  • Love this stuff! Better than 90% of all music released today!

  • kinda interesting to know that this came out the same year SMB3 did

  • Isnt the part at 2:37 - 2:40 used in the legend of zelda - links awakening?

  • Im listening to this while playin league of legends :) its sooooo good!

  • @MooseMastrZ gotta do that

  • two people don't like Trevor Belmont

  • @TearsOfIce666

two people got ass whipped by Trevor Belmont short after

    .

  • Beginning, yeah!

  • I disagree with the notion that the NES version is worse. Yes, it is "technically" inferior, because its missing the sound chip, but that doesn't mean its better. The famicom version sounds too busy. Sometimes, less is more.

  • the music in the japanese is far superior than the american one

  • garudoh son you are awesome. been listening to all my fav games for the past two hours. good stuff. your a great person . hope good things happen your way mate :) be good :)

  • 4:49 AWESOME

  • Man how I loved this game back in the day...

  • The giant freaking bat can be defeated just by using HOLY WATER!? DAMN! I thought the cross could kill it faster due to the boomerang effect it has. :|

  • I wasted so many hours of my life on this damn game.... Good memories? Yeah, I guess so.

  • I could use some Taco Belmont.

  • Loved the game but could never have progressed without videogamestrategyguides (.) net

  • @nutritiousacne99 back then, there was no internet!

  • Best NES soundtrack for me. That is, if you're playing the Famicom version. Too good. I prefer it to the American NES version.

  • I love the NES version soooooo much more!

  • the beginning was the best part!

  • Some prefer the NES version of the soundtrack, due to its being less flamboyant.

  • Hey does anyone have a fusion powered Delorean time machine that I can use so I can go back to 1985 and relive the next 10 years of my life in what was arguably the greatest period in video game history???

  • the first time i heard this i was like:HOLY FUCK!! this music is even better than the original castlevania 1 music.

the first one is really good but this one beats it.

  • 6:44--Sampled by Oh No for "The Ride"

  • 0:44 - pure awesomness!

  • love Frankie's Tower. Epic!

  • say...couldn't you team up with some other characters on this game? like the little dwarf guy who could climb walls....wasn't he on this one??

  • Mad Forest is my favorite track.

  • 2:55 THE GOD DAMN SWAMP!!!!

  • Believe it or not, the Famicom version sounds even better!

  • I read the Famicom catridge had some kind of add-on chip that couldn't be implemented for the NES because of hardware limitations.

  • @gullywoots: That's right; the Famicom version utilized the Konami VRC6 sound chip, which expanded the number of channels from 4 (2 square-wave, 1 triangle-wave, and 1 noise) to 7 (4 square-wave, 1 sawtooth, 1 triangle-wave, and 1 noise).

  • because famicom version uses VRC6 chip for this game

  • just curious, what does the block with the number "II" do?

  • Doubles your special weapon. Example, if you have the Axe, you can now throw 2 axes at a time, instead of 1. The III allows for 3 at a time.

  • I always figured it was like helping you level up if it's anything like Bloodline and has a RP like platform.

  • This game is the perfect example of classic Castlevania awesomeness. God the music's too awesome.

  • it's also my favorite out of the first and third . i feel like i wanna play it again even though i finished it last month or so lol

  • That is how I felt about Zelda II.

Even though it was different from the other games, it was actually a pretty awesome game and idea.

  • I don't hate CV2 worth one bit. My ONLY gripe about CV2 is the translation from the Japanese version.

    -kidThunder

  • I don't think that's weird at all. CV2 is an excellent game and a unique entry into the series.

People don't realize how CV2's innovative concepts paved the way for SotN.

  • Mine too. Too bad they never...

  • I like the second song very much at 1:10

  • What is deadlyer, Castlevania Birds or Ninja Gaiden Birds?

  • Wait, here's a better question: what is worst, being Simon Belmont or being Ryu Hayabusa?

  • I suppose Ryu Hayabusa has to always keep running very fast and keep jumping from wall to wall, however, Velmont has to fight the same villian so many times.

  • @Forzatoadv

So my choice is die by annoying birds, or die by annoying birds? Crap.....

  • You could also try to kneel for 3 years and half in a random spot waiting for a tornado to take you to the final boss with a random object equipped if you choose Simon

  • overall gaiden is tougher, i've never beaten either in NES trilogies though

  • Personally, I find 3 to have the best gameplay but 1 and 2 to have better music.

  • I agree, III is my favorite on the NES, but II just had a supreme soundtrack. Stage 1 on this soundtrack is killer, though.

  • the music for this game is the best on the NES.

  • +1

    And Agreed.

