they are originally from the island of banaba in the gilbirt islands of kiribati, but when World War 2 broke out they fled to fiji(island called rabi off the coast of vanua levu). It was either be free in fiji or become slaves or worse killed my the japanese forces.......Thier island has since become an example of over exploitation, since it was discovered that there island was made of guano(which is used as fertilizer) banaba today is no longer the tropical paridise it once was.....

This people live in an island called Rabi, it falls under the province of Cakaudrove and it is located in the south western tip off the island of Vanua Levu, Fiji. Rabi is not a territory of Fiji & this people are Micronesians & also have a representative in 2 governments. Fiji and Kiribati respectively.
