The Yankees arrived at the winter meetings thinking A.J. Burnett would sign with the Braves, but now believe they have a realistic chance of signing him, according to the Star-Ledger.

It's be nice if just one of these SP dominoes would tumble down soon. The Yanks are believed to be willing to go to four years and $64 million for Burnett. The Braves are at $60 million for four years with a vesting option for a fifth. It's unclear if the Red Sox have made an offer.

If the Jays give this guy a huge extension, its a terrible decision. If they give him an extension, they would also have to give Doc an extension (he should command at least $20 mil per season). Burnett would eventually lose focus and his contract would be a burden on the team. I would prefer letting him go and pick up two draft picks.

Burnett is so filthy tho, he became a better pitcher because of Halladay and your right if AJ was as consistent as Doc he would have a few cy youngs.. Burnett has nastier stuff than Halladay but Halladay is no doubt the better pitcher
