This Psycho(1960) - a classic horror film from the master Alfred Hitchcock (YAY!)
This is a shitty shitty shitty SHITTY fuckin' remake!
"This is the mind of Norman Bates?" WTH?! Even Hitchcock couldn't tell us preciselly what was in this poor tormented mind and this piece of crap thinks it has the answers?!
The original movie holds up on its own! It doesn't need neither a sequel or a remake.
First this trailer is very confusing, this is the second part of a lot of movies and music from an audio thriller. Third Remakes suck. The movie Psycho should not be continued ever!.
shitty trailer. one of the greatest things about the original is they never told anyone that something is wrong with norman and hyped up the ending without spoilers.
TRIVIA: The rights of Hitchcock's films were acquired in 1997 or 1998 by Universal and they began remaking the films in order to pay tribute to the late Alfred Hitchcock on his Centennial Birthday in 1999. The Psycho 1998 remake was just to pay homage to the original film.
I didn't even know there was a remake until we had to watch (the original) for my film class and one of my classmates said, "It's the one with Vince Vaughn, right?"
Psycho 1960 will ALWAYS remain the BEST!!!!! It's so sad to see these new age writers and directors trying to do the exact same thing that Hitchcock and Perkins did! Respect and R.I.P. Alfred and Tony!!! We love you!!!! <3
Vince Vaughn is no Anthony Perkins, but he was definitely a good choice. He had the potential, but in the end, the execution killed any chance of his performance holding a candle to Perkins.
@veruka789 Notice how quick clips were in this trailer, maybe this is from one of his music videos or just him posing for a picture and the director wanted to use the picture
This movie failed HARD because of this trailer. Who's the genius who decided to tell the world that something is wrong with Norman Bates? Way to go idiots.
@BYOSProductions I can see a better marketing technique: Have a shot of Norman Bates' mother looking away, holding a knife in her hand with a caption that reads, "We all go a little mad sometimes." The overall idea being that they would have wanted to keep the focus on his mother. I think that whoever did the marketing just assumed that everybody had seen the original.
@DuracellEnergizer i understand that completely but they actually did this really good, everything is exactly the same, same breaths to same movements, its just in better quality .
@Scoonertuna Um, no. Remakes more-or-less follow the same plots of the films they're based on, while reimaginings take only a few elements from the original films and then go off in entirely different directions plotwise.
@DuracellEnergizer Not true. A film can start out as a remake, but eventually become a Re-imagining. If one alteration is made to the subject matter than the film becomes a re-imagining. Look at Little Shop Of Horrors for example. For a while the original ending was that Seymour was going to jump inside Audrey 2 to save the original Audrey and end up dying. However, later, the ending was changed to Seymour killing the plant. It was at that moment the story became a re-imagining.
I believe that the other actors in this version played their parts very well. They took it very seriously, and Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates pleased me. The remake was very nice and I loved it. It paid homage to the original film.
Oh Yeah I forgot one thing. Original all the way. Anthony Perkins is much better.
Worst remake ever, although th Friday the 13th remake comes pretty damn close. This whole movie was scene by scene and word for word EXACTLY the same as the original, except it has color and vince vaughn as the killer (which in itself was a stupid casting decision). The only difference throughout this whole movie is that you get to listen to vince vaughn jacking off

@DuracellEnergizer Isn't the whole point of a remake remaking the movie, word-for-word, scene-from-scene, etc. Anything else is just a re-imagining.

Doesn't compare to the original. I say they should have picked a different actor to portray Norman Bates.
joeperryhotashell 9 months ago 3
@joeperryhotashell Edward Norton would have made a SUPERB Norman Bates. He specializes in characters with split personalities.
