this!Oh look at that no1 even liked your comment awwww poor form ha!:D

  • @mesh5very I don't understand what you're talking about. Two elderly men singing a beautiful song about when they were kids and in love.

I can't see the controversy in that.

Is it immature to talk about gay love? Is it just the same as slagging someone off to you?

If so, grow up and live in the present.

  • Alison Deech loves John McCabe

  • what a night

  • One of those songs, as soon as heard just knew it would win.

  • Love this song soooo much (:

  • Vem av dom är Paul och vem är Charlie.

  • I still love this song.

  • Back when the negative term "Song festival material" wasn't invented yet... they new how to make great songs!

  • i was 6 when i first saw this! this song stuck with my parents. they tape recorded it and we would have it playing every christmas around the house. brings back good memories. i love it so much!!...that was also the same time i saw the river dance on the eurovision...i became obsessed with the irish culture (im not irish). and now so many years later found true love with my irish bf. I LOVE all things IRISH! <3

    thank you paul and charlie!

  • To ścierwo nadaje się do śmieci nie wiem co za debile to wybrali masakra!!!!!

  • three wins in a row for the irish!

  • A joke we've went from truly amazing songs like this to Jedward

  • @dboyle782 I don't think it's what we're sending in that's a joke, I think it's the eurovision that's the joke. This song is truly, genuinely amazing. Look back on what's won the past 6 or 7 years and it's all rubbish!

  • It makes me sad to think we've gone from songs as great as Rock 'n Roll Kids to crap like Lipstick by Jedward. :( If only time travel were possible ....

  • Beautiful song. This was real Ireland, before the real pretence of the Celtic Tiger that we still haven't fully shaken off. Good times. Paul Harro is a sound bloke too!

  • @cormacl great song indeed , true winners of the competition no political bias needed. thats how i like it

  • unusually black hair

  • This was back when Eurovision was all about good songs, not a circus freak show

  • 21 people never listened to rock 'n' roll

  • This is great. The studio version lack all the charm of the unplugged version here.

  • My absolute favorite duet song... Love it!

  • Edyta sould Win , not ireland , it's cool but Edyta was by much cooooool and professional !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's not fair !

  • @paulo88wolsztyn ireland was better get over it..the song is more catchy..

  • @paulo88wolsztyn

Well since all of eastern europe is involved in a massive geopolitical circle jerk it shouldn't be too hard for Poland to win now.

  • @Primordialfan1 well said :) "euro" vision is a feckin joke now, neighbours voting for each other. It's shifted from musical to political. So well done to anyone who wins now - congratulations on not necessaarily having the best song, but more likely having the most amount of little clique -y countries surrounding you ;)

  • TBH the polish entry was quite good, but this is catchier and more memorable.

  • It's funny how many people resent this entry for beating "To nie ja" with Edyta Gorniak that year. Well, it didn't need to win sixty points over the runner-up, but it's still a lovely ballad and a totally fair winner. And "To nie ja" still came 2nd place and still is the best ranked Polish entry to this day, and that at Poland's de facto debut, so I don't see any reason to complain.

  • I Love This Song :)

  • I don't know which is more embarrassing, this song or Gerry Ryan. What pisses me off about the song is that it's full of American clichés. Nobody in Ireland was wearing blue suede shoes or bobby socks, and people were listening to showbands, not rock'n'roll. Brendan Graham got lazy and wrote a song that was not authentic for either him or Ireland.

  • the guy on the piano looks like the butler from scary movie 2

  • @fordeeee9 only if he was taking crack,it would be funny to see that butler fingering some girl with his bandy hand..

  • This song was far too good for the crap that is Eurovision! RIP Robert Harrington (brother of Paul) did a course with him a few years back, soundest man u could ever meet!

  • It's good, but I think that Edyta Gorniak with 'To nie ja' should've won at 1994 Eurovision.

  • @MrRollPoll no this song was way better..its more catchy and sounds better..

  • @MrRollPoll controversial call there

  • @MrRollPoll aw but it didn't so hard luck?

  • @MrRollPoll Yes it's really good indeed, but I think that Friderika from Hungary should have won that year.:)

  • @MrRollPoll

    Exactly

  • @MrRollPoll Go away back to Auswitch, dopes.

  • @MrRollPoll This is obviously some type of bullshit windup, isn't it?

  • @MrRollPoll no the poilsh song was shit and boring, thats why it didnt win..

  • @MrRollPoll

dont talk shite, this is the best song from the eurovision ever, in fact the only good song from the eurovision EVER

  • This song has a lot of meaning to me and will forever more. My father died in the same year this song came out and the chorus of the song always gets me thinking of me and hin when he was alive

  • Woogie could take ajoke lolzzzzzzzzzz

  • Great to see you Gerry there at the start! Best song ever to enter eurrovision

  • Ireland RAPED everyone for 3 years in a row. Wow.

  • Riverdance won this for Ireland, afterall isn't it during the interval that the votes (when juries were around) were decided?

  • It is dutsh. A mix of German, English and an cold :-)

  • aaaaaaaaaah what language is he talking?:S

  • really boring and so overrated!

poland and germany were million times better!

  • @TheTurkishboy90 Whatever you say there Kebab boy :)

  • What happened to us. We used to be a country that wasn't afraid to speak our hearts. I fear that greed has stolen the soul of this nation and now? well now we never seem to rock and roll anymore.

  • this was when the eurovision was about music and not the stuff you see today... a beautiful song

  • booooooooring edyta gorniak was 1000 times better than this boooring song....

  • Reminds me of my daddy (: ♥

  • Honest to god Im 18 & this was my childhood song.

My mam would play it for my sister & I!

It was the only thing that kept us quiet.. and Im soo happy to say it still has the same effect on me.!

