have you seen him on electric? try Determination, one of his earlier songs, you'll see that acoustic/electric makes no difference for Tommy. He is simply created to bring out the best sound in every instrument he touches (acoustic/eleectric guitar, drums..)

Thing about Tommy is he could still be an accomplished guitar player if he just stuck to one style. But the fact he can play just about anything really well and also write amazing songs is just blows the mind. How can someone have so much talent? lol great!

My guitar teacher is the same way. Tommy's amazing, but my teacher could trade licks with him all day, and he can play anything from country chicken pickin to blues and fingerstyle. There's a lotta people that have a lotta talent like that that just didn't get lucky enough to become famous. Tommy's awesome tho, hope to get to see him someday

that's horse shit. Your teacher is by no means as good as Tommy Emmanuel...even Chet Atkins told Tommy he was the greatest fingerpicker alive and gave him a special award to prove it. Any guitarist that knows him realizes that there won't be any other Tommy's because he's just that good...he may be a swell fingerpicker but that's no fair comparison when you're talking about a guitarist like Tommy who has such a complete knowledge of guitar

Maybe you didn't read my whole comment. I said my teach can play everything from fingerpicking to blues slide, and anything in between. He may not be as talented as far as writing his own material like Tommy is, but all I said was he could play with Tommy and hold his own. Don't judge until you've heard him play ; ]

Ok, well film a video of him playing and I'll start to believe you. After having my mind blown multiple times by Tommy Emmanuel, especially during live performances, it'll be a hard task. He could probably play with Emmanuel, I don't doubt that. Emmanuel plays with all sorts of people from little kids to guitar icons. But playing with the same POWER as Emmanuel is a feat unto itself...if you go to a live performance you can actually feel it and by the end you are jawdropped

I love when he's playing and needs to make either a tuning or volume adjustment.... he doesn't even miss a beat. But even cooler is the way he continues to hit the strings regardless if it's the correct tuning or not, AND IT STILL SOUNDS PERFECT! Talk about being keyed-in! WHOA!!!

If you havent seen Tommy live you have a real treat in store...you think the videos are amazing, his live shows are just mind blowing, I saw him last month at the International Guitar Festival on the Wirral in the UK and was entertained like I havbe never been before.
