Many soldiers visited the castle when stationed in Germany. I myself was one. The castle was on post cards in such a fashion that you couldn't resist but to visit the place. It was 1999 when I visited. By the way, what is this song? It is like heavy metal?

I remember visiting this place when I was a kid. We were stationed in Germany at the time; the berlin wall also came down during that time. The castle is magnifacint and brings back great memories. When I think of princes and princessis I think of this castle.

I was there with the army in the mid 70"s with my wife at that time and we had heard about this place and what they did there a few times a year. It would start about 9pm and they would light red flares faceing the rhine and it would last about an hour and a hugh fireworks show afterward. that was a while back for me and it may have been some event. thanks for the comment.

burning of the castle? never saw that i do remember at night the castle lights illuminate to simulate burning of castles like hiedelburg castle that was rebuilt after the french burned it to the ground during the dutch-franco war

didn't think anybody responded to this posts been to all the ludwig castles even the castle across from this castle i can't remember name of it perhaps you know of it. We pulled up in a Ford Granada got all kinds of stares from the onlookers lol we where their to see a castle like many that day and everyone crowded us and the car, famous for a day anyway. I not sure who done this video but its nicely done I like what ludwig done and the mystery clouded around his death.

Very well done. I never see much of this castle in videos. Do the powers that be there prevent filming in certain parts of the castle or is there limited access to the rooms?

They prevent people to film inside the castle. Access to the rooms only with a guide. (thousands visitors a day in a season).