  • @willd3rbeast

It is awesome indeed, but don't forget Megaman II music :D

  • Isn't it amazing that this music and those graphics were generated by the 8 bit NES? The MM5 chip allowed for 4x the pixel resolution of previous nintendo games along with superb scrolling ability. By far the best Castlevania game ever released for the NES.

  • I would seriously buy a Famicom just to hear this games music in its original form... If only I was made of money. No, wait, if I was made of money I probably wouldn't want to be giving myself away to people. :S

  • You could just download the soundtrack for the famicom version, or check out #389 in the series for a 10-minute compilation.

  • But... It just wouldn't be the same. D:

  • a nice way might be to get an emulater, a rom, and look up on the net for some of those nifty NES controllers with USB moded on them....

  • That's even further from the real thing. It's like the difference between CDs and vinyl, nothing sounds better than a good 8-bit tune filtered through an RF Switch. :)

  • Uhh there's no difference other than your own opinion. The pc emulators can reproduce the game exactly.

  • I think more complex doesn't necessarily means better. I prefer the american version.

  • Well said, and agreed!

  • Is it the same guy doing speed runs of all the games in this music of video games series? Because if so he is very good!

  • I wish man. I'd be king super-gamer of the universe, sans the power glove.

I find footage in all kinds of places, usually speed runs to keep things interesting to watch.

  • the clips are speedruns but by real people and not 'tool' generated speed runs that are flawless and basicly impossible.

  • 4:45 rules!! Nice groove to it.

  • 6:45-Sampled by Oh No for "The Ride" off his album "The Disrupt"...may be wrong though :)

  • whats that track at 4:45?

  • DEMON SEED!!! Best damn track in all Castlevania tunes combined, imho... and that's saying a lot, because they are all good!

  • I concur...the bass riff is fucking cool as hell :)

  • I might get this game on the VC just for the music!

  • I wish I could download this on my cellphone.

  • I actually have that, you can use foobar 2000 to achieve that...

  • is the first song of draculas curse found in other games??

  • whats the name of the first song??

  • It's called Beginning, or The Beginning

  • i believe it has another name as well

  • I used to be pretty big into home theaters and subwoofers when I was younger and I would play this game through the home theater. Man the songs Clockwork, Nightmare and the pirate ship song(cant remember the name) would shake the whole house! They are nothing but bass! My mom would get pissed lol!

  • Pirate Ship = Anxiety

  • whoa watching this induced me into a hypnotic state

  • You can hear the percussion a little better in this version.

  • First appearance of the "Clockworks" theme, and CV3's fate was sealed as one of the greatest NES soundtracks.

  • i wish i had an NES and this game...

  • i have hon, got the game at a carboot fair. should give it a try. it only cost me £2

  • LUCKY!! The British version is quite expensive =S

  • I always thought the song at 4:45 (can't remember the name right now) was damn sexy. Great soundtrack in general.

  • Also the one at 6:27 (I believe it's the opening song?) is a beautifully composed song. It always gets me everytime I hear it. I wish they'd redo it. Thank goodness for OCremixes...

  • yeah that's definitely the opening song.

  • CV3 lists Hidenori Maezawa, Jun Funahashi & Yukie Morimoto as composers.

  • man from the very beginning to 0:14 it sounds like michael jackson's 'thriller' intro

  • I kind-of agree

  • Best Castlevania soundtrack of the NES versions, and 2nd only to Symphony.

  • Even without the VRC6 chip, Castlevania 3's soundtrack still is one of the best in the NES library. Only a few companies could consistently produce such quality music compared to Konami, most notably Sunsoft and Capcom

  • But if they did use that drum channel like they did in the Japanese version, this would be my favorite NES soundtrack ever. Simon's Quest had a better drum sound in my opinion.

  • Actually they did use the DPCM in the US/EURO version but with a lower quality sample. I wonder why they couldn't put the same sample. Maybe the VRC6 provided some extra processing power which allowed it to manage the whole sound part of the game by itself...

  • the player says the high quality version is no longer available.

  • YouTube is dumb like that sometimes. Whenever this happened to me, I checked a few hours later and it magically worked. Hopefully it's not a permanent thing.

  • Yeah, it works fine now. Thanks for the prompt response. :)

  • I love this game. It's in my top 5 best castlevania games.

  • What, no Evergreen! All the music in this game is wonderful, Mad Forest & the swamp level being some of my favorites.

  • No! I have to find that

  • Don't waste your time, the NES version is MUCH better.

  • The best NES CastleVania soundtrack

  • Did you listen to the japanese version soundtrack? It had a soundchip with even better music.
