Being from Texas myself, I sympathize. Texas is a state that really does fund itself. However, the majority of red states (Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, etc.) take in more federal tax payer money than any blue state.

I understand your concern. I think the point that YoungGen is trying to make is that conservatives don't like tax and spend , and yet republican states tend to take in more tax payer money. Many democrats see this as republicans saying "don't tax and spend money, unless it is for our state". Personally, I like this money being put to good use in whatever state needs it. The bill has several different provisions that enter into affect at different times. The bill would require Americans to have insurance from 2013. After that there would be penalties.

The only blue state in the bunch is Maine. Being from Texas myself, I sympathize. Texas is a state that really does fund itself. However, the majority of red states (Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, etc.) take in more federal tax payer money than any blue state.

I understand your concern. I think the point that YoungGen is trying to make is that conservatives don't like tax and spend , and yet republican states tend to take in more tax payer money. Many democrats see this as republicans saying "don't tax and spend money, unless it is for our state". Personally, I like this money being put to good use in whatever state needs it. I've seen how bad, scarce and unreliable government healh care is. Everyone would be much better off having private health care insurance. The problem is that once this public option is put into the system, private insurers won't be able to compete against a massive government-run program and they will eventually be forced out of business. They are trying to fix health care by attempting to take a piece of it out of the hands of people who do not have our best interests in mind.
The tax on medical supplies you are talking about would be paid by manufacturers and allocated by market share. The tax would also only affect about half of medical devices, not on common medical items.
The Republican solutions don't affect the true source of the problem, they only seek to slow down the process.

There will be many requests for verification & clarification with certain parts of the language ---- clarification which may lead to further debate. Yet the Democrats want to vote on it next Friday.

I need to read it still... From what I have seen I do like it... I mean it could always be better but it is not nearly as bad as what some have been expecting. I was happy to see that the raised the bar as far as who will be taxed now it's the folks who make over 500K a YR. That is a lot of money! If I could make that for just one year I believe I could set myself up for life. :) I have to go back to bed. I just got up to let Frank in.. My cat he normally stays in all the time but he escaped.

I have skimmed through it once already but haven't had a chance to read it as there has been so much going on with Halloween and all. I am hoping to have the house to myself ;ater tonight so I can think more clearly and read it in more depth. It is my understanding that a lot of the ideas in this bill came from the republicans. I wish they would point out which ideas came from where because a lot of folks believe the republicans had no part in any of this and that simply isn't true.

Rasmussen is a very accurate and reliable poll. They have a reputation for being very credible and impartial, unlike the ABC poll or New York Times/CBS poll that admits they poll more Democrats by 13%, making those polls total B.S. and completely inaccurate and useless!
