  • All I can say is that the USA has the fastest JET. Woo

  • @superlongtshirt

    And your a douche?

  • FishDICKS retard try and hear what south park says fool

  • We still threw your tea off a ship.

  • ...There's a dirt road in NEVADA that is that LONG, STRAIGHT, AND SMOOTH!!!

    ...JUST LIKE MY PENIS!!!

  • @cerealKILL3R3 more like your mother's dick

  • this might be a dumb question, but how did they keep the turbines from ingesting too much sand and dust?

  • British engineering.

  • Yeah, not what I was looking for. For that matter, it might as well have been American Engineering, especially from Arizona here, we have lots of sand.

Really though, I would like to know if it was just a negligible risk, or it was something they had to address earnestly?

  • Sand and dust isn't a big deal with turbine engines, in fact it's less of a problem. It's ironic that you're from Arizona, because the USAF calls a test where an engine ingests beyond what can be expected in normal operation (to prove it's trustworthy) the "Arizona road test". A fair amount of dust can actually polish and clean the blades in jet engine. What most people don't know is that jet engines are VERY simple, it's the engineering and building that are incredible.

  • Awesome dude, that is exactly what I wanted to know. I had never heard of the "Arizona Road Test" but that is pretty funny.

I know how turbines work and I thought any form of abrasive material in them would have been immediately detrimental to their operation. What you said makes perfect sense though.

    Thanks for the info!

  • you're a fucking moron. Please explain to us how british engineering keeps too much sand and dust from getting in? Next time, keep your smart ass responses to yourself. Read above if you're willing to learn from an educated American that does EVERYTHING better than you.

  • Sorry dude but we even discoverd yoru entire country, we invented the jet engine, the steam engine the internal combustion engine, and just about everything else. But lets not get in to an arugment here, lets face it, you yanks are decended from us brits, (unless of course you are african or native indian) so there should really be no difference in skills.

  • I'm not saying everything American is better than everything british, I'm simply saying that I'm better than you just to piss you off. also-Americans are descendant of a lot more than the UK bloodlines.

  • don't be biggoted, you Brits didn't discover the Americas, if that was the case, how could there have been humans here when you guys stumbled upon this place?

And I'm Latino dude, yeah, that equals NO BRITISH HERITAGE, very few people are actually decendants from "brits"...

  • TACOS!!!

  • Fish Tacos *licks lips*, yummy...

  • jack ass, the sun has set on the empire and Elton john is the real queen of England. There are quite a few "other " Americans here in fact most of the British descendants are gone. Bye the way, you would be German twice now if not for the colonials.

  • @racezx9 Firstly America didn't bother getting involved in World War I or II until it suited them. They missed 3 out of 4 years in WWI and they missed 2 out of 6 years in WWII. America entered into WWI because if Britain lost to Germany then America's economy would collapse. America entered into WWII mainly because of Pearl Harbour.

By the way you would be ENGLAND twice now if not for France, Spain AND Holland...

America's not great, you don't even have your own language...

  • @sonofhendrix 70% of AMericans come from GERMAN ancestors. The UK is one of the smallest minorities

  • @grumpyzrp is that why they are so arrogant, warlike, bigoted , and love lager beer & wieners , then ?

  • @sonofhendrix Bitch ass wanker, I'm no yank, yeah yall invented all this bullshit, we improved it.

  • Comment removed

  • @BeauStinsonDotCom Wait? Do you mean Lewis and Clark? If so, they were both born in Virginia after we kicked the colonizers asses back to their island (which would make your statement "learn history" absolutely amazing).

  • @0HippyHunter0 What the fuck are you talking about? Go to sleep...

  • @BeauStinsonDotCom hahah! Good work numbnuts. Delete your commment so you don't sound stupid. I'll recap for those who missed it. Beaustinsondotcom said: "Louis and Clark were french" then said "read history before you speak." Amazingly ignorant and arrogant.

  • @0HippyHunter0 I love having Hippies on my diiicckkkkk. :)

  • @sonofhendrix What? You can't possibly claim the jet, steam, or internal combustion engine. Those concepts existed literally thousands of years ago. We didn't "decend" from shit, we left your island, then sent your asses packing because we don't want to be you. We like you just fine, so long as you don't come here and tax us. BTW, thanks for Kippers.

  • the vehicle eventually goes so fast, the dust doesn't have the time to get up into the turbines. (the car passes over the dust and sand before i can get picked up by the intakes.)

  • buurnout lol

  • lets see..........racing...duhh people freekin win millions is they win

  • boring

  • Who cares if it has plane parts anyway its still the fastest "land" vehicle anyway... notice the word land. If it had a space shuttle rocket strapped to it and drove off it would still be a land vehicle nonetheless

  • helicopter parts actually, from a chinnuke helicopter.

  • maybe they have small penises =O

  • it's the thrust breaking the sound barrier. plane, car, boat: whatever can move itself to over the sound barrier will break it.

  • id like to see you send a bugati veyron at 766mph and see how long the doors last, not to mention the sonic shockwaves over and under the car. you would need like 200,000 horse power to even have a hope of reaching that speed. and then you would spin out at 300 and run out of desert

  • i meant if it can withstand going that speed =p

  • engines were from a phantom, due to there durability and ability to handle small debry in going in the engine

  • It's really not as simple as that. It took a hell of a lot of effort to keep it on the ground. At those speeds, the rule book is torn up.

This is something the North American Eagle team need to realise about their back-yard special. You can't just rip the wings off of a starfighter and expect it to behave like a car.

  • Of course, keeping the vehicle from flipping is important, but making a car go that fast is much easier if you dispense with the idea of a car and use the idea of a jet plane which is what they did - it's a bit of a cop out. Consider me a purist, but the real challenge is making a fully functional automobile break the sound barrier. No has done that yet. A Veyron at 250 mph, is more of an achievement than a jet sled at 750. One is an automobile, one is not.

  • It's powered by jet engines, it's not a Bugatti Veyron or a forumla one car, it takes some time to get to speed.. but when it does... it's fast :)

  • The only reason that it's slow pulling away is that when operating on the dry lake bed, engine power has to remain low until the SSC is moving above 100 mph or they risk ingesting sand and pebbles into the engine, which is definitely not good. Once the speed exceeds 100, they pour the coals on. Nonetheless, on the high-speed runs, the SSC would accelerate from 0-600 mph in 16 seconds...yes you read that correctly...and could do so faster if the run began on a clean surface.

  • Its kinda slow.

  • wat if they put one of those in GTA san andreas??

  • wow thtat was intence....TO THE MAX

  • cool! no sound? whatever thats awesome, nice vid! check out my family guy rap video!

  • it'd be nice if yall had sound and we could here that badass purr.
