My buddy an I are looking at getting one to travel around in with our sportbikes. thinking turbo upgrade, inter cooler NOS an propane injection. an lower it. add bunk beds an small fridge an what nots.
If you take all the seats out, can you drive a school bus with just a regular driver's license? I've always wanted a school bus but don't have a CDL yet.
Each state may have different laws, but in CA the vehicle needs to be classified an RV to drive with a standard license. I took the seats out before driving home from Texas and had a dealer supplied plate and insurance to be legal as possible at that time.
Contact 101 BUS SALES near San Antonio TX for A good selection and accomodation. The owner picked me up at the Airport and gave me a place to sleep the first night, al-around awesome service.
do they have any vintige bus' there (50's, 60's, maybee 70's)? If i were to buy a bus, i want something with some style, not such a brick going down the road. Ya know?
True, true. And yes, i asked my Dad today (who is a truck driver) he said i have to atend a class, and get certified for air brakes. I'm still going to look into it though.
What state do you live in? I gues it depends on the state you live in as to whether you need a special license. Usually you don't need a special license if you're driving a motorhome. check it out for yourself.
my bus driver has one of those brand new thomas saf T liner C2 school bus we have had a few technical diifficulties out of it but other than that i think its a pretty good bus
I have already done enough to qualify as a motorhome and still have much more planned. check out the second video to see what was done as of 3 months ago. I may do an update video soon.
Air brakes require letting air pressure build up prior to driving and incorporate a parking brake that you can see me disengage in this video. Aside from more thought into their use and maintainence, they resist heat build-up better and give you an on-board air compressor system. VM
Hey my freind your Bought a good Machine there we have a 1993 International i love Driveing that over the 1995 Thomas we also have at our church there both hydrolic Braks thoes How do u work the air brakes is it any diffrent ?
Anyone with the gumption to convert a school bus is alright with me and I hope my KOOl BUS inspires others, but be sure to incorporate your own style also, that's half the fun:) VM
She has a DT408. I waited over twenty years to get one of these, I recommend "Buses 101" near San Antonio TX, If your willing to drive one home. Large inventory, price range and great to deal with. VM

They do once and a while have an older one, you would have to inquire.
vintagemachines 4 years ago
I don't know, but i think in Oregon. I have to have a special license to drive one. On account of the air brakes.
salemcripple 4 years ago
If so, many buses are equiped with standard hydraulic brakes.
