  • I hate how some people are just dismissing the ability and rareness here. The YEARS of passion and practice really shine through. If you don't believe that then your ignorance is baffling.

  • nice

  • Headstock?

  • ezdrummer!

  • sounds like a guitar lesson almost fall asleep....

  • @cagapaisso

Clearly you've slept through guitar lessons and have no talent, otherwise you'd be able to appreciate this.

  • amazing but where is the shred?

  • fantastic, the timing is very interesting and fresh... and an obvious petrucci influence here.

  • i like the old gm steinbergers that vito bratta used

  • That guitar is beautiful

  • i hear this and it sounds like a satriani, like vai, like zappa, like petrucci, etc etc,

they all play the same shit but with different patterns and scales etc but the outcome the melody is the same thing,

But dude malmsteen, gilbert, ,meola etc.. no body sounds like them neither do like others

    so take it easy

  • This just never gets old. Very damn good phrasing!

  • Ok so this is so good throughout and I was blown away with the phrasing and fluidity but that tapping shit at like 1:10 was awesome!

  • awesome beheaded guitar is awesome

  • great

  • Makes me want to pick up my guitar and quit it forever, all at the same time...

  • So elegant.

  • I HATE HEADLESS GUITARS!!!!

  • @maoz115 So don't watch. No one here is interested in that if you like them or not...

  • Great style!!

  • nice dude!

    weird neck xD

  • sorry if it's been asked already but can you give a brief rundown of your gear. Love your tone and excellent playing,

  • his tone is absolutely wonderful

  • Sounds like Guthrie Govan and Alex Hutchings at one time ---> AWESOME !!

  • @Willfrusciante77 Exactly what I was thinking! More Alex Hutchings approach with tone, but Guthrie with playing. Beautiful thing.

  • What guitar is he using in this?

  • @slash181 Or should i say you as i just noticed this is your channel! haha

  • @slash181 Steinberger ZT-3

  • my god that was tasty, well done sir

  • wonderfully done id say.

  • leave the guy alone you idiots, this is what i call having fun and cool fricking guitar shred to i dont know what to say.

the guy is enjoying the playing let it be ,and anyone can play like him put a video let us see ur 2 notes per hour.hahhahahahha.

  • Gotta agree, this is definitely an awesome departure from the emotionless shredding I'm always seeing featured on Truth In Shredding. Truly excellent playing!

  • Love that guitar.

  • andy mckee brought me here

  • This is called having "guitar swag" lol

  • Boring and generic.

  • @AnarchisticLeper Agreed. And I just can't take him serious with that guitar, the tone that every YouTube guitar soloist has... and the feathered hair.

  • what guitar is this?

  • @tsaggarucci steinberger zt3 :)

  • @reshad1 thnx man

  • sweeeeet

  • TONE!!! Just beautiful TONE!

  • Sounds a lot like Vai...

  • That was .... awesome! I came across this by chance, and usually dread a title like "shred this III", fearing hideous noodling at 100mph, but this was pure class. fantastic note choices, great phrasing and beautiful runs, all played with effortless fluidity. top marks on all counts! [hits favourite button]

  • all worked out, no improve at all

  • ugly guitar but awesome player

  • @D0nRidah The guitar seems to show that hes all business; Great guitar despite looks though. Once you play one you will get it, trust me.

  • out of scale licks .? nice thats what i do this is so nice

  • I just came. I really envy the pure technique and the clarity of this guys playing.

  • i would like to know how this video was recorded and how the sound was recorded too. I would do some takes of my music but i don't know how to. Wich cam are you using? And what about the backing track and the guitar? Thank you and good job!! :)

  • @Bebop646 Ok. Dont ever use a webcam mike. Use a seperate computer or Camcorder for the video.

Input the end guitar-signal into the soundcard or audio-in of the video machine of choice..

If you want backing as well then a 4 into 2 mixer will do and you can monitor from the tower or laptop or camcorder using headphones. Or the mixer's headphone out.

I like to sit in front of monitors - and I like 'em loud. Any sustain or feedback is then modulated by everything else -gives a "live" feel

  • @petecockcroft thank you :) i'll get my gears ready. :))) thanks again! :)

  • i wish it would've lasted a little bit longer..... D:

  • When did Eric Johnson get a twin? :o

  • Awesome, tasteful, controlled. Man I sure hope there were no negative comments on this performance.

  • I just subscribed to your great channel. Looking forward to more amazing guitar artistry.

  • what a rare scale but beautiful...

    damn good

  • holy shit!!!

  • GREAT!!!!

  • too classy.. have seen a couple of his vids on youtube. in this clip i kinda hear some shades of vinnie moore. or is it just me?

  • @okthanxbye I'd say more Tony Macalpine or Alan Holdsworth :P

  • great technique, wonderful tone.

  • frank gambali???

  • Hey dude. For 50 bucks I'll give you yer headstock back.

  • Just added you to my Favorites. That performance was one of the finest examples of guitar mastery I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing.

