  • Does anyone know of any Cambodian rock and roll that exists beyond the Cambodian Rocks and Cambodian Swing Machine compilations?

  • @nateserx I've heard that since 2005 when I first saw the trailer from the director himself at Hurleys. Haha.

  • Release date?! Perhaps another 5 years :'(

    PDP

  • @phatryderekpan editing should be done early 2012!

  • If it wasn't for khmer rouge Cambodia wouldn't be that poor. Then again...i wouldn't be here in Long Beach, California lol.

  • Oh yeah, including USA brothers. USA was involved and China too. Who to blame brother? The F**king king Norodom Mother F**ker. The stupid king to led the country at that time, he was the one to blame, because he didn't have much education before he crown as stupid king by the f**king french. So, brothers, education is the number one key to rebuild our country! EDUCATION!

  • i'm intrigued and looking forward to seeing this movie.

  • God I hope this gets distribution!!!!! Good luck

  • I have been wanting to see this movie since the very first time I saw this trailer in 2007. This music is as exciting, innovative, vibrant, inspiring and important as anything the UK and the USA had to offer in the '60s and what happened to these artists will forever remain rock n' roll's greatest tragedy. I hope this film and the music inspires a brand new generation of young people and finally gives these artists the recognition and the place in rock history they truly deserve.

  • The documentary film is not finished yet maybe for the end of the year 2010. Then it will premiere at a major film festival next year. It's an independent film so probably it will take time before seeing it in theaters.

  • 0:58 - Henry Kissinger ... one of the world's great war criminals wanted in numerous countries for crimes against humanity.

  • For those of you who may be interested in donation a few bucks, the director is seeking the fund to finish the project. You can donate online: kickstarter (.) com / 68888325 / don't-think-ive-forgotten-cambodia-lost-rock-n-roll

There is 60 days to go

  • C tro maran lool !

  • does anyone know when the documentary is release? I would like to see more..THanks

  • tussminer- the video has it bass ackwards. China got the ball rolling - they wanted to take that entire peninsula. The USA intervened to stop the mass killings. wow.

  • what's the song at the end?

  • @buttdread It's Sin Sisamouth & Ros Serey Sothea' song called "Ma Pi Naok"

  • My only issue with this documentary may be the fact that it solely focuses on the rock and roll which was actually a very small fraction of the music being produced during the time.

I hope they also delve into the multitudes of duets and other genres.

  • I need to see this - only found out about it today. Any info on DVD releasing would be gratefull received.

  • When is the documentary coming out on DVD?

  • ok did some search because it was on the tip of my tongue. Finally found it, "Mou Pei Na - Sinn Sisamouth & Others".

Copy and search it on YT, u'll find it.

  • @sykr23 in Khmer 'mou pei na' means where are you from (province) or where did you just come from (market, friend's house). It's a "trying to get to know you" song.

  • i know what it means.

    I was answering "buttdread" question.

    Thanks anyway

  • @buttdread, mou mei na

  • fuck up

  • stupid fuc*ing goverment killing ppl..stupid shi*

  • Any status update on the release date?

  • @g00g00d0lls editing should be done early 2012!

  • so sad sad for me to see this coz i have lost a lot of family during that fucking war !who responsible for this azz !

  • Pol Pot and his "brothers" are to blame, along with those who willfully supported his death regime. Fu**ing scumbag a5sholes!!!!! I personally hope he is in the lowest level of hell for eternity!!! >:-/

  • the destruction of the country was done by the khmer rouge but the cause of the destruction was caused by the vietnam war.

  • & does anyone know the song that starts at :25?

  • sure, that is Jis Cyclo

  • thank you

  • Dammmm they knew how to rock n roll (;

haha. It musta been fun living back then.

  • Dangggg. Pan Ron can really shake it.

But on a serious note, seeing things like this makes me so depressed. Things were amazing back then and now... It's horrible. I'm a 14 yr old Khmer girl and LOVEEEE listening to the oldies. They're so much better than the new songs they write.

    And don't worry -- I definitely haven't forgotten Khmer Rock & Roll.

Also, does anyone know where I can find the song from 3:25-3:32? (Oldies)

  • The name of the song is called (Ma Pi Noak-by Sinn Sisamouth, Ros Sereysothea & Pan Ron. You can listen to the song on YouTube...Just type the name of the song- Ma Pi Noak.

  • Okay. Thanks so much!

