I think everything is good with legato here. I do not see any reason to change your legato. May be a tiny bit of "non legato", but it is inconsiderable and does not influence upon the whole picture. Temp is perfect.
Continue to play it legato, because the melody is in the choral and it would be un-natural to play it non-legato. Besides, non-legato is only an expressive mean which takes into consideration the instrument (it's not an harpsichord's touch), its abilities (the organ-registers differentiate the melody from its accomp.) and the outer environment (a room. No need to consider the echo-difference in a church-hall).
Love your playing! Tempo is perfect for the instrument you're playing, registration is fine, pedal is fabulous, but I agree that you should play the melody a little more "non legato" - especially on the upbeats. Keep it up, young man!
I love this piece, I played it for my first college musical recital, it brings back so many memories. Keep up the good work, I see a future maestro in the making.
I really enjoyed it. But I hope you will not be angry if I tip you some advice:
Your pedal is great, so ar your trillers, but a little more NON LEGATO in both hand. But it is very nice to listen, and the choice of stops is very appropriate! Good work!
Very much enjoyed your mature playing! Especially your pedal-work shows you to be quite advanced. Look forward to hear more postings from you. Perhaps we can see/hear you play on a pipe organ one day.
Do you think you could play BWV 614 for me? There seems to be only one person with a video of that on youtube. You play so well, I'd love to see your version.
Those of you wanting to hear a unique "perspective" on this piece may want to try "The Sea Named Solaris" by Isao Tomita (which is also available on the soundtrack to the PBS series "Cosmos."
Thanks to Andrei Tarkovsky and his miraculous film, Solaris, this gem has received the attention that it deserves. And you play it so wonderfully. Thank you Bach, thank you Tarkovsky, and thank YOU.
A few technical slips (eg. trills not quite perfected, feet too far forward on 'black' pedal notes, and hands more in piano position than organ position) but overall a good performance, particularly considering the age of the organist! Here's wishing you every success in organ playing!
Well Done! I only wish I would have started organ when I was this young... of course it would have helped to have a digital organ... Keep it up and thank so much for sharing with us.
I think the trill is just at the right speed; anything slower would seem a little laboured I think. Some good phrasing between sections of the piece, too. Excellent.
This is my most loved choral prelude next to "Erbarm Dich, Mein O herr Gott" I think you did an out standing job. By the way I see professional organists looking at thier feet. Its ok...its not the end of the world to peak! lol
its ur best vid on utube i think. lol but y only 2 stars ppl? i guess they dnt like organs lol. also y u lukin at ur feet? didnt u say organists dnt luk at their feet?lol
I quite enjoyed your performance. Registration effective and some well placed starts to the phrases. I personally prefer a slower approach to the trill but overall, quite stylish.
wow! perfect! There are no words to describe ! Thanks for 2:22 min of perfection in music !

WWooow congratulations,,,,the tempo is perfect, not to slow and not to fast. It's a great Bach's compositions, so "hemels" we should say it in dutch.

What's all this about legato?
Bach wrote the left hand with sixteenth notes grouped in 4s with legato marks.
The only important thing about the right hand is that it announces the melody and that ornaments don't get in the way (which is fine hee).
I agree about the pedal, but for absolute perfection, listen to Ton Koopman 1989.

Great and exactly the right tempo for this composition cause some perform it far too slowly (around 4min) what makes it... a kind of stooodgy... :-
