one fo the best methods of firefightinh i have seen is 2 crews working together, a HPD and a LPD together. HP is much more manouverable in a house fire. but still have the effectivess of the low for when you need lots of water and protection
Its a bit of a no brainer as to why they use HPD hose reels, because they are way faster at getting water on as soon as your appliance arrives, you dont need to ship a stand pipe and feed the truck, just roll some off and go. NZ's fire fighting equipment and tactics are light years ahead of other countries, including the US
i dnt knw y pepole bitch and moan about hpds my fave tool in any structure fire and has the rite amount of water needed easy to use would rather use a hpd maby others like to use a lpd dnt complain about it its just pepoles diff stiels nice vidio mate keep it up
0:22 to 0:24. What the hell is this dude doing squatting directly in front of the doorway to the container. If this is a simulation(wich it is ) he should know the dangers of where he is positioned. Should use the walls for protection.
nah their is obviously no door on the container i.e mo back draught and he is low enough to avoid flash over even if it dose flash on him he shuld be fine cuz of his ppe but i tink they was doin a speacialist experiment of sumint so they doin it different
YEs there fires do go out, but bringing in a smaller more high pressure line dosnt put the fire out any faster , nor does it serve as good protection if something happens. The more water u have faster the more fire u will put out. I just dont believe it puts out enough water.
In France we don't use HP line but only low pressure 45mm hose line. In Belgium some departement still use HP line, but many change to 45mm low pressure.

It all depends on the size & type of fire really, you don't want to damage a house with excess water if you can contain & extinguish with less.

are you a firefighter? if so your training must be pretty crap its actually amazing to see that if used correctly just what it can do
Thrillhouse345 3 years ago
just so others know, when the video starts the flashover already occured. what your seeing is a fully devloped fire.

this was a fire investigation course the aim was to not wash away all the evidence so used minimal water

Look at the trucks- it's a Eurpoean department. They use small-diameter, high-pressure lines. Yet their fires still go out.

New Zealand Fire Service, we use a mix of European, US and Japanese truck chassis as the base for our appliances.

because you minimise water damage and it creates a good high pressure wall of water between you and the fire also you conserve water from your truck
