  • Far too much ego & vanity for a yogi and more grace can be found in cirque du soleil

  • very cool feats... next time put it to some less disturbing music. hahaha

  • Perfeito!

  • Call it what you want, this guy is amazing. Whoa, let me rephrase that. This guy IS AMAZING. The type of control he has is is the result of endless practice, Well done!

  • Magnificent!

  • i wish i could do at least one of those things, it looks like he's basically flying.

  • Domínio total do corpo, maravilhoso!

  • @jutajata I appreciate your response and where you're heart is in it.

These demos remind me of the "yoga competitions" that I've heard about, which, when one thinks about it, is really in contrast to the doctrine of the yoga sutras. Yoga is not really an art like a martial art or ballet. It's non competitive by nature. And my sense is that a demonstration of it out of the context of a class may also have the effect of engendering envy. Perhaps it's just me however.

    Thanks again for sharing.

  • @jutajata I read that elsewhere after seeing these videos. Sounds like it has much in common with Ashtanga's 8 limbs concept.

I think it's fascinating and probably a form of yoga that is more comfortable fitting into modern, Western lifestyles than the purest forms of Indian yoga styles like Iyengar, Bhakti and Ashtanga. Hard to find good information about it in English however.

I still don't understand why you'd want to show the beauty of the physical techniques, but I'll keep reading!

  • Hi @imposedminority, i would say it's wonderful to see. Maybe this is one of the reasons for one to show such techniques? hehe

Imagine if we start to omit beautiful things, no one would ever get to know Egypt's pyramids, the Great Walls of China, Leonardo DaVinci or Salvador Dalí's artworks.

Just another point, when you meet Arthur personally, you understands what modesty means. I could not see, by no means, that Arthur does such things to show himself. Just because he likes to do it, for fun.

  • @dmcmanam wouldn't that be because this is basically gymnastics? Yoga is not about a choreographed performance, it's about self realization. Asanas are just one of several parts of yoga, at least from what I've read and heard here in the US. Om shanti.

  • @imposedminority You're absolutely right, ásanas are just 1/8 of the technical part of DeRose Method, we also do mudrá, pújá, mantra, pránáyáma, kriyá, yôganídra and samyama. The coreography is a more aesthetic way to show the beauty of the physical techniques but the whole method is not based just on that.

  • @imposedminority Yoga is what you make of it. While it's true that it's origin is very different, today, yoga is practiced for many different reasons. There is no right or wrong in yoga. Your yoga is what you make of it.

  • @dangzh24 ???? What a idiot argument... "There is no right or wrong in yoga"... Of course there is!! And DeRose is the wrong !!

  • @andre1285 The only thing that's wrong is the fact that your breathe smells like my asshole

  • @andre1285 I'm sure you've read plenty of Books about the DeRose method, assuming by your comments. And you are right though. :) This seems to be the wrong yoga for you right now. Maybe when love fills your heart you might re-think that. Don't like it? Read more about it. Try it. You know, just to be sure.

  • @imposedminority :) - Yes. I believe that yoga is a pathway to self realization. DeRose Method has the best Asana performers I've ever seen. The method is great, you shoul see for yourself. And yes yoga is not JUST about choreographed performance, so as this method. :) SwáSthya

  • very impressive, but not sure about the pants, did he forget his gym kit

  • Para que serve essa coreografia? É youga ou balé, ou é tudo junto?

    Um artista habilidoso.

  • Seriously, I have seen nobody in the US doing yoga with that kind of strength. I love the opening stradle planche. The press handstands look great.

  • Hi @pololachilling, you can study in US, France, Germany, Italy, England, Argentina, Chile, Spain or Portugal. Maybe there are more countries.

I cannot comment anything with links, so just try searching for DeRose Method in Google. You will find schools. If you are in US, you can try in Hawaii or in New York.
