I think in mild climates domestic ducks can do just fine at parks. However, they cross-breed with mallards and create kids who can't fly or migrate - resulting in overpopulation (and hungry ducks). I've heard the best treat (aside from actual duck food) is Cheerios cereal. I tried feeding park ducks healthy treats like I feed my own ducks, but they just looked at me funny. Cheerios should be a nutritious treat for them though. Wheat bagel sounds okay too.
The white ducks (or ones like them) have been at that pond for a long time and seem to be getting along fine there. I visit that area only about 3 times a year. Not sure if I fed them the best duck food, but gave them very small pieces from a wheat bagel with lots of seeds in it. I didn't throw large pieces of bread at them as I've seen other people do. None of them asked for cream cheese to go with the bagel.

Aww, those white kids are hungry because they're dumped Easter ducks who can't fend for themselves. What did you feed them?
