Little tidbit of info for you: Medical insurance as an employer-provided benefit started during WWII because of the wage controls passed by the Roosevelt administration. They couldn't offer people more money, so they offered perks like medical insurance. It's an optional benefit, not an entitlement. Go to the free clinic or save up. Sorry, can't really help you past that. Nothing I can say is going to penetrate an entitlement mentality.

it's not free. It's subsidized by tax dollars. Just look around the world to see where it ends. In Canada, you still have to pay full price for prescriptions, dental, optical, chiropractic, and for medical devices like insoles. In the UK, you just pay a flat fee for every prescription.

Food and shelter have different levels of cost. I can't go get my appendix removed by a cheaper doctor for 1/10,000th the cost, but I can get a cheap apartment instead of living in a mansion.
