  • My friend Todd and I would drive around and sing this ditty. Just for the Fun!

  • Rik Ocasek is a cross between Lou Reed/Bryan Ferry/John Cale..

  • @thecars7879 okay thanks!

  • Did this song ever get airplay?! If not they should right now! Long live the legacy of Benjamin Orr.

  • Great overall song by a great overall band.

  • F*&^ this song, like Visage's "Fade To Grey" is so perfect for the early 80's!!!

  • If this was released as a single like Touch and Go it would have been a bigger hit and not just a vintage song on the end of the Panorama album

  • PANORAMA!!!!!! I'm glad I have the cd because they are not selling it on amazon anymore

  • @jenbunny1984 They re selling it at the Best buy webiste Jen, its about 10, 11 $

  • Love this❤ I love all their songs

  • They don't make bands like this any more.

  • 197777777999999999999!!!!

  • Ben rules. The Cars were so great

  • damn I fricken love this song!, I cant get enough of it.

  • i'm coming around i want you to come i'm coming around just for the fun i'm having a real time just taking what's not mine and i'm doing what i want to do that's running to you you're looking for someone with maniacal shots you're looking for someone over the top i'm having a real time just reading your headline and i'm doing just what i want to do that's running to you you're hoping for someone that fits in your plan you're hoping for someone two in the hand

  • How can anyone say that the Panorama album sucked? If it was released in 1984 instead of 1981, it would have been heralded.

  • @edmundjscott I agree with you, The Panorama album I like better then Heartbeat City.

  • Love them

  • Panorama was a work of pure genius. Waaay ahead of its time. Still holds up well. IMO the Cars most daring, creative and ambitious album.

  • @Pacisdiligo definitely had a new wave sound to it, different than the others. if i had to rank their first 4 albums it would be tough cuz i use to listen to them all top to bottom, and they all got great songs. didn't really care for heartbeat city or door to door, although heartbeat had a few good tunes.

  • Running To You is a heaphone song alright. I got rock and roll on one ear, and new wave in the other.

  • gosh when i was younger i thought i was the only person that bought cars records. now that youtube is here i see how many people actually love them. thanks very much for posting some panorama stuff. i got the original lp but havent pulled it out in a long time. cheers!

  • @nothadnotbad I remember going to the Roseland Ballroom concert in Manhattan in May and it was sold out. It looks like all those people were true fans. A lot of young fans discovered the CARS over the years and its great to see

  • @THECARS7879 yes its great to see. and you know... the kids i meet these days cant stand todays music. they say its all the same. and it is. at least back then all bands sounded different... and had a little talent i might ad. i think everyone that knows who the cars are.... likes them.

  • @nothadnotbad Im such a diehard fan . I can literally say they are my favorite band

  • Panorama was The Cars best album they ever made: cold, dark, and edgy.

Runing to You and Panorama are my favorite Cars songs. RIP, Ben.

  • And Thumbs up of your cranking the CARS in 2011 like its 1979 1980

  • @THECARS7879 its not??????

  • Love Love Love Panorama Thanks jj

  • damn I love this song, the lyrics seem explicit at times lol

  • damn I love Ben Orr's voice, It was great, i wonder if they really notice how talented he really was

  • @THECARS7879 All of CARS fans know how talented he was... Simply one of the Best/Greats of all time.. We will miss him..There was no one as electric as him and his voice was one of a kind...

  • This is a great track , what a classic by the CARS

  • i'd say there new song, "free" would go on this album if it had been realeased all those years ago

  • this was considered their 'black sheep' record. I would have to say probably their best to

  • the rolls on this song are nice and tight

  • I love this song Running running running to you

  • " any idiot who dislikes this track is bound to die of stupidity..."

  • Such a great sound this song has... So good, so 80's, my decade....

  • THEIR BEST!!!

  • Your comment is so bizarre but so true! Just like the Cars xD

  • This album and this song especially reminds me of some of the funnest times of my life. In high school and college. I worked at the Massunutten Ski Resort in Virginiia near Harrisonburg. I vividly remember me and my coworkers feeding a juke box quarters to hear this tune and we'd slide in behind it to crank up the volume and piss off the customers.

  • "Panorama" was pure genius, beginning to end. It was daring, original and incredibly infectious. Not a weak song on the entire album. Holds up well after all these years! Looking forward to the new album!!

  • @Pacisdiligo so true

  • Panorama, GREAT album!!! never understood why many people didn't see that. To me it so obviously kicks ass! Every song on the album is well done, and classic!

  • They only had one hit from this album on their great hits album.

  • their best album..hands down...

  • @dirkwearsws i agree class of 81 hs

  • One of my favorite Cars songs! Thanks for posting!

  • Benjamin sang this great. It was a bit different hearing him sing one of the more quirky sounding songs. Did a great job, even though I always preferred him doing the other kind of songs.

  • Coming from boston & going to public schools in a suburb just outside...all my life....the cars were / are still very f-en cool.....

  • A quirky, strange, yet weirdly BEAUTIFUL tune from the Cars' most UNDERRATED album!

  • @beerbrain420 I love that tune Running to you from the CARS, with Ben Orr on vocals

  • I always loved that guitar line/sound behind the verse "I'm doin' what I want to do" -- thanks for posting

  • Oh yeah, nothing like good music, i miss the 80s big time. Thank u Jack.

  • I sang this to ever girl I knew when it first came out. An awesome Orr song, will go down with me when I am six feet under.