  • i can't wait to see the entire film!!!

  • I just don't understand, Everytime i see something that has to do with Amercians or Khmer Rouge, I get all Pissed, and I wana just Scream, " FUCK ALL AMERICANS AND FCK KHMER ROUGE STUPID FUCKIN MOHTER FUCKIN CUNTS CAN ALL GO TO FUCKIN HELL AND BURN. "

    - I feel a lil better.

  • To Khmerville: I'll quote you directly; you said "FUCK ALL AMERICANS". The bastards Nixon and Kissenger COVERTLY bombed Cambodia. This was kept a secret from the American people until AFTER it was already done. They didn't ask for permission, you know.

How is your "FUCK ALL AMERICANS" statement any different than the way the Khmer Rouge treated ALL Cambodian people as enemies and guilty criminals?

You say "FUCK ALL AMERICANS" but I say "FUCK YOU!", you pretentious, uninformed dick!

  • Loooool, get a life you douche. Don't come at me with your stinky shit, you probably don't even know how it feels to experience all that shit, you fucking Fat stupid American, you picked a monkey for your president, need i say more.. enough said, shows how dumb you guys are..stupid cunt..

  • First of all you snot-nosed little cunt, I'm not an American. Second of all, since I'm not an American I couldn't have picked a monkey for my president. Thirdly and most important of all, I seriously doubt you lived through any of the horrors that the Khmer Rouge visited on the Cambodian people because you have all the intelligence and conversational skills of a severely retarded 11 year old with a severe case of shite-for-brains.

And as I bid you good night, I laugh in your cunting face. :)

  • Grow up and Get a Life, stop Youtube hating, you think im an 11 year old kid, but here you are still tryna win some non existant battle.

Im an " 11 year old kid " But i can tell I am way more mature then you.

Btw.. " Cunting Face " ? AHAHAHAHAH Real mature there buddy. Good day to you, hope life treats you kind, Peace.

  • Stop youtube hating? LMFOA! You're the one who started off with your crybaby horseshit "F*** ALL AMERICANS". Now I'm youtube hating? :D You actually are a special olympiad, aren't you?

You're about as mature as the peach-fuzz on a baby's butt, son, although I must thank you for getting schooled so firmly by myself. It sure was fun.

Take this as a lesson, and crack open a book about the Khmer Rouge and what actually assisted their rise to power so you don't look like an idiot next time. :)

  • this is why khmer people are so proud of our roots, not only did our ancestors leave us with the biggest and most beautiful religious monument angkor wat which is one of the 8 wonders of the world, our older generations left us with music that is respected till this day, if u compared khmer music in the 1960 - 1970s we were years and years ahead of our neighboring country. our culture is so rich and beautiful but im sad to see the younger generations are embarassed to show our culture

  • oh i love these footages of the performing bands!

  • LMAO!!

i STILL listen to all those old school songs!!

i mostly listen to Lao and thai, and my fist camb rock is DENGUE FEVER!!

  • check out my vedio of DF lastest MV.

  • wow i already know about all this

my parents and grandparents miss those old days and they still got there CDs and DvDs of khmer Rock `n` roll because the old thing that they cant forget about is the History of music

my family is all about the music , dancing, culture, and history

but thanks to the people who made this video, i thought not much people knows about the history since most of us r white wash and can't speak much khmer from generation to generation now....

    WOOHOO KHMER PRIDE!!!!!

  • buen documental

pueden poner una version en español?

  • There is no muslim terror or Osama in Cambodia, hell no. Maybe Obsama, Natizi, and Pol Pots.

  • I WANNA SEE THIS SO BADLY!!

  • So is this already out? If so, where can i get it? If not...when will it be!?

  • How could a guy go about getting the soundtrack or a good collection of music from this era?

  • you can get this music on an album called Cambodian Rocks. I bought it on Amazon, it's quite expensive but good. The first two main songs from this trailer are on it.

  • Check out Midnight Sunrise for a look at things in Cambodia now

  • wow!!

    dat is the best video

    i saw on youtube!!

    i love it

  • LOVE IT!

  • Great Video!

  • who sing the song in the end of the documentary and what's the song called, thanks :).

  • The band is called dengue fever, they also performed the theme for matt dillons movie city of ghosts

  • worrdd....peep the video!!! Proof that the Cambodian culture flourished then desstablized. I guess you can say every great country has its ups and downs, and we been down for quite some time now, I think its time we rise above all the madness that has happened and get back to the arts that make our country unique!

