Vernon was the best part of the movie along with the janitor and throw in the Simple Minds tune too. Vernon should of went for it and rammed his fist down Bender's throat along with all his GenX disillusioned BS to make him realize life is what it is. Teachers like Mr. Vernon prepare students for the real world while lazy uninspired teachers only promoted procrastination and the "easy way out" mentality that we see so much these days. While we are young we don't know why strict teachers act the way they do, but eventually those who succeed in life will be grateful for their teachers like Mr. Vernon.
