Ben was a product of his time. Doesn't mean he was good or bad. He was just no better and no worse than others. Racism is always wrong. People like Brown and Davis that were able to excell in such an environment are bigger than life. True heros.
Dennis Quaid is another cracker thats making excuses for that racist head coach. Im glad the movie the Express showed that white supremacist coaches racist views.
i do not like racist i belive that mlk was a good person but malcom x was a criminal and a bad person i understand that us white people shouldnt have arrested black people for being black bad idea but malcomx thought he could do whatever just because he was black he was a criminal and a bad person
I know this seems kind of far fetched but I think Ernie Davis, because he died so young, it seems like he was put here to win that Heisman Trophy. It's like he was sent here to do something and he died just like that. I know this seems like I'm reading into it a bit much but that's what it seems like.
i get what your saying, kinda something along the lines of...were all here for a reason? You could also probably argue he was sent here to fight during the segregation battle but in a different way. Whether or not thats the case, I have a much deeper respect for him and Syracuse after watching that movie.
The only reason why you say No to Malcolm X is because he was a militant but actually after his pilgrimage to Mecca, he actually because more open to other races and different people of color. MLK and Malcolm X both wanted the same thing for African Americans, they just have different methods of going about it.
Im glad that you mentioned that about Malcom X (honeegirl). Most people only see him as a black man who hated the white devil, but he had a change of heart after his visit to Mecca. He thenrealized that there were muslims of every color, and that what he was taught by the so called profit Elijah Muhammed was false. Kind of like what the Klan and other White Supremist Groups teach people.
@bigrat33 Yes I agree, sometimes it takes a change bigger than yourself to make you come to the realization of how you should live your life. You can't live your life hating people because if you do then you will be alone.
Rednecks were stupid back then thats why blacks live larger than them these days rip=ernie davis

What does "a man of his times mean"??? So, slavery was ok, because slave owners were "men of their times"??? f that. Wrong is Wrong. Right is Right.

I grew up in Elmira NY and Ernie Davis is a legend there. Ernie played football during a time of racism in America and the movie reflected that.
