It's not necessarily the elite's there that don't let the poor suceed, it's the elites' here. A friend of mine went to cuba with his girlfriend last year. Had wonderful holidays. Didn't go surfing, however he met many of the locals, smoked some great cigars, had an awesome time. I think they even did some scuba diving.

I never said Cuba was a bad place geographically or was full of bad people my point was that no one in their right mind would go to Iran for skiing, its called perspective. It's not necessarily the elite's there that don't let the poor suceed, it's the elites' here. Cuba was a virtual colony of America under the oppressive US-backed Batista regime, so when Castro overthrew him America placed and embargo, so their main source of trade was gone. America would enforce other countries to follow the same policy through sanctions. So it's not Castro's fault their poor.

A friend of mine went to cuba with his girlfriend last year. Had wonderful holidays. Didn't go surfing, however he met many of the locals, smoked some great cigars, had an awesome time. I think they even did some scuba diving.

I just watched Christopher Hitchens at AAI advocating war in Iran ( I usually respect Hitchens but no here). I heard Rollins talk about his Iran experiences in February and it sounded way different. I had to come listen to this again. It's like going from a freezing plunge pool into a warm shower. It's somewhat confusing reading over the old comments, since it seems like some of them were deleted or something. IE, I can't find a single comment from ResistandDefy. As far as musicians making their politics known to the public, I have no problem with that. If I don't agree with their politics I seperate it from their music. I agree with Henry, and I think he's an intelligent man. If he supported hte Republican party and Bush, I'd still listen to his music CDs, but not the others.

You mean Clear Channel? I don't know anything about it "owning" net radio. Companies own their radio broadcasts, & therefore own the rights to distribute their radio broadcasts on the net. No one else. And yes, CC owns a lot of stations. Thank Al Gore for that (Comm Act of 1996). But people tire of corporate radio (again) & CC will start selling it all off, & there'll be happiness again. Never heard about CC owning cinemas. So get rid of that half-assed propaganda. You sound smarter than that.

dude, clear view own a huge percentage of cinemas, in my area all the cinemas were bought by clear view a few years back, and i didnt say cc own net radio, there just going to attempt to make a manolapy outta it, 'The Recording Industry of America (RIAA), the trade group that represents the recording industry's largest record companies, proposed increased rates earlier this year for Internet radio stations. Well, I don't know anything about a co called "Clear View." These corporate owners come and go. Plus there's never been any law stating how many theaters a chain could own. And I think the RIAA didn't realize net radio would end up doing business. It took a while, but now they want their share just like broadcast, doubtful its a higher rate. BTW, net "radio" isn't radio, it's an internet distribution, so broadcast laws don't apply. This is a matter between private companies.

The govt has an agency which coordinates things to keep some sort of order (like the FCC and broadcast frequencies). The govt doesn't have some central server system that is THE net, private co's and people have servers also. This interconnectivity IS THE NET. The govt isn't going to "sell" the net to Rupert Murdoch. Propaganda.