It's probably gonna be my favourite song for the rest of my life!

I just love it unconditinally :)

  • well done ireland...love to dublin xxx

  • @janiboy111 u jealous dumb fag go suck another cock

  • One of the three best Eurovision songs ever, along with Nocturne (1995) and I Treni Di Tozeur (1984). It won big, and it deserved to!

  • alle daumen hoch...

  • amazing ,, dis is wat growing is about :) love dis song

  • wat a song

  • pfff... boring boring boring... sing for old people. Edyta Górniak is true winner!

  • @qbas16 :)))))))))))))))

  • @qbas16 this is a classic song dude...its a song which lives forever, and definitely not for old ppl!

  • Fuck those french basterds!!!! soiling our thingy!!!!!

  • good but boring :P

  • this is like fine wine...the older it becomes, the better it gets :)

  • @esc4all Aww you couldnt be more right :-)

  • @esc4all Yeah I still love this song and am singing along while listening.

  • I can't understand how people don't agree that this song deserved to win - it epitomises all that is good about the Eurovision! There were no flashy costumes and no half naked dancers... all this needed was a piano, a guitar, and two incredible singers. This is what the Eurovision should be!!

  • @suetinz Have you ever heard the song that was one place behind them? Edyta Gorniak - To nie ja bylam Ewa. an incredible voice and a very beautiful song

  • @suetinz hi the only reason that people don't like the fact that this song won is just because that they are jealous begrudging bastards.... and they can't bear to see a small country like Ireland do so well....

  • 3:34 i think he made a mistake :P :P what a man

  • Nobody does nostalgia like the Irish. World class.

  • polands was absolutely shit

  • @donvit2 ....shit?...seems it is your name....

  • @brati111 nice english there.

  • best eurovision song.... Agree?

  • So special and sweet song.

  • what a beautiful beautiful song! Long live the Irish and their amazing creative talent!

  • hard to think Gerry Ryan is dead just 16 years later.. He looked so young there.

  • Epic song

  • wow, this song really shows what two voices, a guitar and a piano can do, it really touches your heart

  • nice song but just nice, like many.... Poland should winn... xD

but i agree, eurovision is from year to year worst and worst!!!

  • @fraglespb aRE YOU KIDDING??? Poland sucked. Rock N roll Kids is awesome song.

  • @Risti2ss

yeah... keep talking... i will never change my mind about that. POLAND SHOULD WINN!!! xD

  • Comment removed

  • @garyh86

    about that "@fraglespb polish c@@t...

i wish germany would invade you again lol. "

you are an moron and you are worthless to talk to.

go and listen rihana... it is your level ... you sick f@@k!!!

  • I dont want do offend anyone but this is for me one of the worse winning songs EVER!!! I m not polish but Poland was soooooooooooooooooo better than this. This song deserved only top 5 for me (at the bottom of the top actually).

  • Then you have no taste in music my friend...

  • @Tilkoman and who are you to judge my taste, friend?

  • @johny7even you're right, this is, as you say in polish, guvno. i am irish and i know paul harrington but the best thing about poland my friend is not their music but their totally beautiful women.

  • @johny7even well u can't change history... so that's that..

  • @vigerfa i did not try to change it...:p

  • Great song, outclassed eurovision standards. Strange to see poor oul Gerry Ryan there in the best of health, lord have mercy on him.

  • This is a beautiful song, well-sung and performed. Definitely one of this year's highlights. But a winner? I will never make peace with its victory. The field had stronger, worthier contenders as far as I'm concerned, i.e. Poland, Hungary, the UK. That it won by such a mile baffles me even more. Much as I love 1994, I'm afraid it's another blunt reminder how the concept of a song 'contest' can tamper with you emotionally.

  • @setheurovision94 Ireland had a song with three talents in it piano guitar and voices, such a beautifully written song. The Poland Entery was gud and the other one's too. But none of those songs wer as magnificentaly written as dis one. it is a true classic and to me is the best eurovision entry. u just dont get ppl singing like dis anymore, singin wit a guitar and most special a piano. Brilliant!!

  • @setheurovision94

This was a wonderful, well-sung number, but 1994 was the advent of Riverdance and i suspect that dance sequence swung the result Ireland's way.

  • @setheurovision94 Ireland made Eurovision history in 1994..... history was made.. and whether others like it or not.... history was made... like it or not!!!!

  • This is the best ESC winner ever with Luxembourg '65 and Denmark '00!!

  • ok this is good, but Poland should have won. they were great, best ever song!!!

  • I like this silent song - without any silly show effects!

  • man, it sucks

  • i hate how people think this song didnt deserve ta win!!! This is the best song eurovision ever produced!! 1 guitar, 1 piano, 2 great voices!

  • @mountnugent1949 i totally agree

  • good times... when it was still a SONG festival... .. yes, about the SONG...

  • I love this song. Its simple, it just required a piano and a guitar and no gimmicks like half naked men prancing around the stage in glitter. The lyrics are so sad, two men lamenting a lost youth. And i really dont get the big deal over the Polish entry? am i missing something? the most generic ballad ever, all that was missing were the smoke machines and meg Ryan crying in the background. I think people forget it is a song competition. And what a song this was.

  • aw beautiful song.. reminds me of my childhood! RIP Gerry

  • dana put ireland on the map and she's wehhhh

  • i have the feeling, that this song could still do very well in ESC nowadays ! i may not quite like it, but its depth is very easy to feel...

  • This song is just brilliant!! Two great singers!! Ah the memories!! Too bad we'll never experience winning again!!

  • My childhood was full of memories of Ireland doing well in the Eurovision, I don't understand why this decade we've come up with really awful music, horrendous noise more like.