  • It is a tough job in today's world where easy copying of foreign songs are norms in Khmer now. The competent musicians have become composers for karaoke rather than song writers and it is not a choice if they want to feed themselves and families.

  • Yes it is time for us to rise! Take a look at a couple of favorite vedios on my page...our economy is booming and in 10 years a brand new city will be built next to Phnom Penh. We will continue to flourish!

  • Loved this video! It touched me. :)

  • Having u went to Cambodian, lately? Some of my family said "come home sister!" Then I said do u brothers got any home? No "we need u help out sist?" Well then call Hun Sen out? Well! brother All the people here, we call the bank to strangle for 15 to 40yrs. So what the world care? So the cluse don't miss the word "home"

  • Hey guys, i saw bin laden in the video.

  • Shut up! what you say !

  • beautiful and enlightening. is this available on dvd?

  • WE need to revive our lost khmer rock n roll!!

who's with me??? i play the bass guitar!!

  • I'm happy that, someone like raneath care.Raneath you said, that you going to doing something for khmer cinema?

Good for you.We need that. Are gorn jah.........

  • we need more great khmer film makers, not film makers that makes boring movies, or movies with rapes and pedophiles. People are influenced by what they see on tv.

  • khmer movies nowaday are boring because of the lack of professional knowledge of the art. but most importantly, they don't do it for the love of film but for money. You can't blame them though because they're trying to survive. My future with cinema is my love for it, not money. I will stop doing it when I lose the love. I pray I wont lol

  • hey thanks :) i am trying lol. I think anyone in khmer can make good movie if you over the money thing and have some film ethic. today, khmer entertainment is majorly profit oriented. I mean after all it's business but we don't have enough people that love film for film, not film for money.

  • i agree,

  • Cambodia will be back to its pride again unless we (cambodian) joint hand together to cute down the influence line from our old enemy.

  • I like this video very much. It help me to know more about cambodia in the past. That is amazing. I hope one day cambodia will be like that again! Thanks for sharing!

  • very nice,im vietnamese and i love cambodian music, its cool

  • Khmer people been through a lot you know and we trying to revive the lost times. The reality is that Khmer have to move on and rebuilt the country. We get tired of wars. It take us quite sometimes to recover from the past. As far as music wise, all nations in the world are borrowing from one another,so therefore it ain't belong to nobody anymore. PEACE

  • Goodnight, old Cambodia.

    Good morning to the future.

  • America's big mistake.

  • So painful...to watch this...KHMAI PRIDE 4EVER

  • great piece of work

  • before pol pot era, khmer produced ORIGINAL and kickass music

  • raneath, honestly my uncle is the few if the only movie producer-song writer still alive. his name (excuse me for the spelling)is Koung Buncheun. He wrote many songs sung by the famous singers in the documentary. if you want an interview i can give you his address or phone number. he lives in europe now. please reply if you are interested.

  • thanks eh but i'm just learning and still in school. I'm just gaining more knowledge and making some short movies. That is really cool of him that he did that. It's up to our generation to make a difference in khmer. I'm doing something for khmer cinema. that's for sure lol :)

  • great for you, maybe someday i might join you, planing to go that direction too

  • yea bro me 2 but 1st sum 1 need 2 kick hun sen out of the top ....

  • i agree but you know who really is the main reason? the U.S. if they had not influenced Lon Nol to overthrow King Sihanouk so the US can bomb the vietcongs located in khmer, then the King wouldn't have created Khmer Rouge.

  • it the whole world fault, stop complaining and start rebuilding, the past cannot be changed, i really hate this blaming game, we must now work together to make Cambodia great again

  • indeed.

  • although i grew up in america i cant help but get emotional seeing what my country could have been. i often wonder if i will live long enough to see Cambodia flourish once more. such ashame that pol pot destroyed everything beautiful about cambodia and our people.where can i get this documentary so i can at least relive the golden era that was taken away from us.

  • it will happen. when i'm done studying, i'll do whatever possible to make khmer prosperous again. Also, i'm gonna make a movie about khmer golden age in 60's, somehow. Then, people around the world will know khmer not just as a war-torned country but a fun and loving nation.

  • good luck to you

  • Wow..dis is great, i loved watchin this..please post some more if u have it..Thanx

  • where the whole documentary please let me know thanks.