  • fuking AD here beside sounding while i watch the video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Intense

  • amazing !!

  • Although he's very good, it's much easier to play fast over a slow song than fast over a fast song. Hell, it's more difficult to play SLOW over a fast song. Next time someone uses the word shred, let's see it over some shred music, like metal, for example.

  • @theScytheofGod its the same.. the only difference is the background music.. if you cant.. start to practice with a metronome lol XD

  • @guitarramaniacx Not the same at all, let him play over some really fast metal and you'll see what I mean.

  • @theScytheofGod It's really not the shred aspect we're looking at here. His creativity and unusual out-of-scale licks combine to make a great composition, and he shreds just fine over a slow tempo, but it's more about the uniqueness more than the shred. As for shredding over a fast backing track, have you heard of 1/2 speed or up-to-tempo shredding? If you made this track twice as fast, it'd be the same shredding so I don't understand what you're getting at.

  • @hensleyohensley If you made the track twice as fast the shredding wouldn't match with the now halved changes. :P Only messing around. Good point.

  • lot of unusual and interesting things going on here, I'll be remembering this guy's name for the future..

  • Awesome...very nice balanced use of almost all electric techniques...good music and good guitarisms

  • Somebody cut the tuners off your guitar, man!!!!!!!

  • @since1876 Haha, the tuners are actually on the opposite side of where they usually are :p (By that I mean they're on the body of the guitar.)

  • @Quartrez I know where the tuners are, I've been playing guitar for about 11 years in a serious manner and goofing around basically since I could walk... so I do know just a little about guitars.. I was just being silly. :)

  • TASTEFUL. AS. FUCK.

  • @TheMadRabbi666 well said my friend :P

  • Its like a beautiful woman that can sing but she's missing a hand.

    Where'd the head go!!!!

  • @CameronWasmund The head wasn't there to begin with. It's built like that :p And as for the tuners are actually on the opposite side of where they usually are :p (By that I mean they're on the body of the guitar.)

  • nice beheaded guitar!!where is the head?;)

  • Damn that was so tasty

  • What I like the most about your stuff is that it's not emotionless chromatic, it's very impressive stuff and it stays melodic.

    Great stuff.

  • @Quartrez How is chromatic emotionless?

  • Comment removed

  • @Quartrez (the video is an example of chromatic that's emotionless :p)

  • That was one of the most soulful and original guitar solos I've heard in a long time. Amazing technique too.

  • Nice axe, Faramir!

  • This was blissful to listen to :)

    YAY! :)

  • I think I really should begin with some jazz..

  • @Grecian92 im free to say whatever I want, if u can't deal with it: fuck off. I'll say again: guitar solos are empty and boring! oh and learn YOUR english before saying anything....

  • using chords while shredding, damn

  • pode crer muito bom!rsrsrsrrrs

  • 80' lookin' guitar, ike it.

  • I like the bit where he plays.

  • I used to play like that .. then I took an arrow in the knee

  • congratulations on being able to *shred* tastefully, its something very few can do

  • wow great Interesting mix of style

  • Awesome! Phrasing reminds me a lot of Satriani for some reason. But that's a really good thing cause I loveeeeee Satriani ;)

  • o__O

  • a non tuning guitar:P:P

  • @PloXskate oh it tunes, cmon use some logic here, it just doesnt have the tuners at the head like a conventional guitar, it's a modified 'floyd rose' type systems with even more tuning capability, the fine-tuners at the far end of the bridge

  • @aaaaasssss22 mmm yea..realy i see this thing second time...the first was outside on man was holdin only the fletboard:Pnot even the body of the guitar:Pthis must be expencive right?

  • @aaaaasssss22 Probably cost a pretty penny :)

  • tasfa10 it's only my opinion, it isnt important or relevant, but it's mine. and again, to me music transcends guitar solos and virtuosity... music is about the whole not the particular, and please, the drum machine? terrible. I believe real guitar players hate all this. It's about music, not who plays better or faster or whatever fits in your higher ego.

  • @headundead this is a contest with a backing track...

music is a form of personal expression(which EGO is a part of) not a whole or part thing nonsense and people express themselves in different ways i wish it was done with a band but again this is just a contest with a track.

it differs to people..much like you can't find this musical i find it very musical and expressive and again while it is your opinion people WILL differ and disagree put that in your mind.

  • Awesome! really apreciate this kind of music. i've been into metal for a LOOONG time and i started getting interested in jazz and fusion recently! this is pretty near what im searching for. i'd say this is a mix of and timmons with guthrie govan and i love them! congratulations!

  • what amp are you useing!?

  • I just loved a lot the intro.

  • hi there bryan, i thing u play nicely but don't you think this kind of music lacks music itself? not just in your videos, but all shredding videos are about technique... are u listening to the drum sound? my god, people just dont care for music this days... listening only to guitar solos is really boring.

  • @headundead seriously wtf? this is pretty musical dude, not nonesense light speed shred with no melodic purpose. think you're confused about something..

