  • Why would u put all that time into redoing a Chrysler big block n not get rid of the thermoquad

  • @mestupkid689

Because the Thermoquad can be a good carb. on this engine. When you get it tuned right, they are a very good carb. Plus, getting this one rebuilt was cheaper than buying a new Holley to fit.

We haven't had any problems with the TQ carb, and the car takes off like a Scalded Ape!

  • yay mopar orange not chevy redish orange!

  • @SomecoolName1

Yeah, we just Love Race Hemi Orange!

I even use it on some of my small engines.

  • 318.............i really dont know my chrysler power plants :p

but 20 mpg on the highwqay sounds about right for an 8 :D

  • @NASTYTHEBOY

Yeah, the funny thing was that I got better milage after I put on a 4 barrel carb, and dual exhaust, as well as a higher lift 340 cam, plus gaining about 50 horsepower.

Of course the milage went down when I go into the gas! :)

The car is more set up for the 1/4 mile now, so mileage isn't as big of factor. I had to drive 2000 miles to university, so milage and reliability was important.

  • @ChargerMiles007 yah power upgrades save gas, as long as you stay of the throttle :] its just so hard to behave sometimes ;)

  • @NASTYTHEBOY

Yeah, the extra power, Tempts you to use it! :)

    I can't always avoid the Temptation!!!! :)

  • That alternator looks miniaturized--I'm used to the much more pancake like chrysler style alternator.

  • @BlakeMason2

It is a Denso alternator very similar to one from a Toyota Corolla.

I can't recall why he went with this one, but it is a kit , and I think it puts out 100 amps. We used to use the Chrysler type on the 318

  • All is beautiful except the Horrid Fram filter.

My dad found that a Motorcraft FL-1A fit on his 318.

Either way you could get a Napa gold filter which would protect your engine much better!

Look around for videos of Fram filters cut open. They're terrible!

    I made one myself.

  • @KrankieV2

So you aren't a BIG Fram Fan!

I don't know if he is going to use that filter, or if it is there only while the engine is being lowered into the Charger.

  • @ChargerMiles007 lol no sir! I've seen the insides of several Fram filters and they SUCK!

  • @KrankieV2 that is THE TRUTH! my cousin always says that the oem stuff is best, and i seen it, ITS TURE! :O

  • @NASTYTHEBOY yup except for honda because fram makes honda filters lol

  • haha, its gunna be a slutty bitch with stds at the gas pump.... FELL THAT RASH BURN! xD

  • @NASTYTHEBOY

Yeah, It will pass everything BUT the Gas Pump!!! lol :)

What can I say, play toys don't come Cheap!

I couldn't afford to feed a 440 back when I had a Charger as a daily driver, thats why I built up a mean 318 :) 20 miles to the US gallon cruising at 70 or so on the highway.

  • I wanna hear that beast bark!

  • @More350Power Me too!

  • @More350Power

We WILL get some vids on hear in a few weeks of this Beast Growling thru the dual Sewer Pipe exhaust system!

  • dont look nice with all the same colors oil pan should be chrome and valve covers

  • @30GB

My son (the engines owner) prefers to not have too much Chrome on his engines, he likes them to look more original. To each his own :)

  • Hey Miles, the engine looks great. Got an email coming to you about the sleeve valve engine. My brother is restoring a 69 Polara with a 440 that was used by the California Highway Patrol. It will remain in the original black and white which is legal for old police cars.

  • what a beast !

  • thats a massive engine lol wat car you get it out of , a charger perhaps lol

  • @scrapkilla321

Actually this engine came out of a 67 Imperial, you can see the grill from it in the background of some of my Briggs engine vids :)

  • I want to hear it running!

  • @oisiaa

    Yeah, so do I :)

If all goes well, it should be at the Drag Strip 24 July.

    Vids to follow!
