Bravo bravo. You seem like a very confident young public speaker. And your thought process is highly sophisticated. How you transition from one topic to another with ease. I give you an A for the assignment. :) I don't care if you scripted it either, it was amazing. I'll be sure to pick up the book after I finish reading The Lord of the Flies.
Burgess didn't mean to suggest that punishment was unfair, but to say that it was unfair that they attempted to take away his free will. The title itself refers to the fact that something organic can't be made to act like a machine.
@aquelescaraaaaaaaaaa american publishers didn't want to include the 21st chapter because they believed it would make the book a "sell-out." burgess disagreed and wanted it to be published, but he didn't argue because so many people told him that he would never even get the book published in the first place due to its controversial nature. basically, the 21st chapter is about alex's redemption and him seeing the evil in what he had done, showing that the human nature is neither 100% good or evil
@XxRipStitchxX the original English version ended with the 21st chapter, it was the American publishers who edited the last chapter out, much to Burgess' dismay. It wasn't until 1897 that the American version was emended, and the final chapter was restored.
Here's the thing sara. I haven't read it yet. But I've heard that in the newer release (the cover you showed at the beginning of the video) has an added chapter that was only in the british version on the peaking of release. I'm younger than you but as you said this book is for mature readers. I'm a pretty mature reader, The Body was pretty intense especially the short story inside the novella. This sounds intense but I'm going for it. Buying it tommorow hopefully
This has been a masterpiece for me since the 70's as a knock on the correctional system. I believe that the book did make it point about "recidivism" and that the process does have flaws and DOES NOT rehab criminals back into society.
i love this book it is my faverite. i am in eight grade (i was heald back not because i am a dumb ass but because i was screwed over but that is beside the point lol) in my opinion it dose not matter if your a kid this book really makes you think about what is right and what isnt right and i think that is some thing that every human being should think about
@SaraKlumHalpertBanks I understand literally everything in that book accept for the one word he uses. "Plott" does it mean his body? I dont know how but that was the thing I thought it probably meant. Anyway please respond I would like to know :) good vid

I go to Booker Hign and i'm in grade nine, and while I agree that the subject material is very mature I don't think high schoolers shouldn't read it.