  • @headundead You're opinion is stupid now shut up.

  • @headundead Dude it was a contest in which the backing track was supplied. So get over the drum sound. Even at that different people have different taste in what they like for sounds. As far as the playing goes. That was super musical and tasteful. I'm with you about just shredding for the sake of shredding but there is a lot of guys out there who can shred and be tasteful. If you don't like listening to guitar solos only then don't get on youtube and listen to guitar solos. Pretty simple.

  • your playing seems clean enough , however there seems to be lots of break

up from the pickups on your guitar , in other words the notes you are playing are not holding , and the tone is very buzzy , if i was you i would get another guitar

or change the pickups because that is not doing you any favours .

  • @AshStrat1 Had that same thought as I was listening. Might be an action thing to. Strings seem to choke out. Still killer playing though.

  • YOh Bryan your guitar's head explode!

  • How can you possess a guitar that has no headstock? Its part of what makes a guitar what it is....Its like mutilation, and you should be arrested.

  • Dude makes it look and even sound easy

  • doesnt he look like a 20 year old holtsworth???

  • @P00TANARA There is a similarity, I think it's the mouth's shape and facial/head gesturing while playing.

  • that is the stupidist looking guitar I have ever seen lol

  • @NWONoWorldOrderNWO but one of the best guitarists...

  • Despite weilding the most burnt piece of shit guitar i've ever seen, one of the best players i've ever seen, 100% passion. lovely.

  • Amazing style.

  • i hate headless guitars

  • MOREEEEEE

  • really good and you look likwe billy ray cyrus:)

  • you sir are awesome ! :D

  • wonderful tone and playing... :-)

  • You're a Good Player....

  • oh.....my...GOOOOOOOOD thats AMAZING!

  • yea i remember this was how i first heard u and subd. still awesome \\m//

  • @rafasounds2010 and some guys like to drive a porshe and some a model T. I respect your opinion and understand there's a time and place for eveything, but I realy don't believe there is one right and wrong that covers everybody .I for one think he's got the perfect tone for this peice ,but that doesn't mean I would ever try to replicate it myself, as I just prefer to enjoy things as they are and take what I can from the experiance

  • Comment removed

  • @rafasounds2010 lol may the swartz be with you \m/

  • @VIZZICKS Im sorry man, Im a stupid asshole

  • @rafasounds2010 no worrys bro everyone needs to have there own opinion and a sense of humor so theres nothing to be sorry for

  • bryan aspey, now that's a new guitarists name to remember

  • when i didnt know anything about guitars i thought 'shredding' was "SHREDDING" :D

  • great feel dude :) you actually look like The Last Samurai. thats cool! haha. and you look like Ashton Kutcher as well... just saying. But great feel man!

  • That was good, fun to watch and listen to.Makes it look so easy.

  • Now that was very enjoyable. That's such a nice style of playing and there is a flavour of the notes that sounds new to my ears ... It reminded me a bit if Shaun Baxter (Jazz Metal) but this is a nicer style to enjoy listening to. Very refreshing. I'd buy your album ....if you have one?

  • Am I a perv for watching this dude make sweet love to his guitar?

  • People! Do not confuse a beautiful guitar sound quality with the most guitars. This is a studio recording. And of course all (including the guitar) was brought to perfection)))

  • @mukol11 good call. it's not as easy as it looks...lots of work done here.

  • @jareds1007 What a lot of work is self-evident. Modern studio as "lick" stuff that sometimes you doubt it's a live sound or simply distribute the samples in the studio. Online Time can still be individually each his own party, and then clean up and all you need to fix ... But this is not live sound. And when it is clean, very strongly affected the dynamics!

  • Cool^^

  • there's got to be a glitch somewhere...

  • its amazinggggg !!

  • I HATE 98% of "shred" style guitar playing... I'm a blues player, myself... but the was AMAZING! Great feel, great timing, great execution, awesome guitar playing.

  • has anyone ever told you that you look like Faramir from the lord of the rings?

  • @urdumbfoo has anyone ever told you that you just made youself look like a total nerdo ?

  • @urdumbfoo You can't simply Rock into Mordor.

  • @EvilFollowsUs haha. the left hand is from another person hiding in the shadows. Watch again!

  • @nobnobnobnob HOLY GOD I SHAT BRIX

  • @EvilFollowsUs This is the best comment I have ever read

  • @EvilFollowsUs "One does not simply Rock into Mordor" exactly :p

  • Outstanding!

  • Spectaculare!

How long does you play guitar and how long you practiced to play that song?

    Regards from Berlin/Germany

  • awesome

btw how do you make these backing tracks?

  • Maaaan I need to stop being so lazy and really learn how to shred my guitar like you :) Thumbs up for you!

  • :) That was rly awesome. You have inspired me to fix my guitar and start to play again.

  • Alan Holdsworth much?

  • He looks like Owen Wilson!

  • wow i didnt know boromir could shread like a complete beast