  • @1967elgalindo I echo your comment the Cars will go down with me when I am six feet under too... This song is awesome, such a unique and distinctively "CARS" sound... They were the Best !!!

  • I always here that they were over looked and they were. I had all there albums on vinyl 8 track cassette and on CD. Saw them in 84 n 86. One of the greatest band ever!

  • How about stereo, jack? It doesn't do the songs justice.

  • ¡Ahhhhhhh!!!...tan solo tenía 13 años , cuando disfrutaba la vida , escuchando ésta canción!!!!!

  • Nice. Many good memories of this 'new wave' timeline.

  • damn every cars song i hear is catchy as hell, makes me wish i wasnt born in 84 and born earlier sometimes

  • @jmann31705 hahaha same except 94 for me

  • The Cars are MUCH more than Just what I needed

  • this is very hip boston sh^t...very bowie/some radiohead/eno stuff.....best track on the album _ fuck cd's "and I'm doin what I like to do"

  • and in 2010 i'm doing.......

just what i want to do

  • i'm the kind of guy who needs an enormous hug.

see, it was uclydidides when dwight schrute hypnotized me and lol the premise is that there is no pepper company. salt and suave never mixed. after 5 lets get happy teeheee. anyway Ithica Channel Muffypoo?

marty? as in gras? of the parade juno?

    happy facesuring embedded within frongs

  • i always kind of like this song, not the lyrics so much, but i had the album (had all of them) and loved most of it.

  • @ladybluluv I love the lyrics, they sound explicit : )

  • loved Devo, still do...them and The Cars were the best around that time and when i saw them on t.v. it was well worth staying up late to watch them play.

  • Amazing how many incredible songs this band wrote. They're just unbelievable.

  • I was just talking to a friend about the same thing. Every song on the first 2 albums got airplay at one time or another. How many other bands can say that.

  • @yugitso they still do play a lot of the CARS on classic Q104.3 over her in NYC.

  • cool song

  • I have this album.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Humm? My X sent this song to me. Whadaya think?

  • I wish there was a video to this one. This is one of my favorite Cars' songs.

  • shit that shits sick greak cocaine music

  • Great song, brilliant album! The Cars at the top of their game. Things got a lot more commercial after this. Punk pop at its best!

  • God. Listening to this makes me remember how fun the early 80s were. We were more free then. It seems we live in pure violence and a police state now.

  • Graduated in 1980.. I'm with ya man.

  • Right on with that comment. Back in the early '80's we had the best music, the best president (Reagan!) and many other things that makes me wish there exists a time machine. I would jump back to the '80's in a second.

  • This is Ben, right?

  • Yes.

  • @julieswahn Yeah Running to you was a song Ben did

  • cars ruled i play in a band back in the 70's and 80's play all 4 albums of their best fun!

  • Thanks for posting these Panorama tracks. These got lost on everyone who's only familiar with the commercial post-Shake It Up records.

  • Misfit kid was also my favorite. Thanks again,Jack!!

  • i love this song, i can't believe so many people

respond this song. I was in 11th grade in 1981 when i brought this album. Thank you,Jack!!

  • Just thinking back to when this album came out...it was a real transition period in pop/rock music, the start of MTV and all that. But musically I thought this was a real experimental time; this still sounds fresh and different. If you listen to their interviews you can tell they were very down to earth guys, and didn't have this "star" pomp thats so common now.

  • This got a lot of play on 'XRT when the album came out.

  • Well? the last 2 tracks, this 1 & Up and Down were rocking tracks. the rocking beat along w/ the massive drive made this 3rd Cars cd ok w/ me. I think that was Benjamin singing lead on this one & everyone thought it was Ric, but it wasn't. I can tell the difference on Benjamin's vocal & Ric's. Their singing are so similar but Benjamin's stood out all the time. Fitted btwn Candy-O & Shake It Up.

  • A great gem of a song that the masses missed out on.

  • "I'm coming around,...I want you to come"! Ocasek was a cleverly subversive lyricist! What a brilliant, beautiful album "Panorama" was and is. It was so different that it threw a lot of people off and they didn't give it the chance it deserved. Holds up very well nearly thirty years later!

  • Thank you, joltinjack, for putting this on YT! Haven't heard this one in years. This group never received the media attention they aptly deserved. Their music is timeless, and VERY creative. They had a "hook" all to their own, and I'll always appreciate their fine work. Thanks again!

  • You bet, Terrafirma91. I'm glad you and others enjoy good music.

  • Oh, by the way, Jack. Wasn't there a song off this album titled "Misfit Kid"? I could be mistaken. Perhaps the song was released on another Cars album. Thanks TF91

  • Yep..I beleive it was "American Misfit Kid". Perhaps Jack could upload that one too.

  • Thank you! I'm just happy as a lark that Jack has done so much to bring us these fine Cars compositions. Thanks, Anthem...

  • Thank you, Terrafirma for your comment. It means a lot. About the message sent directly to you, I now realize it was Anthem who requested Misfit Kid. At any rate, take care and rock on!

  • I just did. Check it out. Enjoy!

  • it was a great album, overlook and underrated by the public and radio stations. always been a fan of their music since the mid 70's - junior high school days. GREAT TIMES!!!

  • Oh yeah, Panorama came out the year I got out of High School. This was their worst selling LP, but I loved it, Me Cucumbus, Hot Dog, Kato, David Harris. 1980 Alexandria, Va. Seminary Plaza Shopping Center, The Bowling alley, PCP & ACID!!!!!

  • great song brings back memories --
