We had the best time in the studio working on this album. Food was a big part of it. I miss Carols every day. And Grolnick! I can't believe they are gone. As they say, "These were the days!" ..... sklar
Robby-Thanks you so very much for posting this. It gives all of us a glimpse inside what went on inside the studio with JT and crew. The interaction that takes place between the players, how much thought and decision goes into just a few seconds of audio, and why his albums sound so great. Thanks again Robby! (You wouldnt be any relation to Merle Kilgore would you?)
Wow Lee, thanks for commenting on this. This album is made me feel so alive in a time in my life when I was reeeally down. It was around this time that I got to see you guys perform near Lake Tahoe, Ca. You were walking around after sound check with Dan Dugmore, You walked by me and I said "Hi Lee" and as you walked down the hall you yelled back "How YOU DOIN?!!" THAT right there made me feel like I was your best friend! Lee, have a Merry Xmas!
@D1994 Lee, i cannot even begin to say that I can 100 percent relate to you because you worked with them...but i will say that Carlos is one of my biggest influences. In Fact..any time i think of JT, you, or Vince Gill...I automatically think of Carlos. btw...you're one of my absolute favorite bass players. keep on playing and we'll keep on listening!
@D1994 Lee I'm right with you...Because of my dad, I grew up listening to Carlos. Carlos influences my playing and also my buddy Rodney's playing. and Grolnick...great piano player....miss them terribly.
Correction: they're actually working on the song "Sweet Potato Pie" from the album Never Die Young, released in 1988. The song "Copperline" is from New Moon Shine, released in 1991.
I stand corrected. That makes sense actually. This is on the same tape as the Carly shoot (right before it actually) so they must have happened around the same time.
I actually have a little more footage from the same session. I'll probably repost eventually with more...cheers - rk
@RobbyKilgore Robby, thanks so much for posting this! As I told Sklar on an earlier post, Carlos is one of my heroes and a friend of my father's from back in the day with The Bellamy Brothers.
Yes it is. Miss him.

At least they didn't bite each other's heads off on how it should sound.

Everyone's so talented. James is my favorite musical artist of all time. I thank my mum for that, seeing as I'm only 20.

More! I want to hear him take a crack at it.
This is pretty fascinating to see them work.
